OK guys I've had this phone for three days. Last night I was on the phone with my dad and the call dropped. I tried to call him back and it said emergency calls only, then after 15 seconds went to the no service signal. Restarted the phone nothing, pulled the battery, nothing, factory reset via settings, nothing, factory reset via recovery, nothing. The problem is in settings it doesn't say I'm in airplane mode, but on quick settings and power menu it does. When I turn it on or off in any of them nothing happens. I'm not rooted yet but I can if need be.
i can imagine your sim card failing... without the "airplane mode" message same thing happened to my wife's phone.. replaced sim card an problem fixed.
I'm going to try a new Sim tonight. I'm also going to try draining the battery now and charge up to 100% with the phone off. Also I noticed that the phone app is taking a ton of battery...

Do you live in a crappy signal area??
I work in a very bad signal area. And I'm there 12 hours a day for the most part.

Well thats why Phone is eating your battery. As for your original problem, I've got nothing. I assume that on your days off, in better signal areas, you get better battery life?
I've only had it for three days but yeah. The one day I had off it was good. But I just swapped in my new Sim card and it's working. so hopefully this one will keep working. The old one wasn't very old.

My Artemis gradually stopped working with my SIM card, calls started getting dropped, I started not being able to receive calls. After a while, it would lose connection to the network whenever I would try to place or receive calls. I could have one phone call mine and I would watch it lose connection to the network. Then, I tried a different SIM, and it worked again. I placed and received calls easily to my SIM in a different phone. I got my SIM replaced and it worked fine again with my Artemis.
Then, a new problem started appearing: it would randomly shut down without warning, while I was in the middle of a communication. It has shut down during a phone call, while I have been using GPRS or WLAN, and even once in the middle of sending an SMS. It has always been during communications, though. It has never been with a warning. It tries to start up and gets to the "Windows Mobile 6.1" screen before cycling again, unless I force it off and leave it for a few hours. It can shut off with up to 80% charge reported, and after turning it back on, it has 1% charge reported and a message to replace the battery. The way it looks to me is that a communication is eating up almost the entire battery at once. Is this a battery problem? Or a phone problem?
Thanks for helping.
P.S. I have tried different Radio ROMs, but have not flashed a different full ROM since the problem started. I have, however, reflashed the same ROM once, to no avail.
EDIT: I have the problem fixed, it was a battery issue, for those who are experiencing the same problem
Bump: I have now flashed gullum TouchFlo2d beta 5 on my Artemis, and still the same problem. I have not changed the radio ROM since the flash (but different radios have done nothing in the past). I can keep the phone on for days before it reaches 0% battery, but all communications drain the battery completely in a matter of seconds. I still get the low battery warning after (not before) rebooting while plugged in to a power source.
Bump. I have since gone back to using my old phone, as it is unacceptable to be able to send three SMS before the battery dies. Would you recommend ordering a new battery and trying it out?
Communications uses up a lot of juice so I'd try a new battery. Problem is, where is a good place to get batteries?
Well, batteries are rather cheap on eBay. I jus don't want to spend money on a new battery and then not need it, like I did with my last phone. I understand that communications uses up battery quickly, but draining a full charge in several seconds just from GPRS makes me wonder - is it a phone problem? Is the battery even being emptied, or is the phone really crashing?
I ordered a new battery, and it has finally arrived, and the old one apparently wasn't holding much of a charge. I can now use GPRS and SMS for more than 5 minutes before it turns off. What a relief.
Ok, So I had the crazy boot loop issue a while back and was unable to fix it. I tried several PC36IMG's and even ran a RUU to go back to stock. All that failed and had no choice to take it to a sprint store. The techs there were also unable to get it running, they had to give me a replacement.
So now the replacement I got was also running CM7. I noticed earlier this morning while I had it connected to the charger, it would not charge past 1%. I unplugged it a few times and also pulled the battery. Nothing worked, it was stuck at charging on 1%. I got a text from my wife and after I replied I noticed the battery displayed 98% charged. Within minutes the phone shut down. It will not power on at all. I tried leaving the battery out for 1/2 hour and still no dice. If I have it plugged in it doesnt even show a charging light anymore.
Any ideas???

Does anything happen if you were to press the down volume button while simultaneously pressing the power button? Battery inserted, of course.

Negative...nothing at all happenes. Weird thing is out of all the times I tried to turn the phone on, twice it booted to the white HTC screen very briefly and just powered back down. Im done working in 2 hours. I will try a different charger to see if it may possibly be a bad charger? I doubt it but maybe???
That happened to my daughters phone, turns out the cat chewed part of the charger wire.
Well that was freaking weird. When I got home I first tried my wifes charger and that didnt work. Then i tried my wife's battery. They must have changed the evo design. Before this refurb, her battery from the shift fit perfectly fine. This referb it doesn't fit. Anyways, after I tried her battery I tried her charger. It works now. I let it charge a few minutes and the phone now turns on. I tried my charger again and it works also. That's really weird, it wasn't working all day. I'm not sure what fixed it. The battery only goes in one way. I checked all the connection points on the battery and phone. Everything looks fine. I did flip my wife's battery around so I could make the connections touch to try and turn it on that way. But that didn't work. It did work when I put my battery back in and used her charger the second time. Maybe her battery shocked it back to life? I have no clue but all is back to normal and well now.

As long as it works, my friend, that;s all that matters. Glad you got it up and running. Have a great day....
My phone has been acting weird lately. Just want to see what the consensus is. phone battery drains ok until I turn on A gps program will be about 90% battery gps will be on for about 5 minutes the phone shuts off restart and battery reads 40%. Then the phone keeps dying. Any thoughts im assuming its the battery but you all might know something i dont.
P.s. The phone is stock rom tilt 2
Thanks
That sounds like battery to me, but that doesn't mean there isn't also an issue with the phone...
If any of your buddies has an EVO or another TP2 (I can't remember what other batteries would work right now...) that you could try in your phone to rule that out?
If not, batteries aren't that expensive. I wouldn't go for the absolute cheapest on ebay either, find something that's got a brand name...
Thank you, a quick add on as to why it may not be the battery. I could'nt type it all out earlier because I was on my gfs phone.
I was away from a charger so just left it off for about 4 hours. Started it out of habit now its showing 80% after no charging. I also didn't mention Ive done a hard reset on it still get the same issue, everything is fine wi-fi for extended periods talking texting but as soon as I use gps it shuts down in about 3 minutes.
This is also a new issue and I have not recently added anything to my phone.
Edit: Update again tried to make a call and it died.. Ill take the suggestions and get a new batt.

You could also try a hard reset, flash a different ROM, etc.
Thanks for keeping on the thread, Tried the hard reset, the rom is what came with the phone never done a different one
New Battery is on the way. Something is screwy with it but we shall see.. If its not the battery I suppose Ill need to start looking for a replacement or an upgrade. Thank you for your input on the subject.
O man I am nervous.. Take a look at that screen shot.. What the heck is going on? the same thing happened to me yesterday! The battery was fine and all of a sudden the phone shut off and i cant get it to turn on unless i remove the battery and reinsert it. Yesterday when it happened there was no battery issue. But today when i turned it on the battery was nearly dea and the phone was hot. Like it had shut it itself off to protect it self.. any ideas?
i was having some serious battery drain due to my reception issues. I had my plan updated to 4g on att side and setup the hsdpa apn. since then i have been connected much better and battery is a heck of alot better. However I still have reception issues when I am on my home wifi which I cant figure out how thats possible.
not sure if its the same type of thing for you or not but I figured id share at least.
whats the display awake time show? curious if it is around 2 hours as well (vs the time the phone was on, or wasn't locked up).
Notice the drop off !
Looks like it coincides with loss of phone signal.

if thats the case then we have problems....wth ! why would that cause the phone to get hot and shut itself off ? and then not be able to turn it back on until a battery pull?
maybe it is something like my issue.
I see you are on wifi with almost no signal. If you turn the wifi off does the signal go up and also not kill the battery?
I don't think it's from loss of signal. The point where the huge drop is shows no signal cause the phone was locked up, or off, therefore there is a loss of time in the graph as well.
Any idea how much time passed between when you used it last, and when you found it off and hot?

gee i couldnt say exactly.. if i had to guess id say maybe a half hr to an hr
definitely factory reset and try using for several hours without installing anything. rule out apps or incompatibilities.

thats what i am trying to remember.. if i installed anything in the past 24hrs.. first time it happened was yesterday around 8pm
time to do some experiments then I guess. either try to narrow down what could be locking up the phone by turning off things, removing apps, ect.
or maybe connect it to a computer and maybe see if you can catch something with adb logcat.
maybe someone has some better debugging idea for you?
Do a battery calibration
Almost every week i have this problem with the phone acting a bit weird. First the phone start slowing down or kind of frizzing, next i turn the phone off...and on again. Suddenly my battery goes from 50's charge to 7% and the phone message said i need to charge the battery. I would turn off the phone again...take the battery out for few 10 seconds or more, put it back and restart the phone? now the meter says i have about 25% charge...i plug it to the charger and wait until is 100% and then seems to work fine for another week until the same thing happen again! Now im on FD16 but this problem has been occurring since i bought the phone 6 months ago on stock, so i think is not flashing new modems or kernels. a bad battery ? Does anybody have any idea how troubleshoot this a little further or has experimented this phone behavior. Or should go back to stock and send this baby to Sprint to try to get a replacement?
I just got to the point that i cant deal with this anymore since i dont know when it is going to happen and may not have a charger at hand!
Please i need some suggestions !

Anybody that can help ???
I have the same issue, is not the battery i tried a few batts and still reboots, im gonna wait for the official ics update to see if is just a bug or a deffective phone.
The battery percentage always decreases dramatically everytime you reboot. Android just doesnt read correctly after rebooting.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA

The only time my battery would drastically drop after a reboot was when I rooted my phone wrong and it would reboot about 10 times a day and when it did I would lose a good 50% of the battery. Now if I reboot I lose 1-2% even if I flash a new rom. On to this guys issue I would say if it has been doing it since you bought it, it is likely a hardware issue with the phone. My old Evo used to do that. I just ended up selling it because I wasnt sure if it was a problem with the phone or just the fact that, that phone was slow as **** anyway!
