[Q] Rooting question - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do I need to unlock LGG3 just to have it rooted? My rooting is only for apps that work for rooted phones. I won't be installing a custom rom.

If you don`t want to install a custom rom you cannot run a rooted stock Lollipop rom as it cannot be rooted atm, only KK can be rooted.

For the international D855 for instance you don`t need to unlock the bootloader, just root it with PurpleDrake (i used that and it works well) and (optional install a custom recovery (TWRP 2.8.4.0) to flash the latest superSU.zip or customs roms/kernels) or install the superSU app from Play. What model do you have?

I have the Verizon VS985 kitkat 4.4.2. Titanium Backup Pro is the reason for my rooting. Nothing else.

[Q] How to root LG SU 640 V20F?

Hi,
How to root LG SU 640 with V20F firmware. My phone was on V20D rooted, then updated to V20F with LG PC software and lost root. Procedures for older versions seem to be not working with this. Is there any way to root? Need root to 1. uninstall annoying Korean SKT apps, 2. install custom ROM.
Thank you.

Revert to GB rom, root, flash custom recovery, flash custom rom.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks, If I want to stick with stock for a while then? And flashing ROM is a tedious process, I would keep it as last option. Noway to root V20F?
you can root it, you cant put custom recovery.
best bet is to get back to GB root, custom recovery, put custom Stock ics rom if thats what you want.
Edit: i have rooted it but dont remember if that was 20D or 20F, but i did get root and able to delete system files. but get soft brick every time i tried to flash recovery. but after the new wind kernels i forgot about ICS and stock ROM's.

[Q] How install Rooted Lollipop w/o having root already

well the title says it, is it possible to flash a rooted lollipop rom w/o already being rooted?
i made the mistake of flashing the KDZ lollipop rom and now i cannot root it cause it is not available and cannot flash rooted lollipop roms since they all seem to require root prior to installation.
so is it possible to flash a rooted rom from windows if the phone is not rooted?
thanks in advance for any help and guide. cheers

From stock 5.0 to a custom rom ?

Hello guys, i was wondering since I've made the 5.0 update (european) if it was possible for me to flash a custom rom like cyanogen without root (because root isn't an option since llp) ?

After flashing a ROM, flash SuperSu 2.4 to get root.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
But how do I flash without root ?
It's noobish question, i can't get to recovery, I've tried with the Power and vol down keys, all i can get is a menu to erase my data, thats it.
Firsh backup your data. Then go back to EU stock ROM:
here are the stock ROMs: http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+G3%2FStock%2F
how to go back to your stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
Now you can root your LG G3, use TWRP/CWM custom recovery and flash custom ROM.
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-2-8-2-0-t2966129
Thank you, I hoped there was another way, i will downgrade then, thanks.
maybe there is. Im not pro neither I received OTA for 5.0, but I wanted to have my LG rooted, so I had to downgrade and now I am running AN HD.

L3 G3 Lollipop V20e can be rooted?

Can you tell my if it's possible to root the v20e version on a LG G3 smartphone?
No way to currently root lollipop on LG g3, you need to install rooted ROM, downgrade to kitkat, root and install TWRP recovery... Then install any of the rooted lollipop ROM.
everybody has waiting for working root

So i've had my gs4mini a while now and it refuses to root.
it is i9192 (dual sim) out of box running 4.4.2. cf-root fails and i'm running out of options. I really want cm 12.1 on my device.
how can i achieve root?
is it true that i need root to install a custom recovery? like the one posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/root-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-dual-sim-gt-t2819284
any advice will be helpful.

Your goal is to use CM12.1, you can directly flash custom recovery via Odin then proceed with CM installation steps.
You don't need root to install custom recovery.
& CF-AUTO-ROOT is meant to root the devise without replacing stock recovery and trip Knox warranty status.
