If you are running stock the on STAMINA mode. Also turn down brightness, turn off GPS and Bluetooth. Then see.
*blink*
yes, i'm experiencing the same, coc draining baterry a lot, if you're using wifi, try to switch the phone to flight mode and turn on wifi, if not, make sure your signal reception good, if the reception poor, it'll cost you more power.
a simple advice is don't play it whole time, just play it when necessary

There is an app called Greenify.. Try It. . It will be very helpful to increase battery life. .
Play games with airplane mode (if no internet is needed), use stamina mode, turn brightness down, keep volume low/ untick xloud in settings > sound (might not notice a difference), untick "touch sounds"/"vibrate on touch", kill processes of apps you're not using when playing the game, and untick "use suto rotate screen" in settings > accessibility
I ll advice you guys to stop playing CoC.. ?

Maybe you need double power battery
in CM12.x, go to setting/batterry/battery saver. and you'll get performance and multitasking and battery saved..

Already off. Sometimes I use airplane mode.
I'm down to 0% after 4 hours with an extended battery... lucky.

What ROM/kernel are you using? Also, try out the app BetterBatteryStats to see what's draining all that power.
Streaming music, especially in an area with a low signal, will rape your battery life.

I have the same battery issues. It drains a lot when playing games and using wifi.
I hope Sony releases a battery fix in Ice Cream Sandwich when it's released.
+1 for betterbatterystats
Helps identify any annoying apps keeping the phone awake. Had an old version of getjar which was a pain in the backside doing kernel wakes all the time!
I'm on stock and I get a bit obsessed about trying to get my phone to last 2 days, even though I work in an office so could charge whenever I want.
So I end up not using it to it's full potential tbh.
However for me I did the following:
Rooted
Added CWM
Flashed a zip for notification toggles.
Then turn data on only when I want it.
Also installed titanium backup.
Search on google 'safe remove apps xperia play xda'. Their is a thread which gives you loads of stuff you can delete (after backing up with titanium of course!. Not only did it make my phone feel so much more responsive (freeing up RAM obviously), not having those apps does make a difference to the battery life.
I can now go with 30mins gaming, some texting, a short call or two and checking twitter / fb, switching to wifi when home in the eve and have all connections turned off over night and manage 30-40 hours from the phone.
That I can cope with
I'm currently running 4.1.2 stock, rooted. With Locked BL. The battery drain has been absolutely shocking. Help
Download from play store this app: Du Battery Saver&Switch Widget! I have this app since last week and it really works...
People in here are right. Greenify it's more than enough. But also Du Battery Saver can do the trick, what's great about it is that is lowering your CPU frequency when screenlock, so try them out.

Use screen settings as low as possible. Trust me, thats the main cause of fast battery drain.
Use Lux auto brighteness. Its a good app.
Next one , use titanium backup to freeze the app that you are not using. Its always a good to freeze app, so it wont run in the background and u can save RAM.
Use greenify. Thats the best app for hibernating the apps. That way both battery and RAM is saved.
And use DU battery Saver , thats also an awesome app. in which u can set the phone to change your profile on time basis, and lower frequency of cpu when screen is locked so battery is saved.
Hope u got some ways to prevent battery drain to a limit
Those apps are all great, but why have a HD Screen phone when you have to lower the screen brightness to a minimum, that sucks.

It's very simple, at du battery select saver at the bottom and create your own custom mode!
Thank you all for the responses, I will try out all the suggested apps and get back to you all. Thank you!
Keep the brightness around 35%. I find it perfect for indoors. Your screen on time should be atleast between 2:30 to 3 hrs on average.
Use darker wallpapers
And underclock to 1.2ghz or something if you dont use resource hungry apps. Use conservative governor and noop scheduler.
Trinity ROM
Screen brightness at 35%
Stamina mode on
Using greenify
Only 2G networks
Moderate Wi-Fi usage
Default CPU frequencies
Also, don't use battery savers like go battery saver and battery doctor, they only turn down brightness and data networks, alot of them don't have a great effect in battery life. Use apps that freeze/hibernate apps like greenify and snapdragomln battery guru.

so i did realise that you had your screen on alot of the time.... that is generaly 1 reason why , i can watch 8 hours straight of movies on my XS where as on a stock rom about 3 hours , so the XS battery realy depends
list
sometimes the battery will just need to be used normaly just so it can calibrate its self (some weird reason not using my XS for 2 days fixed my battery issues)
i suggest checking if there are any apps that run in the background, just remove them if you dont need them (could prevent your XS from sleeping and also a posible overheat)
I also suggest making sure that your brightness isnt too high, (obviess)
the more you use your XS the shorter the battery lasts day by day, it is nessicary to not use your xs too much as it will take a few days for the life to go back to normal ,(like i said i had a simular issue)
I can see a strange behavior of Mediaserver process. It consumes too much battery. Usually it points to the problem with scanning your media files.
You can use BetterBatteryStats to find out the cause of it.
i got a second hand xperia play...new stock battery...but my phone heats even when i m not using it...and the battery drains very fast, like 3% every 5 minutes even when the screen is off....i flashed stock roms, custom roms kernels, used battery calibration but no luck at all...anybody got any idea to fix this issue??or my phone is dying??:crying:
set your cpu governor and lower the frequency using No Frills Cpu . the phone's cpu is the one that causing heat and battery drain..

I already tried that bro..but no luck at all...can u suggest other methods??even used smartassh3,smartassv2,intellidemand,interactive...i'm using lowest value for minimum CPU frequency...and maximum is 1GHZ..so this didn't work....:crying:
As a 3 year Play owner I experience that, but only when gaming or browsing at 2.3.4 .42 FW. At FXP 240 or Dany XP's ICS beta it doesn't seem to drain fast.
i don't know if the cpu has a connection with the battery, although I've experienced the battery gone from 100% all the way to 5% in 2 hours.

I think the battery is like messed up, just search on ebay for an xperia play battery,
Yeah seems like a battery problem. How about the Mugen 1800mAh? You get a same-sized battery with 300mAh more power. At least with Mugen you can be sure it's not some knock off battery from China.

I have the same problem :crying: anyone can help :crying:
Same problem here but it used to be a lot more common for me than it is now. Just like others have said, overheating occurs only when gaming or browsing on the internet for long amounts of time.

I can't tell if its a hardware problem or a rom problem. There are many possibilities. I hear some say their internet doesn't work or their game pad doesn't work, however this can be a ROM based problem. What rom are you currently using for the xperia? You could also send your phone to repair and see if its a hardware problem causing all this.
Althoughi have the 'same' problem it's not that bad for me i can still live with it. Some tips i'm using are:
Settings -> Developer Options -> Force GPU 2D Rendering (better graphics score for 2D graphics)
Settings -> Developers Options -> User Interface -> Windows Sale Animations -> 0.5x or 0
Wireless & Networks
Settings -> More... -> Mobile Networks > Network Mode -> GSM only (Saves battery)
Settings -> More... -> Mobile Networks > Data Enabled -> untick (Turn on from toggle when needed, saves battery)
Device
Settings -> Sound -> Vibrate on touch -> untick (Improve performance, saves battery)
Settings -> Display -> Sleep -> 30 seconds is more than enough (Saves battery)
Settings -> Display -> Brightness -> Auto brightness on with minimum brightness (Increase when needed from slider control, saves battery)
Personal
Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Turn off (Sync manually when needed, saves battery)
Settings -> Location Services -> Turn off (Turn on from toggle when needed, saves battery)

Hello
Im using CM 10.1
And I am trying to turn off the front LEDs
If any of you could step by step me how to turn it off will appreciate
Also if you could give me advice on how to save battery
Thanks in advance
The front LED can be disabled by going to Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Button Backlight Brightness and set it to 0.
Saving battery is pretty simple. You can use Greenify to kill apps running in background and save RAM and battery. Turn off data when not in use, lower screen brightness are some of the things you can do as well.

Thank you sir that was so simple
As for greenify will give it a try
Do you have any Idea of what battery life I should expect ?
Thanks again

The battery life will depend on what apps you chose to hibernate, but I got a battery drop of 1% every 2 hours when I use network without data connection on the same ROM on standby.

Hello People
My phone charger recently went "kaput" on me so I've been using the built in Extreme Battery Saver mode a lot. I really like the functionality of this and was wondering if there was a way to start this mode when you put your phone to sleep no matter what your battery level.
Say for example I was at 80% battery and I put the phone to sleep is there an app or maybe a Tasker profile that is out there that would make the extreme battery saver mode start automatically ?
Thanks
Calvo

To directly answer your question... I'm not sure. But that's what battery "saver" apps apparently do also.
But as long as you don't have an issue with wakelocks, there should be no reason to do this. Most will tell you that in fact, you'll likely waste more battery life you save... Just like battery "saver" apps. Reinitializing data, WiFi and whatever else you have, every time you turn on the screen will waste more battery than the small amount of drain they normally cause while in standby.
Keep location off. Google now off. Keep screen controlled manually and as dim as is comfortable. And watch for poor signal while on data. That's all you need basically to have good battery life. (that's a simple look at it anyway)
My 2 cents. :good:
