Selfie Stick shows as a external keyboard - General Accessories

I recently got a selfie stick as a gift over xmas. it has a shutter button on it and it connects via bluetooth. At first it was pressing the volume up key to take photos witch is what I want for use with Snapchat. now it shows as a external keyboard and when the button is presses it selects something on the screen rather than volume up. can anyone help with getting the button to link to the volume up command? I have a Galaxy S5 running stock 5.0 thanks!

Using Galaxy R's volume up/down button.

The bundled earphones of Galaxy R has volume up/down buttons. The button worked with Galaxy S2. But when I connected it to my GN, it worked as Prev/Next Track.
Since it means that the hardware is recognising the signal, all I would have to to do is to modify the software so that pressing that button is recognised as 'volume up' instead of 'Prev'. I know there is a keyboard map in /system/usr/.... I tried to modify one but I did not know which one.
Can you tell me where I should modify?

Or it would be great if someone can just let me know earphones with volume controls that works with GN.
maybe /system/usr/keylayout/sec_jack.kl, and maybe AVRCP.kl, then /system/usr/keychars/ I don't know does those files need editing...

When you hit volume up, then hit the settings cog next to the volume sliding bar, can you manipulate the sound there?

thanks for reply. that give same option to configure sound.
no luck
I feel it is speaker issue ( hardware)
I would try a master reset, if that didn't work then it's time for a trip to TMo for a replacement.
Let us know what the problem was when you figure it out.

[Q] Headset Play/Pause functionality has stopped working

Hey All,
I jsut flashed the stock rooted NJ1 build, Everything seems fine EXCEPT the "Page Buddy" pages are all blank (no default apps) and the play and pause functionality on my headset has gone the way of the dodo.
I know there are 3rd part apps for the button functionality but I shouldn't need anything new on a stock ROM.
The button works fine for answering calls and the mic is fine so it isn't a hardware problem. I used a key test app and a "79" is reported when the button is pressed (regardless of which of my headsets i use) but i dont get any key press registered for volume up or down.
I can only assume the play/pause functionality and the blank page buddy screens are somehow related.
Would really like any guidance the community can provide.
Thanks

[Q] How to set volume button for snapping photo(selfie stick)

Hey all,
I've just bought a wired selfie stick for my G3, and don't know how to set the camera button to shoot the photo.
It works well on iPhone 6+ and Samsung S4, and i suppose I need to set volume up key for shooting photos and I don't know how.
Thanks in advance.

As far as I remember you can take pictures with volume buttons since ICS on every phone. I just tried and it doesn't matter if I press volume up or down, it snaps a photo.
If your already using such a weird stick, you can also use voice recognition, which acutally works really good.

S7 headphones on S9: Volume buttons don't work right

I'm trying to use my old S7 headphones with my new S9.
The play/skip button works fine, but Volume UP button causes a Volume DOWN event, and Volume Down button causes some weird selection of the first tappable item on the screen!
What the heck?
Any fix for this?
