Got this G3 F400s recently and wondering whether should I root it or stay on stock and update to lollipop 20F OTA?

I would only root if there we`re things i could not do without root, if everything works as you need it there is basicaly no need to root .
the phone runs well on the 20F rom imo as is out of the box.

L3 G3 Lollipop V20e can be rooted?

Can you tell my if it's possible to root the v20e version on a LG G3 smartphone?
No way to currently root lollipop on LG g3, you need to install rooted ROM, downgrade to kitkat, root and install TWRP recovery... Then install any of the rooted lollipop ROM.
everybody has waiting for working root

d855 in israel - new update found - v20f - safe to update? (lose root?)

hey all,
My LG G3 D855 just got a new update found... V20F. I have 100% stock KitKat right now, V10o build, and its ROOTED.
If I do the software update automatically, will I lose root? Do I have to do anything like this whole bump thing etc? I just want Rooted V20F (Lollipop) and eventually I may put a rom on it... Am I ok? Or should I do something first?
thanks
If you want rooted Lollipop then dont do the update.
Flash TWRP and flash some prerooted Lollipop rom. That is the only way to have rooted Lollipop.

no downgrading.

got my d855 yesterday. got ota update to 5.0. any knows how to root lollipop without downgrading. i like the lollipop ota. would be nice if you could root it. if no one knows then i'll stay on lollipop until someone does

What was the original country you got it from?
You need to flash kitkat rom KDZ by using your PC. There is a guide in the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
Be careful and first check which model you use. I think safest bet is to flash v10a since all root programs work with that version (I think). Region of KDZ isn't that much important, but just check for 2 very important things:
1. BE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD 16GB VERSION FOR 16GB MODEL OR 32GB VERSION FOR 32GB MODEL
2. CHECK WHICH PHONE MODEL YOU HAVE (F400K,D855,D851,D852,...)
Just follow tutorial carefully and you shouldn't brick your phone. If you don't have any understanding for root, I would advise you NOT to do any flashing then.
EDIT: you can't root it on Lollipop because it has new security features which haven't been worked around yet like kitkat.
just because you can't root lollipop & have to downgrade to kitkat doesn't mean you lose lollipop, if thats what youre worried about..?
downgrade to kitkat, root, install twrp, then flash a lollipop rom.
stock based rom will be exactly the same as your OTA update, if not, a more recent version.
aosp is pure lollipop experience, like on nexus range, but with added features & functionality.
responce

No OTA will remove root or brick your phone if you have twrp installed
Flash 10n kdz and reroot using purpledrake

Many thanks !
Or flash any other version (V10A,B,C ...), then OTA to V10n and root.

[Q] New G3. Root first or Upgrade and then Root?

Hi guys,
I just picked up my G3 D85110m from T-Mo. I have a notification for a System Update ( I presume Lollipop) which I have not done.
I see that I can root using PurpleDrake-Lite and stay on KK or go to an L Rom.
I can also it seems update and then get root using this new method for rooting Lollipop.
Is there an advantage or disadvantage to either route?
Thanks for any feed back you can give.

Since it's on 10m, it's a safe bet that the update is to 10r which is not the Lollipop update we are all impatiently waiting on. You can root however you want but it's easier to root 10m and install a custom recovery and then flash the files for 10r in recovery.

Thank you for the reply. I will probably then use PurpleDrake and then Flashify to install TWRP before proceeding to install 10r files or another ROM.
