[Q] Install CM12 Lollipop on HTC One M8 At&t - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to install Cyanogen Mod 12 Lollipop nightlies on to my HTC One m8 from At&t, but whenever I do that CWM says I need a newer bootload version 3.17 or 3.18. How do I go about getting that as I already have the latest software from At&t (1.58). Right now my HBOOT version is 3.16.
Thanks!

You need to upgrade your fw. I always just run developer edition ruus since they're made to run on atts network. You probably need to be in at least 4.4.4 to get cm12 to run

Okay cool thanks! How do I go about flashing the developer RUU. Also how do I get s-off since firewater is no longer continued?

[Q] Rogers HTC One Firmware 2.23

I just got an HTC M8 from Rogers and got a couple OTA updates and now I am on software number 2.23.631.2. I have looked through the forums and have not found anyone else on 2.23. The android version is 4.4.3 and the baseband is 1.19.21331147. I thought the latest firmware was version 2.22.401, how do I have 2.23.631.2?

Should I be concerned with rooting it and getting it S OFF because the firmware is 2.23 rather than 2.22?

Root should be fine, using TWRP. You SHOULD however Install TWRP, take a backup using TWRP, then ROOT, and then S-OFF.
You will probably have to use Sunshine but try firewater first. It has a low success rater however.
IF You can, please upload your TWRP backup files to google drive/mega/etc and send me a link for me to host it on my return to stock thread. I will remove your userdata files.
Thanks!

ryanfsdf did you try firewater? sunshine? Did you obtain root?
I have the new firmware on my unlocked stock Rogers One(m8) and wondering if I should bother even trying firewater.

Quite sure you can, just find the VZW 4.4.3 firmware and flash it then flash a 4.4.3 ROM. Or if there is a 4.4.3 RUU you could do that as it'll flash everything including firmware, ROM, etc.
You need to be S-OFF to flash firmware or do an RUU though.

I'm not S-OFF, is there any way to do it, or do I just have to wait until I can get S-OFF on 4.4.4?

If you took the official 4.4.4 update you will have to wait for S-off , m sure Sunshine devs will create an exploit

Its not clear what you or the OP are asking exactly. If the intent is to "downgrade" to run firewater, then NO you can't do it.
If already s-off, just flash the desired firmware by fastboot and restore a stock nandroid.

Not looking to run firewater. Just want to go back to 4.4.3. Running the stock rom, got the OTA 4.4.4 last week and don't like it.

This kinda sucks. Broke my original M8 and the replacement came with 4.4.4 on it so I'm stuck with a stock HTC phone. I want my GPE 5.0 ROM back! Stupid Verizon.

[Q] HTC One m8S-Off thru Firewater - firmware upgrade

Hi guys,
Just like to ask if I can just flash the latest firmware on my HTC one m8y without the need of relocking the bootloader / or thru OTA.
- shows as HTC_UL on my Bootloader / unlocked
- currently on s-off thru firewater.
- on Hboot 3.19
- firmware: 3.28.401.7
- on Supercid.
Could I just flash the firmware from any variant (preferably the one that has the latest? I have the htc m8y, isnt that an international variant? c
Being S-off you have the option to flash any firmware with the exception of CDMA firmware till you find what works for you. I would also like to mention you might want to get familiar with radio flashing as well

Truthfully, you don't need to upgrade. But if you really want to, you are s off and super cid. That's all you need for .9

I did not see this post, just jumped on the last reply, lol thanks! I also have an idea on radio flashing, process is pretty similar to the one for the M7.
I appreciate it, some rom s needs an upgrade in firmware to flash (like ARHD) glad that I can flash firmware even if it's from a different variant. the HTC m8y is uncommon.

No wifi after installing staock ROM

So i just returned to a stock ROM on my HTC One M8 and it won't let me turn on the wifi.
Software information:
Android 4.4.4
HTC Sense 6.0
Software Number - 3.28.401.7
SDK API level - 6.25
Kernel vervion - 3.4.0-g222defb

and is S-On
Can someone please help.
This is getting asked multiple times a day now.
You need to update your firmware.
go to your bootloader menu and figure out if that the firmware build number is the the same in the about phone in the setting menu
It happened to me too because I used more recent nandroid without updating my phone

3.28.401.7 is pretty new. It should work with 4.4.4. Strange issue IMO.
You cannot run a 4.4.4 rom. And without being s-off you cannot update your firmware... Yes you may have flashed a stock rom but not the stock rom you were on previously. You will ONLY be able to flash a rom with it looks like 4.4.2 or maybe 4.4.3.

Hint :
Fastboot getvar all
That says it all in a blink of an eye
Can someone please tell me like I'm a total idiot on how to fix this issue? I just put on a stock 4.4.4 with Telus cause it was the only nandroid available for Telus and I locked the bootloader again and made it S-ON. How do I fix my wifi now? I have to somehow unlock the bootloader again, get S-OFF and use a stock 4.4.3? THEN do a software update to 4.4.4?

The second link is the exact link I was following. The only nandroid for Telus is already 4.4.4 so that doesn't help me. I've unlocked my bootloader again and about to gain root so I guess I'll just flash a custom ROM again but I'd love if someone could actually tell me exactly what I'm missing here? If their isn't a stock Telus 4.4.3 I can't return to stock right?

Get S-OFF again and flash the firmware manually. Don't know why you went S-ON and locked in the first place. There is no reason to go back S-ON(Unless you're gonna exchange then it's a small maybe) and when it's S-OFF there is no reason to lock the bootloader.

I was following a tutorial on The Unlockr and he said to go back to S-ON so I listened. I'll definitely make sure to stay S-OFF from now on though so thank you! So how do I manually flash the firmware? I can't find a stock 4.4.3 on Telus anywhere...
EDIT: I'm now S-OFF again and I'm ready to go but I cannot find where to grab 4.4.3 stock with Telus. Would flashing a custom ROM that is on 4.4.3 fix my wifi too? I'm really confused by this whole thing like is Cyanogenmod 11 using 4.4.3 or is it it's own entity or?

Just flash the firmware for the latest 4.4.4 ROM that you have on there.
Grab the OTA file for Telus from OTA ZIP COLLECTION extract the OTA.zip to get the firmware.zip file inside it.

He updated the software, not the firmware.
He subsequently verified this by saying he restored a stock nandroid. But I was pretty sure of that already.

Basically, you have Developer Edition firmware. ARHD is based on Sense firmware. If you want to go to Sense 3.28.401.9, you will have to flash a WWE RUU.

You don't NEED 3.28.401. You just need a 3.x based firmware, and if you are on 3.28.1540, that is fine as well.
In fact, if you are in the US and/or AT&T is your carrier, the 3.28.1540 plays better with the AT&T network.
