How can I install the newest version of the andriod market on my phone?

Regarding market it will automatically update to the newest version. We don't need to update it. The present market version is 2.3.6
Check it under settings/applications/manage applications/all/market.

For me, latest market design is buggy, icons are cut off, no carousel and stuff like that
To prevent questions, no, i dont use custom lcd density.

Privacy App

Hi,
Which application are you using for privacy protection ? I'm looking for an app that can change application permission.
I have looked at several solutions, like PDroid, LBE, or Per App Setting Module, but none of them really satisfactory, because either not compatible with ARHD 6.1 or none open-source Chinese code...

I am really curious about this question too.
I really wish to install and have the best setup off apps that give the best privacy on our Android phone.
Like we can do with Linux and windows with so many programs (hips, sandbox, firewall, antivirus, etc...).
I have used LBE Privacy Guard and was great, is the closest thing similar to firewall/hips, but can we really trust on that company?
Pdroid I never used, but if is opensource I think is better trustwortly, but the disadvantage of Pdroid is that not run on background like a hips/firewall =S
I hope too we have more posts and better solutions about this topic...

[Q] Kindle App crashing

Hello everyone! I apologize if this isn't the right forum or if this question has already been addressed. If so, please direct me to where I should be.
I recently was given a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 that I've rooted CyanogenMod 11.0 onto. (I found the Amazon OS to be garbage)
Its working spectacularly, with one irritating exception; the Amazon Kindle app crashes immediately and cannot be opened. I've switched to Google play books in the meantime, but I have some books I haven't read yet in my Amazon account .
I've already tried many troubleshooting steps. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, turned on and off developer settings, cleared cache, etc. Does anyone have any solutions? Is anyone else running into this same issue? I greatly appreciate any help or advice.

You're the best. Instead of downloading the old app, I followed some links through that thread and found information about editing my build.prop to make the app work. Everything is smooth as butter now!
I guess since the device was still reporting itself as an Amazon Kindle, the app would just shut down, probably something Amazon did to discourage modding their devices. So I changed the device to read as a Nexus 7
If anyone else is curious, there is a build.prop editing app in the Google Play store. I can't post a link to the website that showed me what to do since I'm new, but it was on the N2ACards website.

Yes, its to do with the build prop, one of the latest versions of CM11 on the dev forums has a version with this patched into it which fixes issues with some apps.

So many problems. I have lots of questions

OK can someone please help. I bought my samsung Galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition 3G in Vietnam. Here are the issues with it.
1.Every time it turns on or restarts TouchWiz crashes.
2.I can't find a way to update to kitkat without rooting.
3.(I know this one is discussed a lot but I still haven't found a fix) the wallpaper won't fit right no matter what app I use I have tried downloading huge pictures I have used wallpaper wizardrii and a few other apps to get scrolling wallpapers and to get the wallpaper to fit in landscape and portrait without it being pixelated but it still won't fit right.
I know everyone on here gets made when you don't ask the right questions in the right place or you don't weed through pages and pages of conversations in hopes to find the answer you are looking for but I have looked and I can't find an answer to any of these things so before someone bites my head off maybe direct me to the right place.

Okay here we go
1. Go to app settings and clear cache for the tw launcher. If that doesn't help delete data (beware all your home screen settings get deleted). If it's still bugs after that you either make a factory reset or try an alternative launcher like Nova.
2. KitKat has only been released to some specific countries atm. You can check www.sammobile.com to see which ones. If it isn't released for your country you can flash any firmware through ODIN. As far as I know that doesn't require root and doesn't trip knox if it's an official firmware. (Best to read up on this stuff before doing anything)
3. Use the app "simple image wallpaper". Does wonders.

Hi I have some problem with my note 10.1 2014 edition. After flashing new rom wich is [ROM][SM-P600][XXUCND3][4.4.2] ★★xKat v3.2.1★★ (21.06.2014) The problem is when I try charge my baterry and I conect cable the tablet is switch on why ???? Please help

1) Did you buy the Note new or secondhand/refurbished?
2) How long ago have had it?
3) Has it always displayed this behaviour since you had it?
4) Are you on stock rom (unrooted)?
5) Have tried to reinstal stock rom?
Answers to these questions will help forum members/developers narrow down what the problem(s) might be, and suggest what you need to do to correct it.

I bought it new and I have had it for about 4 months. It has always had these problems. It is not rooted. And I am afraid to try and reinstall the stock rom. I bought an HTC one x here that had some problems and rooting it made it worse. Asia gets the crap that is left over from stuff sent to the west.

Hi
You have the following options:
1) Return the tab for replacement (new) or re installation of stock rom as it is only 4 months old and never worked properly.
2) Follow option 1 in clouds5's post above: clear cache for Touchwiz in setting/general/application manager/all
3) Factory reset/clear cache/clear dalvik in stock recovery and reboot. It is safe to do so but you will lose all your data.
4) Reinstall stock rom (with Odin) for your region from Samsung-updates.com
These options should solve the problems if there are no hardware faults.

Yes, of course. Check 'Samsung-updates.com' or 'Sammobile.com' for Kitkat 4.4.2 update for your device, and install with ODIN. Here are the links:

There is no need to root your device to install kitkat, and it will not trip Knox because it is official samsung firmware.

Whatsapp requires system update??

I'm unable to start whatsapp on my phone, it asks for a system update. There's an update available for the app as shown attached with new permission requirements.

If updating the system is not an option for you, I would try doing an update though the Google Play Store. (Assuming you have it on your phone)

It's not possible to get the google play store to work on the Fire Phone on 3.6.6 unfortunately.
I'll see if I can do it through 1mobile. Thanks for the suggestion!

Don't trust 1mobile!! I downloaded the BBM apk and had it scanned with the NVISO APK scanner and it showed it as suspicious. It detected 1mobile entries within its code.

It worked through 1mobile, updated fine and now works fine too.
I've not had any issues with 1mobile to be honest, I always make sure it's from the play store

Can't you just update to 3.6.8 and install the play store...or download what's app from the website, it updates without the need for a play store

Maybe downgrade is possible at 3.6.6 (somebody else downgrade to 3.6.2 without problems)
If thats possible you maybe can root your phone with downgrade to 3.5, too! With root you're able to install google services etc properly.

The app, even the latest version from google play doesn't work ? it won't even let me start it. I can't upgrade to 3.6.8 as that bin is not available, and a downgrade won't be possible because it's a UK device and not US. It launched here with 3.6.2.
That was me btw that managed the downgrade ?
I can only wait to see what happens. Something needs to be done by whatsapp or Amazon, other people have complained about it too on the Appstore. It might suggest an update is imminent?

I have a German device (tmobile) and know I use 3.5 at&t without problems
You can use other carrier firmwares without problems!

i'm on 3.6.8 and the same issue happened to me with whatsapp, for the heck of it, i've even mayday with amazon tech support to try resolving the update loop. They were not able to resolve it but mentioned that they will write to the dev. I have downloaded whatapps from google playstore instead and it worked for me.
