[Q] Can I downgrade 4.4 to 4.3 through ODEN? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have two phones, one is running MOAR happily on 4.3, the other is bone stock and has been through all OTA updates to reach 4.4. I'd like to root and get MOAR on the OTA device. I do not have time to mess with our phones that much anymore and do not want to deal with troubleshooting two different roms and versions which is why I'm asking if this is possible.
If so, are there any special procedures for downgrading, or can I just pop it into ODEN and go?

DO NOT ODIN 4.3 ON A PHONE THAT ALREADY HAS 4.4. DOWNGRADING FIRMWARE WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE. Simply flash custom recovery with ODIN (I recommend Philz) and flash MOAR.

My ROMs: Wicked X & Wicked S5 Xperience

Even easier than I was about to attempt. Thank you!
If I go this route, will I have MK3 or ND8? From what I read on the dev post MK3 seems preferred, and works well on the other device.

The ROM is MK3, your modem and firmware will still be ND8. The dev actually bricked his phone messing around and bought an S5... which is why the ROM was never updated. I personally prefer ND8.
My ROMs: Wicked X & Wicked S5 Xperience

So maybe the issue is really the 4.3 device which is already rooted. I've downloaded the stock tar for 4.4, if I was to update that through ODIN would I then be able to just follow the footsteps of the currently stock device. Effectively making them both 4.4, ND8 and all that other good stuff.

[Q] Flashing E4GT

I want to flash my phone to something faster and smoother. I have found some roms that I am interested in however I want to make sure I do not brick my phone.
During the tutorial videos, I keep hearing must have ICS modem instead of Jelly Bean. Currently I have the official GB27 (4.1.2) software on my phone. With that said, do I need to flash my phone to ICS? If so, how do i flash my modem? Do i download the modem and flash it via Odin?
I already have Odin Mobile and custom Roms downloaded. I also download a few clockmods as well.
Let me know if i need to download anything else or it is safe to flash my phone with the current software.
The rom I am considering is Wild for the Night...
Thanks for everything.
Yes you will need an ICS modem for that ROM, you can either flash it in recovery or via Odin on your PC. Mobile Odin will not flash modems in this device... And for future reference, ALL questions and help go in the Q&A section. Also make a nandroid backup before flashing anything.

Thank you...so I will download the ICS modem via Odin PC onto my phone. In addition, FL27 is the correct version correct?
Thanks

i still had flash on 4.3 update. i tripped my old note 2, but now have a new handset and sticking with 4.1.2
it's worth is up to you. i like how it looked and performed but won't go back until their is a work around knox.
I installed it on every 4.3 Rom I've used. It has the option to enable plugins.
This is SWARM Rom.

The knox workaround is to use the old bootloader and either flash wifi patch or devil kernel. I'm running Devil kernel and could only be happier with Tweaked 4.3

[Q] Want to install S3Rx 3.0 TouchWiz 4.3 MJB (4-13-14) Full AROMA

Hi!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 i747m android 4.3 with stock rom rooted and I want to install "S3Rx 3.0 TouchWiz 4.3 MJB (4-13-14) Full AROMA" but the thread says that I need to install a bootloader and modem but here is my question, Do I have to install the "Official MK5 bootloaders and modem" that are mentionated in there when In alredy have kitkat? Or I already have them in my phone and I have to ONLY flash the rom like in the past?
After a hard brick of my phone and iI have fixed it, I want to do things in the best way possible, thanks a lot for your help!

I also have an i747m from bell and could not get the ROM to run, even after altering to updater script. In the end, I went with a custom kk ROM.
I think it would not load because I did not have the mjb bootloader. Loading the mjb bootloader could brick your phone.

Thanks a lot! Yes I think is better to use a custom kk rom.
So you couldnĀ“t flash the rom in the way you said?

M919N upgrade to KitKat

I have an unlocked MetroPCS M919N and I have flashed a stock T-Mobile 4.3 tar on the device. It works great, everything is good right down to wifi.
It fails when I try to take ota KitKat update. It gives me message about update available and downloads the update, reboots to install then says it failed and is reverting back. I was rooted with towelroot & supersu the first time. I unrooted, uninstalled SuperSU and towelroot and tried again and it still failed.
What would be my best way to get KitKat on this unit. I don't believe it has been officially released for MetroPCS(919N) but I want the tmobile version anyways.
Flash the NB4 firmware with Odin (I recommend Fenny's fixed firmware). Although I don't recommend cross flashing firmwares, it will work if this is what you want.. You can also flash a t-mobile KitKat ROM without having to flash firmware

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. However I don't actually consider this cross flashing as the hardware is exactly the same for M919N. I tried factory reset and ota update again and still got this...

...so in case anyone is wondering, I decided to try Kies and it worked like a champ. I'm now on fully functional NB4 on my M919N using T-Mobile. Still Knox 0x0, sim unlocked but not yet re-rooted.

Galaxy s3 at&t i747 GPS stopped working

My GPS stopped working in galaxy s3 i747 after updating for 4.3. I am running cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-d2lte. It worked fine on stock 4.1.1.
I tried re-installing modems and boot-loader.
Full wipe and re-install.
Clear dalvic cashe.
Tightening screws.
4.4.4
I747UCUEMJB
gps test app
thoughts?
It stopped after updating to stock 4.3 or 4.3 modem and bootloader?
You'd have to flash back to stock, but try this fix.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
4.3 boot-loader and modem.
All I can suggest is either flash back to stock and test it. If it doesn't work, try DocHoliday77's link.
Can you send a link of a rooted 4.3 stock. I can't go back to 4.1.1 because I am on the lastest bootloader.
I tryed [ROM][5.3.14] .::StockMOD ROM::.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504903
I kept getting status 7 error messages.
I am using philz touch 6.0.4.7 Thoughts? Thanks for everyone on the forum helping me with all of these problems. It is much appreciated.
Weird, status 7 errors can happen with your recovery is out of date. Since you are running the latest CWM, you could try with the latest TWRP.
Sounds crazy, but you are sure you're running 4.3 bootloader and modem?
Here's a thread about returning to stock 4.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722660

You are definitely on the 4.3 bootloader and modem.
I suggest trying either stock or another ROM. If that doesn't work, maybe update your modem and bootloader to 4.4.
I flashed the lastest version of TWRP and put [ROM][5.3.14] .::StockMOD ROM::.: I was able to get the GPS working by following these instructions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211690 I could not get any of the GPS apps to work. This is the only method that work. I then flashed back to cyanogenmod 11 everything is working great!
