I'm thinking of getting a larger SD card. Can I just transfer all my data to that card install it into my phone and work or do I have to partition the card? How much do I need to partition the card if I have to partition it. I have a 32Gb now and thinking of getting a 64.
Thanks

Nevermind I'm stupid. I forgot to partition my SD cards after I formatted it.
No need to partition it - just copy your data over and pop it in your phone. I use a 128GB card in mine.

What's the make of your SD card? I just bought a 128GB card from ADATA and it's slow as hell! When after recording video, it takes a good 10 seconds to process and deleting pics takes a good 5 to 8 seconds. What are your SD card speeds because I'm returning this card and getting one from another OEM. I was trying to save a few buck but it's not worth it, the SD card is too slow for my liking.

I bought the Samsung EVO:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-128GB-Adapter-MB-MP128DA-AM/dp/B00P3NMVVU/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1421256669&sr=1-1&keywords=samsung+128gb+micro+sd+card
It is about 35MB/s read and 18MB/s write based upon A1 SD Bench. I don't have any lag issues with it with video & picture recording and viewing.

I've used a sandisk 16gig micro sdhc card and a
8gig micro sdhc card
Everytime i copy files above 2gigs, the files above the 2gigs are corrupted...weird symbols, huge file sizes...
I've used both active sync and a usb sd card reader to copy files.
I'm looking for software to partition the card but I'm not finding any and I'm not really good at this kinda thing.
Anyone have a suggestion or reason to why this is happening?
Thanks!
the problem is your card is a fake chinese product there is nothin you can do
Yeah I agree with the first responder. It looks as if you got a hacked card that is really only a 2 GB card. It won't work past the 2 GB limit.

I think it's because the filesystem of the card is FAT and not FAT32 (which should be able to handle files up to 4GB)
i take it this is happening with both cards?
my fiancee had the same problem with an 8GB card,
all i did was format to FAT32 and it seemed to work ok, had no issues since
I bought this card from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-mic...YX8U/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1322469285&sr=8-5
Although I've noticed my write speeds when transferring 700mb-4gb type files only to be 2.32MB/sec. Reviews on amazon show that others are getting 4MB/sec...
no... but i saw this browsing the web... http://www.adorama.com/IDSMICSD32G.html?utm_source=ET&utm_medium=TransactionalEmail&utm_campaign=2point0Product1 its cheaper...and the site has great reviews...
I have the same card and my speed is around 4.2MB s. Have you try testing the speed of your card on a PC?
You can also try to format the card in the PC. I've seen it helped with my other micro sd card for the Motorola Photon.

how should i format it, in FAT32? i formatted it with the phone after i got the card.
i also notice that if i transfer files while in clockwork mod recovery, it'll transfer at 3.5-4MB/sec, but back to only 2.35MB/sec when booted up.
Yeah just format it to fat32. You can also try "sd formatter" program for windows.
Have you tried the Android app "sd card tester" to test the card speed? Do that test first to see if the problem is indeed with the micro sd card.
From my experiences with micro SDHC in the Nook Color, there is no substitute for SanDisk cards. Their class 4 card is faster than everyone else's class 10s.

Just to clarify this fact, as it depends what you use the SD card for.
If you are running an Operating System from the SD card Sandisk have been found to have very fast random read/write speeds, but if you're recording video etc a Class 10 is better. The reason is an OS needs to write and read data from all over the card but recording video writes sequentially.
If you're not running the OS from the card, a higher class of any quality brand card will serve you better. If you are running the OS from the card, like many of us are with our Nook Colors (and lovin it), get a Sandisk Class 4.
Now here's a question for all of you:
What is the MicroSD Card that is included with your phone? I know it's a 16GB, but does yours have a company branded on it, and also what class is your SD card?
The reason I ask this is because I want to know if they switched the SD Card on my phone with a crappy one and took the good one just before I picked it up. The SD card that came with my phone is just a plain generic Class 2 card. CLASS 2!! It doesn't even have where it is made at. I'm thinking, are you serious?!?! The transfer rate is so horrible, averaging only at 1.5MBps. Takes me over 30 minutes to transfer about one 1GB of files.
My friend who got the rezound at least got a Class 4 card, even though it's generic and made in Taiwan. But his transfer rate is averaging at 15MBps.
So I just wanna double check with all of you and make sure we all have the same type of SD card.
p.s. Also, this could be the reason why the phone sometimes perform sluggishly. I have a feeling when it pulls anything from the SD Card, may it be a large app, music or videos etc, it will have to wait to read from it.
OH! could this be the MAIN reason behind the slow response when taking pictures? I read that this phone has a horrible camera speed, but it might be due to the SD Card being slow and can only write at very low speed to the card.
I also noticed the slow performance of the included micro sd card, and I can't even access it from my card reader, but only through the phone's "mass storage" mode. Anyway just ordered a Sandisk class 4 32GB card from amazon...
The default card that came with mine is a Class 4 8GB made by Kingston. It doesn't say Kingston on it, but I have an actual Kingston SD card to compare it to.

If that's the default save spot, then yes, that could possibly be the issue. How big are the pictures?

8GB class 4?? wow that is small in size, although it is a class 4 card. Livid, is it because you are on Bell? Could this be carrier related? Also, how is your camera? Is it having that speed issue in between pictures?

bmxant, I took some pics and at full res, they average at around 1.3-1.5 MB, which is just right there with the speed, giving it a second or 2 delay in storing/saving them onto the sd card.
Sandisk Class4 16gb in mine. Mine was ordered and sent directly from AT&T site...I'm leaning toward them swapping out the card on yours.
If you're only writing at 1.5Mb's, that would definitely cause an extra second of lag. Would be nice if we could see a comparison between the Class 2 SD card vs Class 4.
How much cheaper could they get? It's bad enough the phone has 4GB of internal storage. They should of included either a 32GB Class 2, or 16GB Class 4.
Edit: Just read Namuna's post. Why would they swap out the card?

Alright thanks, I just need some more confirmations and I can visit the store again and confront them with it. I will make them open a fresh box in front of me and check it, unless of course they've swapped all in that store lol!
@aquariuz23: It probably is carrier related. You guys got double on the SD storage and RAM storage versus what we got. I feel a little screwed in that regard, but meh.
For photo taking, it only took one second to snap the picture and store it on the card. The gallery took 5 seconds to read 84 pictures that were stored on the SD card.

That sounds pretty good, what does Antutu say your write speed is?
Topram Class6 16GB here. SD Tools report 18.5MB/sec read and 5.5MB/sec write, which is pretty accurate for C6. (btw, card manufactured in 2009)
This phone I bought used, can't confirm the card is the original.
6.3 MB/s write and 13 MB/s read. It's about average for a Class 4 SD card.
what do u guys use to test the read/writes of the sd card? I wanna do a test on mine as well.

I always used Antutu
Tested with SD Tools
http://www.amazon.com/KOMPUTERBAY-C...&s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1325197909&sr=1-11
Think this is worth it?
I am getting an average of 2.9MB/s Write and 11.1MB/s Read. Seems like a typical class 2 card. Took it a while to run the test too since it's so slow lol.
I got 5.4MB/s write, 15.5MB/s read (Antutu) on the 16GB Class 2 card from my Captivate that I wiped and stuck in the Nitro and gave the one that came with it to my Captivate (running hacksung's ICS). Is the included card that bad?
According to AnTuTu:
3.4 MB/s write
>50 MB/s read
According to SD Tools:
5.7 MB/s write
20 MB read
Nothing like some consistency between utils.

That just crippled my trust in AnTuTu's tests...sorry but there is no microSD card with >50mb/sec read speed, it's impossible.
Hi there,
One of the biggest frustrations for me with my new HTC M8 has been SD cards.
All of my usual cards I use in various devices have all been too slow for Zoe so I invested in a Class 10 32GB. Get the same warning 'To enjoy a better Zoe experience, please use a higher class SD card' or a message very similar.
I've also had a few times when my SD card has become corrupt at various times.
Am I alone in experiencing these problems?

It may be the way the card is formatted.
I always reformat my card FAT32 before putting it into a new device. Once I put it in the new device, I then have the phone reformat it also... then move everything on to the card...
Hi,
I did all the steps you mentioned. Anybody recommend a fast card that dosent bring up the zoe pop up ?
Oh' Thanks for all your help.
I have the same problem with mine, it half corrupted itself today after i opened the camera app, the camera froze and the phone unmounted the sd card, i removed it and put it back in numerous times and it wouldn't read, had to put it into a friends Z1 to get the card back working, but now all the photos are deleted, luckily google backs them up automatically.
How could HTC mess up such an important feature on a flagship phone.
Mine does not have this pop up.
I am using a Sony Micro SD HC with a 10 in a circle (Class ten is that?), i1, 40mb/s, model SR-32UY
I bought it from tesco, 32gb, for about 20 I think, in the UK.
Zoe's record perfectly.
I formatted the card in my phone on Venom Rom.
Hi guys,
I doubt I'm the only one here.
I got my G4 (h812 LMY47D)and im ecstatic about using my micro sd slot (S6 was the main deal breaker paying top dollars for more storage) but now I'm running into issues with my Class 10 micros sd from Lexar, This darn software does not want to mount the thing (tried several format including a full 40 minute format @ fat 32 default allocation).
The G4 detects an SD card but won't mount it. This thing works flawlessly on my old S3 so it has to be software related as using a cheap Kingston 1gb class 4 works fine.
Anyone else running into issues with their sd card?
Thanks for sharing any info or tips.

FIX
Just taught of leaving what got me to sort this out after playing around... Fun times :good:
After tinkering around with another SD card, the LG device formatted it to FAT16.
I've formatted the sd card using http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html under FAT/Primary
It created a 4gb partition and left it the remaining untouch
Popped the SD on the G4 and it finally mounted the partition
Performed an erase via the phone 2x to make sure and the entire 32gb is now accessible.
Hope that helps others having mounting issues.

I have facing same problems with my 64 GB sandisk sd card on new LG G4
can you explain the procedure to make it work
I've been using an AData 128GB for the last month or so with no problems. I turned the phone on yesterday morning and for whatever reason it went straight to my home screen but locked up and took half a minute or so to unlock and then goes to the lack screen, then I also got a SD Card inserted notification, I figured nothing of it and ignored it. The micro sd runs fine on other devices (formatted as ex-fat) but it causes that issue on startup i mentioned above as long as it's in the phone and it also refuses to mount.
I'm using the SanDisk SDSDQUAN-200G-A4A 200GB ULTRA MICROSDXC UHS-I since 2.5 months ago formatted in exfat with 128k clusters which was what it was out of the package and it works fine.

SanDisk is the only one with something larger than 128GB at this point in time and notice it's 200GB instead of 256GB as size usually doubles in capacity, heard the 56GB was used for something else or maybe not usable. I have a new 200GB card in there now. There is a 512GB card coming soon from Microdia as well.
