I just spoken with Amazon live chat about keyboard layout.
My German keyboard as a different set out to UK keyboards and therefore some letters are different and the Fire TV uses UK or US layout.
Eg. Z & Y are opposite.
They told me after a lot of waiting that the USB does not work/should not work. It will be passed on to the technical department, and maybe in future the problem will be addressed.
Anybody in the UK and US with keyboard connected are all the keys in the right place?
Thanks

Keyboard working as expected here in the US. Did an Amazon rep really tell you that a USB connected keyboard should not work on the Fire TV?
Yes,She said she as spoken with the technical department and they say it is not yet in use, it maybe in the future though.
I have plugged my Lenovo N5902A into my PC to check the layout and windows recognizes it as a German keyboard and the layout is correct.
The @ keys are:
@ German is Q key
@ UK is in the bottom right hand side.
@ US is 2 key
My Fire TV @ is the number 2 key. What do you have and which country are you in?

Does anyone have experience with adding keyboard layouts to the Freedom Universal Keyboard2 driver for languages, which are not originally supported?
I recently bought the keyboard, and it does have a neat settings interface for language switching, problem is that it does not support the language layout I need which would be Slovak (QWERTY).
I have a Blackstone, running WM6.1...
how much did u buy it? n how is it with your pda?
Bought it from an online shop, but they don't have the localized drivers. It works quite well, the synchronisation process is a pain in the ass though, you have to do it every time you turn the keyboard on. Other than that, it's ok.
It feels much like a laptop keyboard, with the difference that the SPACE key is separated into two, so people who learned 10-finger type writing might have a problem with that (thumb often hits SPACE right where it's separated, and instead of one, you type two)
could you point me to the online shop u bought at?
Unless you are from the Czech republic I don't think the link will help you. International shipping costs would be through the roof.
Hi
If somebody has physical keyboard connected via Bluetooth to XOOM please check is it possible somehow to use 2 different languages on it. And how to switch between it.
Normally I use 2 virtual keyboard English and Russian one, but I'm thinking to buy Motorola Bluetooth keyboard to type letter and etc. I know that on Moto keyboard only English alphabet, but it's easy to make engraving on it to have 2 languages, so I need only to check is it working or not.
As I know original Moto keyboard somehow could have only English language (even when you set language strictly to russian. The on screen keyboard will show Russian keyboard, but when you will touch the physical keyboard it automatically just types the English letters). So is it possible to change somehow?
Which virtual keyboard you're using for Russian? I've tried SmartKeyboard Pro, but the layout is not that good...

I use standard virtual Honeycomb keyboard)) But know I prefer to use bluetooth keyboard
I figured out how to use native keyboard after posting
I believe the regular keyboard will work once we figure out how to set Locale to Russian as well. I know Russian is supported by Honeycomb, but by default only English and Spanish are the options. Anyone knows how to enable other locales?
Tablet keyboard
i use an on screen r virtual kwyboard on my zoom that i downloaded from the market. it is call "Tablet Keyboard" made by "Pretty Easy" ther isa free onethat i tested out and it was great. it has an option to use a full keyboard or it split the keyboad in half with one half on the left for the left tumb, and the other half on the right. it also works in connection with the build in keyboard onmy zoom. so there always the option in th lower right hand near the time where you can switch between the two keyboards if you like. you do have to check the boxx in keyboard setting to make it active. i think they even have a paid version for only ¢99.

Try this:
Select Russian virtual keyboard as input and start typing on Bluetooth keyboard. I think it should type in Russian... But I don't have a keyboard to try it. Mine should be here in a few days, I'll give it a shot.

One owner of Moto keyboard and XOOM tired and told. Even if you have only one language Russian, the Moto Bluetooth keyboard still type on the English language(
But if you will get it, try to click SHIFT+CTRL or SHIFT+ALT (if you have such keys on the keyboard), may be it will recognize it. I read somewhere that Moto keyboard support hot command like CTRL+C or V to copy and past command. So may be it will change language of keyboard like a normal PC.
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
I bought e very nice elive bluetooth keyboard in german qwertz design.
.
After pairing it, it works only in US qwerty layout. Found that to be a bug already in 3.0. Changing config does not make difference.
Huge setback for international customers.
Not really a "setback", it's just that your KB layout isn't recognized specifically and it's defaulting to a pre-determined layout.
Was your Xoom bought in Germany?

Yes it is a setback, all of German Xoom users buy the Original Moto Keyboard and all of them do not work and have the same issue.
My Wifi Xoom has been bought in US and then been localized to German language.

That's what I'm getting at- as there's no "official" Xoom release for .DE, it's very likely possible that the keylayouts just aren't in there (and w/o the source code, wouldn't be easily modded).

He is correct: there is NO OFFICIAL 3.1 release for german Xoom models, that means no official localized system version which could fix this bug yet.
It is something different if you use a US-device in Germany or having a real german device, even with any language packs.
So please stop scaring people with that unconfirmed statements in every forum belonging to the Xoom!
Thx

Confusing, the current German Xoom 3.01 does not support the German BT keyboard.
That is what I am hearing. The next Euro 3.1 update might fix this bug.
I am not scaring anybody.

Any update on this matter?
I'm looking to get scandinavian letters øæå to work on the keyboard... (bluetooh)
similar/same issue here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137780
motorola have a post on their support forum that the non-us keyboard layout for non-us keyboards fixed in intl. 3.1 update.
no idea about US 3.1 / 3.2 if it will have support... would be nice to be able to find a way to rip the non-us keyboard fix out and put it in to US3.1/3.2 though if/when the fix comes out
Hi to all,
annoyed of searching and not finding any solution to have a german keylayout on my German Apple Wireless Keyboard connected to the Zoom, i wrote my own German (QWERTZ) .kl and .kcm files. Now for all of those, who wants a german Keyboardlayout on the Xoom with their german Apple Keyboard, here are the files to install on your rooted device.
Please let me know, if it works for you.
Greetings from Germany
no feedback at all :-( ?
Well, what have you expected?
I guess most Apple keyboard owners own no xoom, most Xoom owners use the Moto one.
Never the less: appreciate your work and please keep it up!

Hope you still use and update this mod allready wrote to your thread on handy-faq.de today i have my xoom since two weeks and my apple wireless keyboard and apple wirless magic mouse since one week and realy love your work. Hello,
as my old Xperia Pro gets slower and slower, I imported a LG Optimus F3Q from the US, as this phone isn't available in europe yet.
Now I came across an issues, which I cannot solve by myself. Maybe someone here has a good idea.
The physical keyboard is QWERTY. When I hold some keys longer, a window will pop up to give me the choice of additional characters (like long on u will give me an ü). That's fine, that way was it on the Xperia Pro as well.
Now, I am used to QWERTZ, which is common in Germany. When typing quickly, I will mess up with z and y a thousand times.
I can change the keyboard style to German/QWERTZ in the phone's settings. Z and Y will be at the place, where I am used to. Fine so far! But.... (there's always a but): No window will pop up, when pressing the keys a long time. Instead of a popup to select Ü, U will be written as long as I press the key (like this: uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu). That's quite anoying! I tried all the other keyboard layouts, none but the English/QWERTY keyboard will show the popup.
Is there any chance to get äöüßéè ect. with the QWERTZ layout? Do I have to press some special key same time as "U" for example? Or is some specific app available for this issue?
Any help is appreciated!
Cheers,
doclouis
P.S.: I don't think, it's a specific F3Q issue, but for all phones with a physical keyboard. If someone found a solution for some othe phone, I will try it out!
Hello,
I haven't found a Qwertz-Keyboard-App that runs on my F3Q, but finally I got a solution: I found an App tp rearrange the keymap and simply switched Z und Y keys.
Still there is this popup-issue. When I hold a key longer, a popup will appear to give me the choice of accent letters (äöüßéè etc.). Still, the line of accent letters is not in the order I want them to.
So, is anybody out there, who can give me a hint, how to change the sequence of accent letters in the popup???
Cheers,
doclouis
Hallo
As I'm a german guy too this is interesting for me as well.
Unfortunately my F3Q hasn't arrived yet but I would start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2804980
It is for the Samsung Captivate Glide device so it may or may not work for the LG F3Q but it is a startin point so I would give it a try.
Let me know if you had any success (or not)..
Greetings

I've already bought it - no worry.
Its on the way over the ocean
To be honest it is the second one I bought. The first one is in use by my wife and the new one will be a development device only. I will try to port AOSP/CM to this device. Check out my signature for all the details

Still important
Hello fellow physical keyboard lovers,
I just received a nearly new (well, refurbished, but looks like new) LG Optimus F3Q. And, evidently, I too am interested in having a working QWERTZ keyboard and would welcome german localization.
Did you - over the time that has passed since - solve those questions or just change the mobile phone?
Youtube shows several videos of people allegedly running Nougat or Oreo on this mobile, but the links are either not working or have been removed due to (I assume) malware-spreading. Am I right in not believing this to be real?
F3Q is rooted, but nothing else has been altered so far.
I am currently using a Vernee Mars pro as "main" device, and was using an Elephone P8000 until recently.
