Currently I am thinking of buying this phone, or Xperia Z2. In Egypt they are very closely priced with the 820 at 3100 L.E and the Xperia Z2 at 3400 L.E and the difference is not going to be much. So, if I am buying the 820 will i be missing on so much ? is the 820 capable of handling the most hardcore games out there? and most importantly, is there any current (or incoming) developer support for the 820 (Root, Recoveries, Mods, Roms, etc) because this is one of the main reason i buy android phones.

If u like htc sense ui then HTC desire 820 is good for you .otherwise go for Xperia Z2
I heared that HTC desire 820 having heat issues on Heavy usage as users reported.
For developer Support
Custom recoveries listed in development section
So,yes developer Support
but
I can't Say about custom roms.
Related
Why phones like the HTC One M9 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 which both use the Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 have custom rom but xperia m5 not even a simple custom rom or kernel?
(sorry for my poor English)
Well sony smartphones are more complex, xperia needs unlocked bootloader, devs to create custom kernel, custom recovery and most of we need devs to make it happen, but sadly devs are preoccupied with Z series for know, and this is a very new phone so we need to be patient. But anyways m5 works fine with stock rom,for me its perfect, fast, stable and it's UI is pretty nice. But i know there are different opinions and users who like different stuff.

I never had problems or the will to change the stock rom from sony. It's perfect.
But it would be nice to have some customs roms anyway.
We will have them, but we have to be patient...

I don't see this device getting any Development what so ever unfortunately usually seems to be the case with Sony mediatek devices I really wanted a m5 a while back myself I know where there is one for sale now brand new but used in white less than £180, but due to lack of development it's exactly why I'm hoping to be going for the x instead to replace my m2. If you have no intention of rooting ect it's a good device with a cracking camera if only it was as popular as the m2 was things may of been different
Hello, i have a couple of questions and need help to decide if i should buy the LG G3 855 (BR edition) vs the Moto X Play.
Well, first off, independent of the phone that i'll get, i'll install TWRP and CM13, i can't have a phone without it.
So, is the G3 easy to unlock the bootloader (specially this version that i would get)?
Also, it's a 16gb of storage and 2gb of RAM (same as the Moto X play), but i have a huge question.
Is the SD 801 better them the 615 from the Moto X play?
How does CM13 run on that chipset too?
And last but not least... how is android dev going to this device, will it "die soon", or it's at full steam still?
Thanks

Only advantage of the Moto X play is that it's a newer unit compared to 2014 LG G3...
There's lots of tutorials here on how to unlock bootloader. I don't think you'd have trouble with it
SD 615 still can't match the 801 even if its octacore.
Aaand dev support is still solid and active.

Thanks M8, i was inclined to get the G3 as the only advantage of the Moto X play is the battery size.
But i heard that the in the G4 from my country, it is impossible to unlock the bootloader. As the G3 is, i'll get it
Hi all. Just purchased a Lenovo Z2 plus.
1) But found camera is not too impressive. In spite of relevant features of snapdragon 820 regarding the camera features, it seems that the camera performance doesn't reach expectations at that level. Find the attachments regarding features of SD 820 regarding camera.
2) On official listing of devices that use SD 820 in Qualcomm website: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/s...yNDU5MTpuYW1lJTIyOiU1QiUyMjgyMCUyMiU1RCU3RA==
It seems that this device is not listed. Can anuone give a clarity about this!!!
Maybe you misunderstood what the Processor has to do with the camera.
The things you have read there is only what the SD820 supports.
The Z2 does not have all of these features since its up to the OEM, aka ZUK.
Hi guys.. I want buy an oneplus 3 or 3t...
Which is the best for roms modding?
And which version/model?..
I mean global or european? (I'm from italy...)
64gb or 128gb?..
I don't know this phone and this is the first time that I will buy an oneplus... Please help me ^^
Doesn't really matter which one you get, phones are nearly identical. Main differences - T version has a bit bigger battery (3400mAh vs 3000mAh), higher resolution front camera and slightly faster CPU (S821, the 3 has S820). In real life those differences are pretty much negligible.
As far as development goes it also doesn't matter. All note-worthy ROMs, kernels, etc. are unified, meaning they can be installed on both versions.
64GB vs 128GB is completely up to you. You should know the best how much storage you need. I have 64GB and it's more than enough for me.
EDIT: forgot to mention, global and EU is the same model - A3003 - that's the one you'll need in Italy. The other ones being Asian (or just Chinese?) and US models (both A3000).

Obviously OP3T is better in autonomy terms.
It represents an enhanced OP3: 3400 mAh vs 3000 mAh, then a more efficient SoC (Snapdragon 821 instead of 820).
You could find it only as used product (without warranty), because it was retired from the market almost 1 year ago.
If I'm not wrong, even Oneplus 5 is just retired in favor of Oneplus 5T.
sup guys I have a problem, recently I bought a moto z play (at least I was thinking it was) but to my unhappiness it was fake i bought a Alps Z Play, so i have a question, can i put a original rom in this phone or a custom moto z play rom? :crying:
obs: built-in version: alps.l1.mp6.v2_magc6580.we.l_p45 and version number: LMY47I
I don't think so - the Alps Z Play has a different CPU (Mediatek MT 6580, 4 cores at 1.3 GHz) as opposed to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (8 cores at 2 GHz) and only 1 GB of RAM in the clone, from what I can see of the benchmarks: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/compare/8178138?baseline=7380482 ). Motorola stock firmware won't flash onto a Mediatek CPU/bootloader and you may end up bricking the device. The Alps Z Play appears to be running Android 5.1/6.0 as well from the benchmarks.
I would recommend returning the device if you can - for a refund - and buying a genuine Z Play. I do not know if other Mediatek ROMs will work on that device, though I imagine it'll be quite slow.
ok thx
