I like the retail note 4. The screen is fabulous and its fast. However I cannot get by being inundated by the advertisments. Some are full page when I open aps and others flash at the top or bottom of the screen. Very distracting.
Is there an ap or a way to eliminate or at least remove most of the ads. Please be specific. I have gone back to my rooted, unlocked note 2. Will return the 4 if I cannot resolve this issue on the retail 4.
Unfortunitly I do not want to spend 700 for a DE note4. Thanks

Thanks. I read thru this excellent thread and tried adblock plus. I had the same problem other vzw owners had. You cant add a new apn on the vzw varrient. I was hoping someone had another solution.

I have a 180 day free trial code for the Pro version that I haven't activated yet so if someone wants it let me know.
until there is Root, there's not much you can do about it. Adblock Plus works if you're on wifi, but I noticed that it sucks more battery power and makes the phone run hotter than usual.
My solution was to sell my Retail note 4 (since with all the rebates, I only paid $100 for it), and buy a DE Note 4.

A cheaper (temporary) solution would be to use your apps in 'Airplane Mode,' assuming it is not too much of an inconvenience :good:
I usually do this when there is no paid version for an app/game :3
In hindsight I guess that it's pretty obvious lol but I'm going to leave it here anyways

I posted a link to it up a few posts, I was using it before I got my DE and it works, I did not notice any increase in battery usage either.
I still have a 180 day trial code for the Pro version if someone wants it.
I made thread covering adguard and works great. Developer even jumped in thread to explain. It creates it's own vpn.Only way to block ads on a unrooted device. Adblock will only work on WiFi without root. AdGuard works on both WiFi & Cellular!
I'm liking the free version so far. If you don't mind passing along the key for the pro version, I'd happily take it. I've been impressed with it so far.

Got to admit it, Adgaurd is working awesome. I activated the the pro trial version and it's blocking everything MOAAB or Jrummys ad blocker did. Ads and themes are the main reasons I root. No I just need a dark them and I'm set. I'll probably end up getting the one year license if we don't get root soon.

Just wondering what, if any, phone finding software people prefer. I had installed SeekDroid on my previous phone when it was a free download from amazon. Prior to that I remember at some point having wavesecur when it first came out but now that is mcafee. Not having insurance on this phone I'm thinking of installing SeekDroid back on it.

seekdroid, also on the free amazon day. Does just what is says, and doesn't seem to cause any issues. Nice to see they added texting recovery/locking/wiping options recently also, so you don't need to have internet handy when you realize your phone is gone, you can just borrow someones phone.

Just got my T-mo GSIII, and just wanted to see what wireless tethering apps work, if any. I need something to keep me until AOSP roms come to the US GSIII. I'm going away for 2 weeks today, and desperately need internet access for my laptop, but find the fees for tethering rediculous.
Once rooted I use wifi tether from the market, works great.
Try Foxfi it works pretty good

+1 for FoxFi. Market > Install > Activate Hotspot > Done.
Easy peasey lemon sqeezey.
Wow, Sprint blocked this from the market on my phone and on the desktop it states Foxfi is not available on your carrier. Foxfi does provide an external link though, thumbs up for them.
Not working on Verizon?

Try using the Market Access app. It will spoof your carrier so you can access the apps available on the market from TMobile or AT&T.

I understand your concern. I can honestly tell you that i have tethered my computer, and downloaded torrents, using upwards of 4-5 gbs in one sitting, as well as used my PS4, and PS3 all of my note 3. So far this month, i have used 27 GB
Thanks by the way, im glad you liked the video
Thanks for the reply. That was the only concern i had with the video was that it was with an ipad bc of how tmobile sees data come through. I am debating getting another t-mobile line, activating that with my note 2 that i have sitting in my drawer, and hooking my note 2 into my wireless router, and serve internet to the entire house!
Not exactly sure if i want to cut ties with my ISP though....still thinking on it.

i totally agree brotha! I switched from AT&T about 1 month ago when they did the ETF promo....haven't looked back. Anddd i am saving roughly 100 bucks a month....that....is insane. All around better service, same amazing devices, UNLIMITED DATA, and lowest cost for a "big 4" wireless carrier.
Yup. I am in Pittsburgh and the service is very good here. I can't speak for traveling yet but in the metropolitan area i am in i could not be happier for 75 and change each month. I usually go through 100 plus gigs a month. I don't get why people who don't travel far even consider the other big carriers unless they have a family plan. ..that is another story.

I think T-mobile have just found out about it today. my internet got disconnecting around 1am central time. i was using modified apn. everything was working fine. i tried everything with no success, i called T-mobile, and they have to reset the signal, and reset the apn to its original setting. and then switch to 2g network, then switch to Auto. after all that i got my internet working. so i tried again to miss with the apn, what i found out is that no matter apn i use, will not work, unless i choose the protected apn. and my internet get disconnecting until i change to 2g then Auto.
What i believe is T-mobile have just known about the apn trick.
please everyone has the same issue report back.

Again, mobile hotspot doesn't work if you have unlimited data. Since it took about 6 months for the original Turbo to get mofo root, I have a feeling it's gonna take just as long, if ever. They still haven't found a way to write to the system within an image.
It's a shame, they got you good with getting you on a tiered line, and of course they're gonna give free mobile hotspot to tiered users for that exact reason that it eats up data. It gives you a greater chance of going over your data cap, therefore, putting more money into Verizon's greedy little pockets.
I usually average around 75GB a month, so there's no way I will EVER voluntarily give up my unlimited data. They're gonna have to pry it from my cold, dead hands before I ever give up my unlimited data.
