How to correct E960 reporting incorrect instead of actual E970 in LG_flash_tool
VDub2625 said:
I am aware, my problem was that I must have used some E960 flash at some point (I was playing with teenybins, and hence my messed-up boot screen, etc). The problem was I had to make the phone remember it was an LS970 (I reverted to a stock ZVB LGNPST flash first), and then this tool worked perfectly fine. thanks for the help! The ZVB LGNPST flash fixed my boot screen etc, so I suppose all the low level software was fixed then, but I wanted the ZVC flash as well, so i did as your instructions said. Worked perfect!
I agree that the instructions were a bit vague (and lacking in spell-check), however, it wasn't anything too difficult to understand and the step by step pictures really help.
The only problem I forsee is others with an issue like mine,t hat may have accidentally used the wrong Optimus G flash at some point, and their phone doesn't realize what it is. But as I found out, it is a simple fix.

Flash Tool Reads as "Wrong Model Name"??
I bricked my LG Optimus G LS970 (Sprint) from trying to flash cyanogenmod 12 on it.
** I had wiped the system, data, and ext by accident while in recovery so I have no OS**
So, I am trying the LF Flashtool to put the phone back to stock but it is reading the wrong model number ( comes up as a Nexus 4) see attached picture.
How can I get my phone to read as a correct model name?
I do have a backup of CWM I am unsure of how I would go about doing a recover with that without CWM recover on the phone?

Worked for me
Thank You tommyjoe, LG flash tool worked great. I did have the same issue with device reporting as different model and followed your suggestion that the unlocked bootloader was causing it somehow. After relocking bootloader correct model confirmed and flashed back to boxed stock
LS970-rooted and unlocked
ZVC-Stock Rom
Thanks again!

I have a problem when it resets it cant communicate with the device.

[Q] G Pad, Kit Kat 4.4.2, KOT49I.V50020b: Which TWRP.img (and/or aboot/loki file)?

Good morning
I have:
LG G Pad 8.3 with LG's custom interface OS
Android version 4.4.2
Kernel version 3.4.0
Build number KOT49I.V50020b
Software version V50020b
Here is an image of the software information:
http://s30.postimg.org/taiyvu2k1/201...8_14_31_41.png
I have already:
The LG drivers installed and updated -
Rooted the G Pad with towelroot's tr.apk (many thanks to the guy who made that method!)
Root checker and SuperSU installed and verifying the device is rooted
Google USB drivers (after rooting, the device refused to be recognized through the USB - installing the Google USB drivers seemed to fix that, although occasionally it dissappears again and I have to unplug/replug the USB cable)
Google ADT Bundle (adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140624 - although to be honest, my knowledge of using this program is limited)
Flashify (and Rashr - uncertain which is best to use, although both look good)
My goal:
Install TWRP
Use TWRP to install Cyanogen Mod
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. My G Pad has a micro SD card, which it can also write to (thanks to the G Pad being rooted). I'm a competent Windows and Android user, but by no means a hacker. If I want to upgrade or fix something, I read read read and try try try. But installing a new OS on my tablet is a new experience and I don't want to turn my tablet into a permanent brick! I have done all my homework, and think I know all the concepts, and generally the procedure. Now I just need the specific files and procedure for my G Pad.
My questions are:
1) Which TWRP recovery/boot image should I use to flash my device? (I tried a version, and briefly turned my G Pad into a brick! Fortunately I tried some power+volume combinations that I discovered, and that seemed to return to the original system.) My best options I have found seem to be:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2551499
plus using step 3 here (a loki-exploitable ABOOT and TWRP)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2698267
...or only:
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/213
2) Do I need to use an aboot/loki file first? (Apparently 4.4.2 doesn't have a loki exploit? I'm a little unclear about this tbh.)
3) Can/should I use ROM Toolbox or ROM Manager?
4) If you try to flash a TWRP, and it doesn't work, does/can the device just return to the standard OS? (This is what seems to have happened with my G Pad.)
5) Should I wait until the community has more experience TWRP-ing and modding the G Pad Kit Kat 4.4.2, V50020b device? (There seem to be a lot of posts with people installing TWRP and installing another OS.)
Many thanks in advance. And while I am decent with computers and technology in general, I humbly ask to speak/explain it to me including steps you probably already know are obvious(!) - I don't want to miss anything, and it is probably not obvious for me, as this is more or less my first time! If I can make this question clearer, or can provide better information, I will update this comment. Again, many thanks in advance!
Sorry - no questions in this forum?
Looking at a post by an admin, it looks like there shouldn't be any questions here. I've put this post in the troubleshooting Q&A forum section...
i have the same device firmware... I have root access, but cannot install TWRP!
Any ideas?
look at this instructions, they worked fine for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53612227&postcount=3
notice step 8 that states to disconnect the tablet
Thanks

Thanks for the link and information. I'll look at that carefully later. I want to be very careful (and know as much about what I'm doing as possible first) when I do this.
hmm... I believe I have the same build and software version as yours. I could recall a thread in the forums to flash the TWRP for the Korean version of the ROM, which actually worked fine for me. I have a SEA region tablet. If you still have issues, ill have a look when I get home.

Thank you very much, I'd appreciate the link, and any extra info you could give. I don't know if I'll have time to try it this weekend, but I'm collecting all the pages and info I can over the next few days, and I'm looking for a free time in my schedule to try this thing.
Now I have 20d : /
Apparently LG saw fit to update last night, and now I have 20d!
Does this change anything?
Cause I was all ready to try to load TWRP with 20b on my tablet. Now it's 20d and I don't know if that messes everything up.

First time installing CyanogenMod CM11 to your LG G2 (ls980), or coming from another ROM:
- Read the official wiki
- Be on latest TWRP/CWM
- Be Rooted
- ZV8 Radio
- Copy GApps and CM11 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Flash CM11 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- Reboot
- Don't restore system data using Titanium Backup!
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
INCREDIBLY EASY!! This worked the SECOND time I tried it. I skipped the step of flashing the ZV8 radio first time and ended up with a boot loop. After restoring a backup, I went through the above steps EXACTLY and BINGO... am now happily using my Sprint LG G2 on TMO's $30 prepaid plan. Many thanks to the OP.

lg ls980 (sprint) thinks its a d801 and i get no service with a metro sim card
Hello to all, I am fairly a newbie at all of this but i know a thing or two as well. Where I am confused is this....I have a sprint lg g2 ls980 and I read up and flashed this rom that will enable me to use my metro pcs sim. Now my question is that ive done that how do i get it to work....i think i need the zv8 radio....I flashed the phone with the lg flash tool using the zv8 .tot file, doesent that include the zv8 radio?? If so I went thru the prompts and read everything exactly and i still can not get voice, data, or anything to work...even messing around with the apn's and nothing. And if i do need to flash the zv8 radio individually, now that my phone thinks its a d801 how would i go back to ls980.....i read something about changing a prop.build, is this correct...I know a little yet have so much learn...please if anyone can help it would be wonderful...
---------- Post added at 11:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 PM ----------
can someone post the link+instructions on how to return to ls980 from d801 using the rom that was given here...i forgot to flash the zv8 radio first and the backup i had was erased when i flashed the phone with the lg flash tool can anyone help, otherwise im doomed..
ZV8 Radio?
Where do i get it and what is it? Trying to flash my sprint phone and they say i need it.
GPS
Thanks younggunner for this ROM!
I don't get a GPS signal as if the GPS receiver is not on. Looking through the original thread it seems that that was an issue that was present but should have been resolved with the ROM.
Any ideas what I'm missing?

Attempting to flash SGH-T999L back to full stock
So I found this thread by DocHoliday77 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308514) and attempted to flash my phone back to stock following his directions and using CWM. I installed the zips and got back to the stock recovery and rebooted the phone. It is now stuck on the splash screen. I have not attempted to power it off as I don't want to ruin my phone. Any advice on this matter would be helpful.
Also I am attempting to get back to full stock so that I can essentially do an upgrade to another phone. This was a standard SGH-T999 but they rolled out the update to LTE and I did it so I have been running on the LTE towers.
Bloatware
How can I get rid of Bloatware? There's so much crap on my new T999-L that i don't want or need. I rooted it using this one-click root method from wonderhowto so I'm not running any custom ROM, just stock. I went through Root Explorer to try to find where all the bloatware is hiding and didn't notice any of the apk's. This is the second time I am rooting a device myself. The first time I tried was over a year ago and I soft-bricked my Galaxy S Relay and it took me a long time to get it back to original stock where I kept it until it's demise due to a bootloop.

PS - still not happy that I have Lollipop on my 2012 Kindle Fire HD 7, but can't get it on the G Pad.

When they ask for internet connection or say they can't access the server, just ignore it. Trust me. Just drag any dialogs out of view and don't pay any attention to them. I just have someone else the same advise. The program still works while it's complaining.

NJ5 Gear VR?
Is anyone able to confirm whether or not NJ5 stock works with the Gear VR on DE?
So would it be a bad idea to update just using the software update in the phones settings menu? Or should I do it by running odin? What actual difference does this make? Will this cause me issues once we do have a root method for this device?
would like to know, do I need to use a full firmware or partial firmware to update to lollipop?
Clarify instructions
Hello,
I'm fairly new to Android. That being said, I'm also new to flashing using Odin. I've searched for quite awhile for "detailed" instructions of Odin, but can't seem to find any. I did find a few things here and there but I would like to know what each and every entry does in the program. If someone can point me to the full instructions (link), I would greatly appreciate it.
Beyond that, the reason I'm posting here is that I'm a little confused by the directions given to use Odin in this thread. Line #5 states... "Add the *.tar.md5 file to AP / PDA". Looking at Odin 3.09, I don't see any "PDA" section anywhere. Is the reference to "PDA" simply something that AP used to be called before and is now not present in Odin 3.09?
Keep in mind that newbies like myself can get confused by small things. We don't want to make any mistakes we'll regret later. I hope you can relate and understand.
Attached a photo of what I'm asking about.
Thanks!

Sorry I can't answer the first part of your question. The answer to the second part is use AP. And yes AP was called PDA in previous versions. :good:

Had to restore and need to make sure I have the right firmware...Please help
It has been a very long time since I have posted to the threads. I have been with android since the very beginning and have flashed and done the custom rom thing quite a bit. I am stumped with this one though and I cannot find any information on it after searching for two days. I have the developer edition Note 4 and I had to do a restore on it because I did not like lollipop. I don't know if I have the right firmware. Even though everything is working alright, it just doesn't feel right. I am listing my firmware stuff below. Please tell me if I am right. I also don't know why my build number is NK5 and my baseband is NJ5. The way that I restored was flashing the stock NJ5 and then the nj5 to nk5 like for the lollipop update. The only difference is that I stopped there and loaded TWRP and root. Any help is much appreciated.
This is what I have currently:
BASEBAND: N910VVRU1ANJ5
KERNEL: 3.10.0
BUILD NUMBER: KTU84P.N910VVRU1ANK5
Is this correct?
Thanks!

Only if you have a developer edition. You DO NOT want to update the developer edition with the updater in the phone or you will lock your bootloader. Otherwise I dont see a reason not to update with the phone. These files here are if you brick your phone and need to do a restore.

I pulled the trigger and all went well. I did get into three bootloops but pulled the battery each time until it finally gave in and booted up into KK. Not sure what went on there. Once I got through, I powered down, entered into the root menu, cleared cache/wiped data and restarted again. All is good, so it worked! Back in KK!
Lollipop does seem to run faster/smoother... and colors are nice... but I disliked the interface.
1) The notification panel is lighter blue in LP than in KK and so contrast is diminished. Old people have a hard time with contrast issues... and I'm OLD!
2) Don't like that LP phone number pad has no separators. No biggie but I like KK better.
3) Don't like how they added a floating icon in LP in contacts. It blocks some of my contact's info, so I have to scroll just to read it. Also, the icon makes the interface look "cheesy". Bad move in my opinion.
4) There are other things I dislike, but forgot what they were since I'm back to KK!!!!
Thanks for the help and reassurance!:good:

N910VVRU1BOAF Firmware
Hello,
I have a N910VVRU1BOAF that got updated to Lollipop but needs to go back to KitKat. I downloaded the Full Firmware from the first post and followed instructions from post #3. The flash runs without errors and shows PASS at the end, but when the phone reboots no changes have been made to it and its still running Lollipop. It looks like if all I did to the phone was just rebooting it. Sorry for the noob question. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
My bad. Just found out what I missed. N910VVRU1BOAF is lollipop, so I just need to flash N910VVRU1ANJ5.
Thanks to all.

Your Baseband, and Kernel match my verizon retail note 4 that is still running KK as delivered from the factory. My Build number is KTU84P.N910VVRU1ANJ5 though (i.e., Baseband and Build are both ...J5).
Good evening everyone. I am now the proud owner of a Vzw Note 4 Developer edition I had got this phone rooted and ROMd running NI1 firmware and Beanstalk rom 5.0.2 and kernel version 3.10. I've been roaming and searching for help trying to backup my Efs(ABOOT). I've tried using EFS pro tool several times and having no luck with it working. While creating a new setup as described in the efs pro guide for this device, i set three names for file, description, and device, click on read pit(pit shows up) click save and refresh manage button, select my created list but nothing shows up on the pit description to backup so i am unable to make a efs backup. Ive tried also with the terminal emulator method but both pc and note 4 cannot detect device.... Su works fine and have Superuser 2.46 and busybox current installed , I've granted permission and given remember this sync key. I just have 2 question' pertaining to my story since i can't find anything helpful with the ni1 firmware/baseband. 1) do i need to unroot and use stock restore for NI1 to get back to full stock rom and firmware than update to nj5 firmware in order to get efs pro to work with my note 4 or can i just follow the single step update to OAF firmware from the NI1 firmware if i want to go to Mod57s pac rom 5.1? 2) if someone would be so kind to explain the order of operation of updating for firmware and rom.. (i. E) flash firmware before rom or rom before firnware? I only see mention of firmware updating losing custom recovery and root but not which order needed to be flashed? I apologize for the long trip but without having a backup of my aboot or efs i don't want to chance doing something the wrong way. Thank you all so much for your time

I'm running CM14 on a retail edition (rooted obviously), can I just flash the modems only? Any knowledge of them working with CM14?
Thanks in advance.
