Since CM 12 is now official I didn't see any place to ask questions about bugs we find, so I thought this would be a good place. So far I've only come across three things.
1. When on a call, and the screen goes off, it won't come back on unless I press the power button twice. I take it the first one really turns the screen off, and the the second back on. I had the proximity issue on CM 11, and there was a fix I did through the terminal emulator, but it won't work on CM 12.
2. Under About phone the Model name shows "unknown".
3. Battery stats keeps showing Miscellaneous as the top use.
Other than those (which aren't deal breakers for me) CM 12 is super smooth, and very stable.
only issue i had was when not on wifi and in the playstore it would reset playstore on my bought apps list. worked fine on wifi though. even benchmarked better then kitkat with antutu. didn't get the incall issue though but i don't think the screen shut off either. will give cm12 some more time before i try it again but definately like what they have done so far

Quick update. Blank screen on calls is fixed. I updated BL and Modem to NK3, but I also am on today's nightly, so I don't know which one fixed it. As far as battery showing Misc, it's still there, but after asking around, it's not a bad thing, it's just a stat shown computed used vs real use. Model name still showing unknown.
Super smooth ROM. I recommend it even with those "bugs".
Music not in track order.
Huge bug I can't figure out. Google Play Music, and the music player that comes with CM 12 show all albums in ABC order, and not track order. I had to install PowerAmp to get them in track order. I removed all music from SD card, formatted card, and put music back on, but still in ABC order (except for PowerAmp). Any suggestions?
System settings FC and auto update
I run into an error that I cannot access system settings and since I cannot do that I cannot do download update from my phone. I noticed the error occured when Greenify tried to load, but was unsuccessful. I have uninstalled Xposed and Greenify since then, but I am still having this issue. Any thoughts?

Xposed is not compatible with 5.0.x. You probably need to do a clean install, and don't use Xposed. Since Xposed changes framework, it's likely the issue.

All three are fixed as of 1/15/2015 nightly release. I've been on it for over five hours now, and it's running perfect.
Also Separate sliders for volumes have now also been included. Example: You can set ringer and notifications as two different levels now. That's a great addition.
The only thing I can see that is an issue for me is Google Play Music, and the stock music player, show albums in ABC order, and not track number order. PowerAmp is the only one that shows track numbers, and has them in that order.

You sure you're not missing something in the settings somewhere? Because I don't think anything you could do to a ROM would change the order that Google Play Music list things in. The stock player, maybe, but not a different one....

I've been trying to check everything. It's really odd. I can download an album I bought through Google Music, and the track numbers show, and are in the right order, but any albums I put on from PC transfer don't have them. I even started fresh with a clean install, and even deleted the music files, and re-copied them over. I'm stumped.

I just had a look at mine, and it seems like it sorts by track number, when present, but it reverts to sorting alphabetically when there aren't any track numbers....
This is probably stating the obvious, but are you sure that the albums in question have track numbers associated with them? Maybe there's something in the settings on the PC side of it, and it's not set to sync track numbers?
As I said before, I'm not aware of any way a ROM could have that effect, but I'm pretty much stumped....

PC shows them. I can copy an album from the phone to the PC, and as soon as it's copied, it shows track number as a column. I'll have to keep researching.

failed to flash? bad download?
I don't know what im doing wrong. Right now I have [ROM] DomPop v.0.2 TMobile N900T - TW Lollipop flashed and running fine but when I try to flash cwm 12 it just says failed on my twrp. ive got backups of my backups so im not stressing.. bad download?
android version 5.0.1
baseband version n900tuvudnf1
twrp v 2.6.3.8 -4.3-bl
btw does this rom have spen features?
See what boot loader you have. Considering the NF1 baseband, you'll probably have to update. And no, only TW ROMs have the S-Pen features, but somewhere around here there's a thread showing different ways/apps to replicate all the S-Pen stuff on non-TW ROMS.
It was a bad download. I redl'd it and everything went smooth as butter. Would it be worthwhile searching for and downloading the latest bootloader and recovery? Or should i just stick with what's working ?

I end up pointed to hltetmo through the TWRP website. With that recovery I get blocked from installing with a warning that the n900t is not supported. Several other devices are listed as supported. I got it installed with philz, but I was curious if htletmo and hlte merged in TWRP or you were just successfully using the other version. My phone is showing up as a n9005. Are you getting that as well? Any idea why n900t is showing up as unsupported?

I have just flashed Jellytime R16 to my DHD but have a slightly damaged touch screen. Unfortunately the part of the touch screen that doesn't work is the bit where you have to press the start button to move off the screen where you select the language on first boot up.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could skip the first configuration screen of the Jellytime R16 ROM?
I don't think it's permanent maybe a bad zip? Did you check MD5 checksum before you flash? And did you full wipe?
Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I do have a damaged touch screen nothing to do with the rom. There is a section of the touch screen that just doesn't work. It is this part that sits exactly where the start button is. It is a shame these start screens don't rotate or the start button was slightly bigger.
So if I could skip this fisr language selection screen I would probably be ok for using the rest of the rom.
I had quite a bit of trouble earlier today installing R16 due to the screen not working at all after the bootup. Had to pull the battery 2 times in a row and make sure the charger was unplugged before the screen would react to touch. Maybe you're also experiencing this thing (several others are reporting it in the JT thread).

This is a horrible suggestion for any other use and goes against everything we know about proper flashing, but if all else fails maybe try dirty flashing it over another ROM in which you CAN go through the first boot settings (for example, an ICS ROM that doesn't require the START button in that location). If the unexpected problems that sometimes arise from dirty flashes don't come up, you might be able to get into Jelly Time without the first boot menus.
Obviously, all the problems with dirty-flashing different ROMs come with this "solution."

Thats an interesting suggestion but the question there is which ICS ROM would give the best results?
I think I would prefer to have a full wipe on installation. So having a way of skipping that first configuration screen, or remotly pressing the start button or even been able to force it to rotate the screen would do the trick. However untill you have got past those first configuration screen you are locked into not been able to run any applications.
I was wondering if there was any way via ADB command line to achive this?

Yes there is. You can use the "adb shell input keyevent <event_code>" command.
You'll probably want to send the DPAD_CENTER command to click that button. I think its event code is 23. Try typing "adb shell input keyevent 23".
Try the code for KEYCODE_ENTER as well.. its 66.
There is a whole list of keyevents at this link:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
Just lookup the "Constant Value" in the description of whatever KEYCODE_xxx you're trying to simulate and use that constant value as the event_code for the command.
I've tried simulating the DPAD_LEFT and DPAD_RIGHT keypress and they're working like a charm
---------- Post added at 04:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:14 PM ----------
Yup. I've tried working with these Keycodes and they work fine.
Use event_codes 19 for UP, 20 for DOWN, 21 for LEFT, 22 for RIGHT to navigate to whatever button you need to press and then use 23 for pressing that button.
Should solve your problem.

Hi, did you flash Gapps as well? I've moved from ARHD (which has the configuration start screen) to JellyTime and never got the language or any other configuration start screen (which I'm glad to get rid of). I always full wiped, clean flashed just the ROM, then booted into the OS for the first time to check it out. No Gapps and no language/configuration screen - it would always go straight to the lock screen where I would just swipe to the right and it would ask me to choose either the Nova or Trebuchet launcher. I'd then rebooted into recovery again and flashed Gapps. Hope this helps.
if4ctOr, Thanks for your suggestion this is what I was originally looking for however I didn't get around to trying it as the idea that divche put forward was a much easier approach.
Divche: Thanks, that did the trick perfectly. I am also comming from ARHD so I thought I give your idea a try. I was flashing the Gapps at the same time but booting into the OS first then flashing the Gapps after that prevented the configuration popup.
I am currently swapping between ARHD and Jellytime using the recovery backups as I still haven't got everything installed and setup in the new ROM yet. I didn't realise but I had quite a few of my contacts as phone contacts and not google contacts so they didn't sync into the new rom. So I am looking for a soloution to that and also a way to move my sms messages over.
Eventually I am planning on using the Jelly time as my full time ROM but there are alot of updates to it at the moment, which is a good thing in making it stable. However it takes quite a while to apply all the applications and settings I use after doing a full wipe. Do you need to do this when flashing a new version of JT over a previous one or is there an easy way of doing that? As I read in a lot of places that you should always do a full wipe and that titainum backup is not recomended?

For moving SMS, I'd suggest this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5yaXRlc2hzYWh1LlNNU0JhY2t1cFJlc3RvcmUiXQ..
And as far as flashing the updates of JellyTime are concerned... It is recommended to always full wipe but you might get away with flashing the update over the previous version without a wipe. In some updates the author of the ROM explicitly says that full wipe is needed... in those cases you must. In other cases you can flash the ROM without the wipe which will keep your apps and data intact. However, it would still be better to wipe your cache and dalvik cache atleast.
Using Titanium Backup is not recommended at all when you're switching between different Android versions.. however I personally think it works ok when used between updates of the same ROM.

I also had all my contacts as phone contacts too. I chose to convert my contacts (and my calendar as well) to google for ease of syncing later on, so I have no tried and tested suggestions on how to maintain them as phone contacts. What I did was let HTC Sync synchronise with Outlook (I created a new PST file for this, then specified it in HTC Sync), then used GO Contact Sync Mod (sorry I can't post links yet) to sync it with my gmail account.
If you really wanted to leave as phone contacts, you could try Titanium Backup - but since your phone contacts are saved as system data it's a bad idea - so I'd recommend against it. If you're backing up your nandroid for ARHD, you could always try TiBu and let us know how it went - I think it was labeled Dialer Storage - filter to system data and just look through all the green-colored items for something that says "CONTACTS" or "PEOPLE".
However it takes quite a while to apply all the applications and settings I use after doing a full wipe. +1 to what if4!ct0r said regarding wiping before flashing.
There will always be some system settings that you will have to re-enter manually if you customize them a lot even when updating builds of the same ROM (probably because these are the system items that you shouldn't be restoring). These will depend on the ROM, but for me and JellyTime, the ones I had to redo were developer, lock screen, system/status bar, sound, display, language, as well as ringtone/sound notifications for alarms, messaging and calendar. Also you'll have to manually set up your widgets again - typically ones that require you to configure it as you place it.
As for TiBu not being recommended - personally I didn't have a problem with it when moving over to JellyTime. I actually purchased the Pro version just for this and for flashing new JellyTime builds. There are two things to consider when restoring via TiBu: 1) system data; and 2) app and app data.
System data: The main concern here is, when changing to a completely different ROM, do NOT restore any system data (unless you're aware whether it was updated in the new build or just experimenting). Even when you're updating to a new build of the same ROM, you should at least avoid restoring the red-coloured items and just stick to green and yellow items that may contain useful data such as contacts, sms, call logs, saved wifi access points, bookmarks, etc.
App and app data: I personally think it's ok to restore your apps themselves, but you could always record a list of what you had and download them manually again just to be safe - not a big deal unless you have over a hundred apps. When switching ROMs, try to avoid restoring the app's data unless you really wanted/needed it for certain apps - in that case, be conservative with what you choose. I'm not a programmer or developer, so I don't know how this would affect your system/app if switching to a ROM with a different Android version. Restoring app data between builds of the same ROM should be fine, as I've done it between all my JellyTime flashes with no issue even when it updated to Android 4.1.2.
Tip: after flashing the ROM, and doing your typical post-ROM-flash stuff (like fixing permissions, rebooting, wiping cache+dalvik, flashing Gapps, etc), and you've tested it and are happy with its stability, download TiBu again (or if you had the apk stored somewhere after you purchased it, just install it manually), boot to recovery and make a nandroid of the new ROM as it stands: nice and clean before any apps are installed. This way you've got a recovery option without having to go through the hassle of re-flashing the ROM build again, setting it up, etc if all you did was stuff up while experimenting with restoring data on TiBu.
As always, make a nandroid backup before flashing. As I mentioned, if you're initially happy with the ROM, I recommended also doing one after you flash while the system is fresh and clean. Sorry if this post is a bit wordy, but I thought more info would help, as it helped me in the past.

+1 for SMS Backup & Restore; I also used it, but keep in mind AFAIK it doesn't save MMS. I also used Call Logs Backup & Restore, in case you're interested in backing this up too. But since I started using TiBu, I don't need either of these apps any more.
Maybe changing the digitizer could help asd

Also, how to use ART
MikeEx Posted (Couldn't quote or it wouldn't show red on XDA app):
Remove your phone from any case and place in front of a fan where the top front and back receive air flow.
The phone will get extremely hot (80*C+) if left uncooled while ART compiles everything. This could be a total brick hazard.
Having around 200 apps could take well over 10 minutes.
ART will recompile every time you flash a new nightly.

Use CWM, I believe there's an updated version that someone built (it's in the cwm recovery thread towards the last couple pages). Flashify works on LGOG as that's what I used to flash the cwm touch img file. Wifi works on my end. I flashed the 11/30 build and then dirty flashed 12/03 build.
I realize this is probably buggy but is it worth the switch from 10.2 to use as a dd? What if I want to go back? All my backups are TWRP

The phone will get extremely hot (80*C+) if left uncooled while ART compiles everything. This could be a total brick hazard.
Having around 200 apps could take well over 10 minutes.
ART will recompile every time you flash a new nightly.
Wifi works fine for me at home but at work it will not connect.

Basically everything worked for me except video recording and playback. Try recording a video in snapchat and see what happens.
That said, the camera works better than on the other 4.4 ROMs. No autofocus issues and no weird coloration issues, no capture rate issues either.

Still can't connect to my work wifi after a dirty flash. Going to try clean here in a minute. Strange though how I can connect to some routers but not others.... They are both WPA security

Ran the 12/3 build all night last night - dirty flashed up from the latest 10.2 build just for kicks.
Initial boot the OS was just crawling (likely dirty flash issue) - 2nd boot brought everything back to life and been fine since.
Not running ART just yet - need to verify and trim down my 200 app list lol (plus I don't want to lose Xposed just yet)
3G/4G both work great
Wifi worked fine at 3 different locations
GPS worked great
Auto Focus of course works fine
USB Tether works (woot!) and no long kills my phones USB connection when un-tethering (double woot!)
BT worked fine
NFC Works
Audio book played without any audio distortions/glitches (issue in another KK rom)
Google Nav/Maps is still using the wrong voice - an issue I had in the 10.2 build which may have carried over due to dirty flashing. The other KK rom I use uses the correct voice.
Using the PA Gapps Mini-Mod package
Had to reset my battery meter setting since the 10.2 option doesn't exist (yet) in 11 - had me confused for a bit since I had >no< battery meter lol
Aside from having to use CWM, this is pretty dang slick so far.
has the updater been implemented? The one really cool thing I liked about CM
What is ART? Is it optional?

i've never had these issues myself, but i can see why they would arise. i think a warning or piece of advice should be mentioned stating that if someone plans on using ART, they should enable it immediately upon rom installation, before other apps are installed. that way, optimization isn't as tedious of a process

So I'm running into a wall on this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.square_enix.ff7g_bike Updated a week ago to 1.2.0, and prior to that it would run fine (if a bit laggy at times). But since installing the update (required to play) it won't run. I'll tap on the icon, it'll load and show in the background with other running apps, but just won't run proper? I even updated to Android 4.4.4 cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-d2lte, from 4.4.2), used the Triangle Away app to reset things so the phone wouldn't appear to be custom/flashed, and still doesn't work.
I tested the update on a friend's S4 (un-rooted) and haven't had the same issue.
Is my phone (SGH-T999) just too old/no longer supported? The S3 is still on the device list: http://help.finalfantasy7-gbike.com/model but perhaps it wasn't updated.
So the last update to 1.4.0 at the end of April took care of the problem, which was great.
However..... they've updated to 1.5.0 today, and I'm experiencing the same exact problem I had prior to that update.
I don't know what to do, if there's anything that CAN be done.
Help, please.
Probably because you are using an aftermarket rom. Only thing I can suggest is to use a TouchWiz rom, or update cm. That zip is extremely old. Try the latest nightly. In case you didn't know, cm12 is available for the s3 under d2tmo in case you want to try it
It's possible.... so far unrooted/stock-rom devices are fine. However my friend let me root their S4 and that didn't cause an issue.
As for updating CM, I'll give that a try. I hadn't checked since March (and CM updater didn't give me any indications of a newer version oddly).
*edit* Ok I used TWRP 2.8.6.0 and updated to cm-12.1-20150614-NIGHTLY-d2tmo (along with gapps-5.1-2015-04-20-15-56-24), during the "Android is upgrading" screen (after a very long time on the CM splash) the phone rebooted.... currently back on CM splash screen... will edit in more details once beyond that screen.
*edit2* Past the CM splash, on "Android is starting".... optimizing apps 3 of 108.... and again with reboot.
*edit3* Again at "Android is starting" now optimizing app 198 of 199.... *fingers crossed*
*edit4* Finishing boot.... ok looks like I need to use a newer gapps... ok, updated to gapps-5.1-2015-06-02-15-19...
*edit5* Well everything appears to be working.... though the G-Bike game still won't load once updated to 1.5.0... it does at least switch to the horizontal position and the screen goes dark longer before returning to the homescreen... but that's about it. :crying::crying: Switching to TouchWiz may have no change either, correct?
*edit6* I've always used the default messaging app, but when I opened it it's seemingly stuck on "loading conversations", I read elsewhere that it may take a very long time to load if you have a lot of texts... which I guess given that one contact has 4,000+ texts saved in that thread, perhaps it's just a matter of time before all previous texts load?
A rooted rom shouldn't affect it. I mean aftermarket like cm or aosp. It could work fine on TouchWiz, especially since it's listed as a supported device. Yes, texts may take long time to load if you have many
Texts finally did load. I'm about to install CM on the S4, to see if the game no longer loads then. If that's the case, then I'll switch to TW on my S3 and hope that the game works afterwards.
Unfortunately I'm under a bit of some time constraint, the 1.5.0 update was for an event to gain a new support character, and that ends in exactly 1hr....
Given the time-frame, is there a "quick & easy" method to flash a TW rom without having to do various app data backups/nandroid backup (I will have to factory wipe, yes?), and not lose much/any data? I unfortunately don't have a high capacity SD Card (4GB, my 64GB one in the S3 stopped allowing write access a few days ago, seems to be an issue with that particular card), and 4GB isn't nearly enough to backup everything from the S3 to SD.
*edit* Well well..... 1.5.0 will not run on the CM rom on the S4!
You can back up to your internal memory. As long as you factory reset with custom recovery, you won't lose anything stored on it, except apps and settings
Great! One further question, is there any possibility that by switching ROMs, the game might think I'm on a different phone/new user (and if so, is there a way to fix this?)? Despite all the un/re-installs, I've never lost my progress most likely due to it being saved on their servers... but I'd hate to appear as a new user and lose month's worth of progress.
Yeah there's always that possibility. That's why you should always back up your apps with data so you can restore it in case
Thanks again. I wish I knew exactly what was being changed from version to version, that makes the game not work on an aftermarket rom. If it never worked from the beginning, that'd be one thing... but it's a yes/no/no/yes/no type of deal here. Shame I can't just take what works in the 1.4.0 version and compile it into the 1.5.0 ver... Or figure out what it's checking, and make it think it's a stock rom instead.
Hello! Pretty new in XDA forum and I have a couple of questions and concerns. I was browsing through some threads and I was wondering if I could get some opinion/help from other members.
I have a second phone that I want to mod and I need some help.
Device: Samsung Galaxy S4 (ROOTED)
Model#: SGH-M919
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband: M919UVUFNK2
It's an old phone and lately, it's been running really slow and if possible, I'd like to make it run as if it was brand new or at least somewhat close. So the question is, are there any recommended stable roms/mods I could use and if there are/is, will I be able to use it with my rooted phone or do I have to completely factory reset it before I apply the mods/roms?
Thank you!
Hi @Mr.LinK,
Just yesterday I finally got sick of my M919 slow/battery drain/old stuff and decided it was time for a reset. I was running SlimKat from over a year ago and while it was a great ROM, I had accumulated so much crap that it was getting really bogged down. This just happens over time no matter what OS, no fault to Slim. But I was also looking to move to Lollipop. Here's what I did:
1. Backed up using several methodologies (full backup with TWRP just in case, then from Android I backed stuff up with Helium, and used Backup My Mobile for SMS/MMS etc., an EFS backup just in case, etc..)
2. From within Android, did a factory reset. This sent the phone into recovery, and it formatted the data partition.
3. Rebooted to recovery again, and used TWRP to manually format the media section, just in case something was left there. Then wiped everything except the external SD.
4. Used ODIN to flash the OH3 firmware onto my MDL M919, without letting reboot after (unchecked the reboot checkbox). Pulled battery, rebooted back into download mode again, and flashed OH3 a second time... this gets around some instance people have reported about incomplete upgrades of firmware and all sorts of issues... better safe than sorry.
5. Let phone boot into now 100 % stock OH3 Android 4.4.4. YEEEUKKK. Some part of me thought I would just root the thing and get rid of Samsung crapware, but just the sheer annoyance of the T-Mobile boot animation was enough to remind me why I left stock long ago. Anyway, I let it boot, and set it up minimally with just 1 Google account, not restoring from backup. To my surprise it found the ATT network (I'm an ATT user, not T-Mobile... I just prefer T-Mo phones because they have unlocked bootloaders) and APN no problem no effort from me. Usually I have to enter an APN.
6. I tested the phone out to make sure all systems were working. GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, etc.. To my surprise, first time I ran the camera app, it applied a firmware patch. Sweet. I'm glad I went through this step. Coming from ancient MDL, I figured there might be some kinks like this. I let it sit on stock for a few hours while I did stuff with my kids.
7. Back home, I did a factory reset from within Android. Then I flashed the latest TWRP tar file (2.8.7.0) using ODIN, and in TWRP did a full wipe of everything again.
8. At this point I flashed Danvdh's GPE edition of Lollipop from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539361
Installation went smoothly. It's a very basic set of apps that it comes with (Google play is there, but you have to download email/messaging apps from the store such as Gmail and Messaging, Maps, etc). I like this approach!
I've been gradually setting things back up, and am very happy with things so far. Haven't run into any problems yet. The nice pure GPE android experience is refreshing.
@Frankenscript Thanks for the information. I was reading the linked thread and it looks really good so I'll give it a try

I just completely flashed my phone with the ROM and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. No bloatware feels so nice. I've been tinkering with it for a while now and I haven't encountered any problems so far but I did notice that model number changed to GT-I9505G. I'm assuming that's normal since the rom is based off of another variant which makes sense, correct me if I'm wrong. Will this complicate future updates or other rom installation? If so, are there any ways of reverting back to the original model number?

I'm pretty sure we can change the reported model number by modifying the build.prop file. I just haven't poked around with it yet... I did ask the question in the thread and am waiting for a reply. I haven't had to do this kind of thing for over a year, and I forget the build.prop key that does it. But I had some concern that it might bork something else down the road so I decided to wait a bit. IT's just a cosmetic thing and I'm SOOO enjoying the experience right now.
Two little things I'm still fishing around for answers to:
-In the drop down quick access menu, I wish there was a sound/vibrate/mute toggle. I can make one with PowerToggles but maybe there's a way to adjust what's in the native one.
-Really silly, but the power off button when pressed just seems to ... power off the phone!? No option for restart / recovery. Maybe there's an option to set this somewhere; haven't checked.
Still, these are all minor things to sort out. Really, I think I'm very sold on GPE editions now thanks to Danvdh's work.

Just an update, my phone just rebooted twice in the last 5 mins or so. Was watching on my netflix and it randomly rebooted. Any idea what's causing it and how to prevent it from happening?

Haven't seen random reboots. I think I got maybe one reboot since installing the ROM. Then again, I haven't put NF on the phone. I do know that Netflix app had some issues on my Shield tablet, and the manufacturer (Nvidia) came out with a patch... maybe it's something general in Lollipop?

Hi, im using CM13, moved from stock rom kitkat 4.4 few months ago. After that time of using cm13 im kinda tired of how unstable it is, on the same time i dont want to go back to stock rom, which seemed to be fat and had a lot of issues as well (bugged front camera for example, sd card issues).
Actually everything worked 'fine' untill last snapshot, that ****ed everything up. Battery is super low (not lasting whole day, at night it drops for ~20%, used to 5% - i callibrated it), phone is randomly restarting and when that happens i cant turn it on, cuz it often stucks on lockscreen (in other word, i cant unlock phone after restart) and need to restart again and again and again (it takes sometimes 30min to make it work). And even before that update it didn't support NFC.
So, here i am, saying 'enough' and looking for best rom for Samsung S4 Mini. Hoping that it will be Android 6 that won't make any conflict with Xposed framework.

You must have had a bad install as I've not heard of anyone else with those sorts of issues. Though it could be an incompatible app or bad/old data etc Z you might want to ry fixing first eg wiping all app data or factory reset or fresh install (backup your files first )

Ok, i will try.
1. What about NFC? Can it be something about bad install? Does it work for you?
2. That thing about battery - im not sure. I saw someone with same issue on reddit.
3. I flashed TWRP via Heimdall Suite, not Odin. Could it be an issue? Do i have to flash it again to maybe fix something? Or having TWRP there, working is enough? Do i have to update recovery to one that came with snapshot? https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=serrano3gxx

1. I see from your link you have the 3g version of the mini, I didn't think that one supports NFC, only the LTE (I9195) has it I think. As NFC needs the right hardware you won't be able to get it. But I don't have the 3g version so I'm not 100% certain if it has support or not.
2. Ii don't think the battery is related to CM13 directly otherwise there would be lots of people with the issue. What is the exact date of the snapshot? There was one that had battery issue but they updated it a few days later is it definitely 20160820 and not the one from a few days before you are running?
Else: If there any app showing high battery usage that doesn't normally? Or is there a problem white a wakelock? You can install an app like Trepn that will show you apps with high cpu usage (even when they are showing in about the usual place in battery stats, my browser recently locked into some sort of loop and was using a high % of cpu occasionally)
3. Always possible but unlikely it's due to Heimdal flash. TWRP should do fine. More likely the wrong Gapps causing instability, you should be on Open Gapps 6 for CM13

1. Yes, it was supported on stock rom, it's gone now. By the way, im not sure if i really have GT-I9190, since there are parts in my device with name of I9195, also it's called I9195 when booting (but i guess that's just recovery). Cyanogenmod doesn't allow mi to install I9195 (ltexx) roms, saying it's 3gxx device. Then again, when it comes to firmware, there is nothing for my country. Seems like I9190 is only for ~south america or something. No problem finding ROM for poland in I9195 tho.
2. I have 20160820 snapshot, updated from previous one - 20160816. That's where things went wrong. On 20160418 everything (besides NFC) was working fine. Since then battery turned into garbage. At the beggining i thought that it was about Pokemon Go, that has big need for battery. Nonetheless, when i stopped playing it turned out that battery is pretty low on that snapshot. I recallibrated it, but that doesn't help. I had an issue, when battery was droping about 40% in a minute or two. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6oc4yyd1f44pfe7/2016-09-01 14.03.36.png?dl=0
3. Should i check 'update recovery along with cm'? I don't know how it will work.
4. And i forgot - everytime i turn on the phone there is notification that system stopped working. Clicking OK or Wait solves the problem (ofc when its not stuck on lockscreen). That probably is leading me to format and install clean system from new snapshot i guess.
5. Btw. Do i need to format something beside Cache, Data and System for a clean install? Im asking, cuz at some point i tried to install stock rom, but it was stuck on booting, so i restore the backup of CM. This time i will probably wipe internal storage, since i installed a lot of apps, there is probably a lot of junk left.
Thx for helping btw c:
edit. I just installed SlimKat for GT-I9195, worked like a charm, NFC was working as well. Now i reinstalled CM13, clean install of 20160820 (3gxx)- we will see how it will work. Still NFC is not working and notifictation 'process system stopped working' is still there.

Turn off your phone. Remove the back cover and then the battery. On the white sticker the model number is printed. If it says GT-I9195, then you have the wrong recovery installed, since you say it says it's a 3gxx device when installing ltexx roms.

Ok, few days into right and stable CM13. It's working ultra nice
Battery is still an issue here (again dropped ~30% in a minute), but i guess at this point its hardware problem. Maybe i screwed it with my powerbank.

Hi, sorry for bringing up this somehow old thread, but I have the exact same battery issue on my wife's serranoltexx.
I just installed CM13 on her phone, and after a reboot battery dropped from 40% to 5%. This happened twice, so no coincidence here.
Have you found where the problem came for ? Was your battery dead or have you found a fix ?
Also, I have seen your post about sview cover, very interesting. Will try it out tonight !
Hi, no worries
No, I didn't find an issue sadly - just like i said before, changing recovery and rom to correct version didn't help. I tried everything at this point, i recalibrated battery like 10 times to be sure, but it still likes to drop madly. For now im just trying to stay above 50%, but (don't take it wrong) im glad im not only one with issue Maybe someone who knows a thing or two about it will be interested in it.
Thanks about S-view. It's really more like noob-geeky-style solution, but it did work for me If you will have any problem, we will try to fix it

Thanks about S-view. It's really more like noob-geeky-style solution, but it did work for me If you will have any problem, we will try to fix it

Thanks for your answer !
If changing ROM and calibrating did not help, then I guess it's a hardware problem. That was my first thought when I saw this drop yesterday and I already told my wife that we'll have to buy a new one. Cheers to Samsung for building phones with replaceable batteries !
Even a geeky workaround for the sview cover might suit her needs. I think she just wants to check the time and her notifications with the cover on, I don't think she even needs to answer calls (she said it never worked for her, a touchscreen sensitivity issue I believe).
If she doesn't like it, I still have the possibility to downgrade her to CM11. It seems that sview worked fine on this release. And I'm sure she won't mind kitkat as she's not as geeky as I can be
I've been using CM13 nightly (latest) for 4 days or so.
Pros:
Battery last much longer, you have many battery profiles which is nice.
External SD can be integrated as Internal (nice that some apps are automatically installed onto SD)
Cons:
Can't find tar file which is backup I made using CWM recovery rom. Looked everywhere!
Icons dissappear from home after every bootup
Can't move sys apps or preinstalled apps to ext sd card. Can't use Link2SD once you configure External SD as internal. Not so flexible.
Overall, big improvement I feel is the battery life which is good, the bad thing is that Internal storage space gets filled up easily, especially because I know the CWM backed up ROM is stored there yet I can't find it. Which sucks big time.

Look in /data/media it should be there somewhere. Need root access though.
I recommend using TWRP instead of CWM.

Yes, but TWRP can't flash CM11 if I'm not mistaken. Old ROM, I know, but it's the latest one with S-View Cover support.
Also yesterday, I tried to restore my stock ROM backup with TWRP but could not get it to work. Stuck on "starting apps" during boot. Wiping Dalvik and cache did not help.

Not nessessary. Please notice, that i moved from CM13 (i9590) to... CM13 (i9595). I had an issue with wrong recovery. I also didn't have any problem on stock rom. If you're still gonna change battery, tell me how it worked for you.
Btw. there is something called hall monitor https://github.com/durka/HallMonitor But still i have no idea how and if it (still) works.
Yes I tried halmonitor on CM13. It worked... kind of.
Basically, it allowed the power button to turn the screen on when the cover is closed. The problem is that CM13 lockscreen is not suitable for the view cover.
Then I saw your solution, which should also work with halmonitor as long as dashclock and the xposed module are supported on CM13.
As for the battery, well I'm not 100% sure.
Battery was bad before CM. I'm quite confident that I flashed the correct recovery (i9195), and the correct ROMs. But it's not my phone, so I'm not familiar with it. I'd say that my problem is hardware, and new batteries (official ones) can be found for 10€, so I'll give them a try and let you know.

€10, they would have to be fake! (or used)
What is the screen on time (battery>screen) you are getting? I bet it's low & that is the reason for your sudden drops, with my old battery (original Samsung) I was lucky to get 3hrs and that had sudden drops, new battery gives me 6hrs SOT.
Can't tell you the sot because it's not my phone, but it sure is very low. And the battery drops from ~50% to 0% in seconds.
10€ seems to be the right price. They are 20€ on samsung's store, but 10€ is on Amazon, sold by Amazon. I never got fake / used items from them.
Anyway, it's worth a try. I can send it back for free if it's not OK.
