Hi everyone.
New to this group.
Just got the Note 4 a few days ago. Wondering if anyone knows if it has the capability for screen to wake up on text message??
I have my phone on my desk at work, but have to have it on silent. Would like the screen to turn on if I get a text but can't figure out how to do this....
Thanks!

Actually other variants do this out of the box (and it cannot be turned off) I'm thinking its a setting somewhere hopefully in the sms apk. I'll root around and see if I can find anything (doubtful) but if other carriers can do it we should be able to get it to our own devices.

Hi, I have noticed that sometimes when I have a notification, the led doesn´t blink at all, and sometimes it does. I have official IMM76I, and I have noticed it mainly with Whatsapp, but it can be because is the only program I use with the phone silenced in my work.
Have you noticed that?

Its not a native feature of ICS 4.0.4...so uhhh why are you reporting it? I really wish Google would've added options for it.

Where are we talking of color option?
I have noticed it even with GTalk and many other apps. Yesterday, I was playing when a notification sounded. Without turning on the screen, I kept watching the phone but the LED never blinked. I turned on the screen and I had a GTalk message.
Nothing else have noticed that problem?
I have had this problem as well on my VZW nexus on AOKP m5 and earlier versions as well. It doesn't happen all of the time, but maybe 10-15% of the time with SMS and at least 90% of the time with gmail.
I can see a gmail come in on the notification light on my Xoom, but nothing happens on my phone, I'll check the phone 5 min later and the email is there but no notification.

You mean there is not the notification icon on the upper bar?
My problem is different, I have the notification icon, but the led doesn´t blink
Notices this as well with various apps. Native as well as 3rd party. Doesn't bother me that much just makes the OS less 'perfect'.

Cool story bro.
Seriously, whats posting it in the XDA forums going to help? We're not Google, we can't fix it.

I ask in XDA to know if anyone else have noticed this, or is a problem with my phone.
Also, I have reported it to Google, here is the link:

Have you tried the light flow app? Maybe it would fix the problem and give you more customization too.

Thanks for the idea, I have not tried the light flow app; but I have asked in another forums and people with than app also have noticed the problem.
Anyway, the objetive is to find the bug and report it to google, so they can fix it in the next update for our Gnex
Anyone else with the problem?
Is the option checked in each program? Those who flash rooms and rebuild everything might forget an app or two that does not have the option on by default.

I've noticed from time to time as well... But the other thing is that even when it does blink, it often shuts off fairly shortly afterwards.
It would be nice if there was options to ensure that it blinks and keeps blinking until you acknowledge it.
Light Flow works perfectly for me. Never had an issue with it not blinking or blinking incorrectly.
I use it as not all the apps I have on my phone have LED light functionality natively, and Light Flow takes care of that.

Yes, because the problem is not always, and the same app can work, and not work sometimes..

May be you have "Smart Alert" feature turned on. Go under settings and then motion. Basically your phone will vibrate to tell you if you have any messages or massed calls waiting for you.
For second thing May be you're taking about Smart Stay. It is under settings, display. It will keep the screen on until you keep looking at it.

Is the Edge Light actually working for anyone? I don't see a light for messages even though I switched back to the stock app from Textra, and the only thing that actually seems to work is the Information Stream, but even that doesn't show my missed notifications.

Is that required for the light? Nothing in the documentation mentions that.
It works for me and I have less than 5 contacts for that..
if you don't have a contact connected to a colored notification, then you wont ever see that color/notification..
Whatever contact is set thy color will be shone. Other it will be white
Does it only work if the phone is face down? Or is it all the time?

Hello guys,
Got my SGS6 Sat and the most recent OTA is installed. I notice and you can see in my screen shot that I have my DND setup correctly, but yet my "favorites or all contacts" if anyone call or text during the hrs it should notify me, it's all on silent mode, but when I turn DND off it rings or vibrate.
I have it setup to DND M-S from 11pm to 5:15am but yet yesterday and today people been texting outside of my hrs specified and yet I don't get notified.
Is anyone having the same issue or have their DND working?

I've reported a similar issue on my Note 4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/disturb-schedule-longer-t3100842). Did you ever find cause or solution?

My solution after working with sprint and samsung was to d/l a 3rd party version in the market called do not disturb and that seems to be working well.

[emoji23] I just installed it, but I'd love to solve the issue so I don't have the redundancy of an app + built-in feature. It was working fine up until last night ?

I would have loved to get mine working without a 3rd party but even when I had samsung connect into my phone they still didn't now what was up, they told me maybe an update would fix it.

Did the DND schedule ever work for you or was it broken only after that update?
It's getting old having to use 3rd party apps for something that should just be working on the phone. Marshmallow upgrade messed up my phone big time.
The app itself might have Settings you can go into to turn off notifications. That's what I did and FINALLY I'm free!
I came from an iPhone and when I got texts and emails my screen would wake to see it on the lock screen.
I am getting these notifications but my screen does not wake. I've even tried apps like Glimpse Notifications and my screen still does not wake.
Any ideas on a setting I am missing? Shouldn't it behave this way without an app? Over on Reddit a couple of T-Mobile users says theirs does it by default. I'm lost.
anyone? 62 views and no one has an idea?
Try going to Settings/Sounds and notifications/Notifications on lockscreen a.nd see if it is enabled. Not sure if this will help or not. Good luck.

Thanks, honestly I think it's a Sprint thing at this point. I've tried everything. Every setting.

Use the textra app. Its better than the stock app and has the setting to wake screen on incoming texts

This works, now I just need a better email solution to do the same. I think Aqua mail will suffice.
