I tried changing my wifi mac address on my g3 using the Mac Spoofer (app) and it broke my wifi and now it wont turn on.
I still have my original mac address, tried changing it back on the same app and it didn't work.
I tried other apps but they won't even open because they can't detect my mac address.
Under wifi settings, Mac is shown as unavailable.
Can anyone help me to change it back?
Thanks!
This is the app that ruined my life
I fixed it! Just went to data/misc/wifi and deleted everything in it!
help
I did the same thing with the same app. Can you explain a little where you went data/misc/wifi. I tried file manager but can't get there. Thanks

/data is a system mount, you'll need to root the phone.
how to root my phone ?

So I was there with the perfect setup, but I was browsing the Rom Manager and noticed a Wifi N enabler in the Radios section. Looks good right? If anything breaks I can revert to a backup? Right? No. Wrong. I flashed it while running the latest Tiamat on cyanogen 7 rc1. Thing is... not only is it not compatible with Tiamat, but it's also not needed on cyanogen 7... now all my backups come complete with wifi that gives me Error when I try to use it. What do I do?
Still need some help. How can I reset my wifi? Would a factory reset be the only way?
I hate people that bump their own threads and I hate doing it, but I'm desperate. What can fix my wifi? I've tried everything! It's killing my battery.

I'll help you because I feel your pain. Didn't have internet for a week once and I pretty much had to walk around the house with an extension cord. Can only help bump though, can't answer it. I believe my Speedy already supports wireless n =)

snowblower, you should be able to simply copy and paste the bcm4329.ko file from original rom zip into /system/lib/modules/ with an app like Root Explorer.
Extract the file from the rom archive.
Go to extracted location.
Copy the file.
Navigate to /system/lib/modules/ on your phone.
Mount R/W.
Paste the file.
Change the permissions to rw-r--r--. (Long-press file)
Change Owner and Group to 0 - root. (Also long-press)
Mount R/O.
Reboot phone.
(You can also accomplish all the steps above with ADB if you don't want to install Root Explorer.)
I've been trying to get wireless N working on my EVO for days now, but nothing seems to work and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Luckily, the method described above always seems to fix my WiFi if something I try breaks it. Hope it works for you!
It's happend few days ago, phone cannot connect automatically to wifi which accessed before, after some researched i find out how to reset wifi setting and it worked for me.
Phone need root and simply rename or delete the folder /data/misc/wifi then reboot.
Done
P.s. i think it also clear other wifi problem
I use Es file explorer on daily basis, and it's worked perfectly until I upgraded to Android 4.4.4. When I tried to copy file from phone to win pc shared folder (like I done many many times before), it starts for a couple of seconds and then stop, say "time left: computing..." and after that "task failed". I tried everything, reinstalling app, flashing rom again (Viper 3.0.1), flashing firmware again because I know that wifi won't work without new firmware (wifi working properly), but i flashed again just in case. Then I tried another rom (ARHD) and it is the same. Then I revert back to Android 4.4.3 (Viper 2.5.0), and it worked again! Then I tried dirty-flash Viper 3.0.1 and it don't working anymore... I tried also Go file master, but it won't work ether.
So I think it is problem with android 4.4.4, because I tried two different apps with two different 4.4.4 roms and result is the same.
Can anyone who is on android 4.4.4 try to send some file, let's say around 100-200mb, with Es and see if it works? Thanks!
Program is free and on Play Store.

Hello, as an ES File Explorer user, I would like to help you solve your issue. Have you tried using your administrator's logon credentials? You're supposed to type them into the fields as you add your computer (in LAN tab).
Also, you should know that if your IP address to your computer is re-assigned, the connection will be broken, as the IP you originally typed in will no longer work. Maybe in 4.4.3 the IP was the way you wanted it. Try to make it right this time. I will try to recreate your issue on my phone (running 4.4.4 as well) and get back to you.

Thanks for trying to help.
Like I sad, tried everything, and I'm very familiar about ip. First, I totally uninstall es, reboot the phone, install es again from market. There is no assigned lan computers jet. Then, in lan tab, click on scan, and ip address of my computer are showed. When I click on it I can see shared files and folders on my computer, and I can access them. So connection is fine. When I tried to copy large file, 100-200 MB, it starts for couple of seconds and transfer couple of MB, then stop and sad task failed.
Interesting thing is that when I tried to copy FROM pc TO phone, it works without issues and I can transfer large files without any problem. So the problem is copying from phone to pc.
I tried this on three different places, it means 3 different routers, 3 different pcs, 3 different operation systems (XP, WIN7, WIN8.1), and the problem is there.
Like you can see in my first post, I tried to re-flash firmware and rom again, tried different rom, but could not solve the problem. Only when I revert back to android 4.4.3, everything worked again, but again on 4.4..4 not working like described.
Can you try to copy some large file from phone to pc (like one episode of some series) and tell if it working for you? Thanks.
Have you tried contacting the app developer? Its possible the app just hasn't been updated to be compatible with 4.4.4.
ES is a great app. Its been my go-to file explorer for some time now (although I don't use the particular function you are having a problem with). Hope you get the issue sorted out.
No, I haven't, but yes, that could be the problem. But I tried one or two similar apps and have the same problem...
Anyway, I currently using Sambadroid for transferring files and it's working, but like es better and hope it will work like it should in next version.
In Sambadroid I access files on the phone from pc explorer...
So, I tried 2-3 sense roms and the problem is there, but today I installed aosp rom to try it, and ES works without any problems. Strange...
With the latest rooted custom rom. One thing I've noticed is ez file explorer does not work unless on wifi. Has anything changed? Is there a way to make it work wired?

I have the same question. Is it not possible on wired?

It used to work in the earlier firmware. I'm on the latest version of the rooted amazon firmware. The one earlier to this, it worked just fine. I've made a few firetv's and have the same setup for everyone. My parents have the earlier firmware and on wired, ftp can be enabled. It has something to do with the firmware but can't pin point. I've since downloaded the ftp server from amazon (link below) and that works for now but I like EZ file explorer better.

I connect on WiFi and wired using the Lan tab. For stick I couldn't get it to work at all. Needed to use ftp server from play store.
Btw--before the update I used adbfire to mount smb drives and I could see sdcard and USB but now I can't see USB storage. There are ways to do it such as cyberduck on Mac and a sftp server on aftv (forgot the exact name of the app.) But would rather keep it simple.
I thought I tried the Lan tab. Will go back and check...
In the meantime, I installed 'Ftp Server Ultimate' onto my FTV from the Play Store and set it up to start the ftp server at boot and can connect to extUsb and internal. Works really well.
Another note, if u install AndFTP from the Play store to your phone and configure it to connect to your FTV ftp server, you can u use your phone file browser, like ES, to long press files on your phone, select share, and share the file to AndFTP and then select your FTV. Works awesome.

I have Es on all my devices but find I get much faster transfers over Lan so I use that except on stick where I can't get ftp to work without the ftp server installed.
****actually I might've unintentionally misled you about the lan connection. I've just been using it so long I forgot. I have funkyfresh samba installed on both boxes and pretty sure that's why the Lan tab works in ES. You need root for that (I'm pretty sure you do anyways).
Ok thanks. Yes, I have root and I dont use wifi with FTV. Im not using samba...but that would make sense. Guess we're outa luck with ES and ftp...no biggie. I like the FTP Server Ultimate setup tho.
Whenever I type a password and connect to a WiFi network , the password is forgotten as soon as I turnoff WiFi. I tried looking it up and some people said it has something to do with efs . If it's corrupted, how do I fix it? And if there's an another solution , your help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is your phone set up to backup data to Google? In other words, is the backup option in Settings enabled and an account selected?
If not, set it up. Also delete cache and data from Google Backup Transport and restart your phone.
