Greetings of the New Year to all
I am looking to get a dual sim phone.
preferably with 4G capability as well
I see there are two such models for the LG G3/
so far a bit confused about what i have been reading here so i will pose all my questions
thanks in advance for info
1 - what are the differences in specs of the 857 and 858? (difference processor? different bands?)
2- what countries are these models "officially" designated for
3 - do either or both come with multilanguage LG ROM
if not can more locale open the hidden languages or must a custom ROM be used?
4 - can these models be rooted easily? seems maybe not from what i have read so far.
5 - can the D855 (single SIM G3) rom be crossed onto these phones?
6- do they get FOTA
thanks again

Maybe a bit late
1. 858 = Hong Kong version, 857 = China (no PLAY STORE)
2. same, notice, I just found out, 858 and 857 dual sim version lack Qi wireless charging, no SlimPort support, and the official quick windows case is different.
3. mine 858 got all lang.
4. Haven't yet ROOT, but should be easy, though maybe no custom ROM and kernel etc.
5. Probably not,
6. OTA probably slower than other versions

I've searched and can't find a specific answer on compatibility on ROMs and the different carrier versions of the Fire Phone. It's late so maybe I just picked bad combos in my searches.
1. a. Will it brick an AT&T phone if you install the international ROM (or vice versa)?
b. If it doesn't brick is it effectively turn into an international variant (or vice versa)?
2. Are the CM11/SlimKat ROMs ok to install on any variant (AT&T and/or International)?
3. Are the CM11/SlimKat ROMs ok to install on any size variant (32GB or 64GB)?
I know some phones it's OK and some phones brick when you install other variant ROMs so I just want to confirm before I buy an AT&T version. I also know some ROM's have to re partition the device and I wouldn't want to lose 32GB. I apologize if these have been answered but I can't find them tonight.

I have the exact same question 1, I wouldn't call it "international", just unlocked version I guess
Bump, such easy question should be easy to answer and kind of important

1.a. No.
Source: I installed the UK, US AT&T and US GSM unlocked firmware on my device (T-Mobile netlocked, Germany).
Every Fire Phone works with all variants in general (there are ofc. different pre-installed TTS languages, WiFi channel support differs, etc.)
1.b. As Jose-MXL mentioned, unlocked (as in neutral) describes it a bit better.
The US ''GSM unlocked'' firmware has multi language support, just like the other versions, so you're not stuck with English language.
Again, some WiFi channels won't work, e.g. channel 13 in Germany, because it's based on US standards.
The fimware doesn't affect netlock, ofc. If your device was netlocked before, it will stay locked. If it was unlocked with a code before, it will stay unlocked.
2. Yes, as far as we know.
ggow only mentioned v. 4.6.1 because this was the (latest) tested version at the time. People reported successful installation on 4.6.1, 4.6.3 and 4.6.4 variants.
3. Yes.
Only the system partition is affected when installing SlimKat / CM11 (sorry, just describing it very briefly ^^).
As you know from stock Fire OS, the internal storage and media storage share the remaining storage space, so nothing will change on that partition.
Hello,
Just got a hold of a AT&T Note 5. From what I have read so far, I understand you cannot use a different firmware without bricking the phone. On my version, there is only a handful of languages available, which is very different from the regular Android versions I have encountered. Is there a firmware available for this particular model that have more languages?
Thanks.
How to add Langugage (Russian) ?
Please help me to install Russian langugage to Phone Settings !:плач::плач::плач:

I believe this is an internal debloating process decision since the AT&T phones was only made for use in the United States anyway. It seems as though you are out of luck, since rooting isn't an option, so you may have to buy another rootable Note5 (or phone)
Hi
I just bought a ZenFone2 yesterday. It's a China/India variant
Code:
[B][U]551ML Z00_ADB[/U][/B]
- (4GB RAM + 16 GB Internal + 1.8Ghz CPU).
Because it's a "grey import" there's no manufacturor's warranty with it (unless I fly to China) - so I'm gonna get to modding this. Now I've been doing it for years with my previous HTC One and Galaxy S3..
However, this Asus Zen seems to be "too commonly named"... the variants, the different versions.. many of them ZE551ML - yet specs different. In fact it took me 5 minutes just to find this one I bought on any website at all (cuz usually the 1.8Ghz version is supposed to carry 2GB RAM)..
Anyway- sorry to drift off topic - I need a quick/easy link to the right files to turn this into a WW version with all 4G channels open hopefully.
It's currently on Android 5.0 and baseband 2.something...
I don't really want to experiment too much because it's my first upgrade in 4 yrs...
So ideally - I'd be asking anyone familiar with this specific variant to point me in the right direction..
Bootloader/Root
FW Upgrade
WWE Variant
Kernel
MM/Noug (I'd go with AICP but ZenUI does offer some cool stuff)
Very familiar with adb commands and stuff - I've been modding apps and kernels for a long time. *Not*Coder* though.
TIA

Okay - But this variant has only one Chinese band. I travel a lot (and live in UK) so I'd need EU + North America + India/Bangladesh -
-- Would be able to answer the rest of my question please? -- (the official asus site has only Lollipop in CN variant SKU, WW has Android M but Japan variant is even newer (Dec 2016) - Shall I grab those or....? I need to fully unlock/crack this open as I will be modding into Nougat soon from Cyano/AiCP

as i mentioned earlier none of the firmware will open all the frequencies.
TW version will open band 1,2,3,4,5,8,9,18,19,28
WW version will use 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,20
US version 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,17,20
CN version 1,20 on FDD and 38,39,40,41 on TDD
and you can choose any of above version of firmware. to change the firmware you must get RAW firmware of your desired version and flash it via Fastboot commands. there are other ways to do so like flashing ifwi and boot files then updating via zip.. but raw is the most safe method. as there are lot of chances you may brick your device..

buddy either you are unable to understand or i am not getting it.... being on latest firmware will not change anything in Band configuration. whatever firmware you are on. either it is very first release or the latest one band configuration will be the same. you have choose firmware according to your required Band Config. don't look at latest release. look at your requirement..

-Then you did not understand. Please let me repeat it again.
Your msg quote " choose firmware according to your required Band Config. don't look at latest release. look at your requirement. "
My question in my reply " What bout Japan? - They have the latest (Dec 2016) FW "
=
There was no information about the JP SKU FW
- so if I do not know what bands are availabe in THAT FW, then how will I know if it matches requirement?
Choose FW based on Requirement
Don't look at Release FW, look at your requirement. - That's a paradox BUDDY.
Someone has to look at the Released FW (bands + other features) AND then check if it matches their requirement. YES?
Also (separate question)
isn't it possible to merge the various radio_xx.img from different FWs into one CFW so all are open? I've done it previously for HTC One long time ago. I'm wondering if it is different for this device or OS.

unfortunately i tried to activate different bands but no success till now.. as per concern with JP firmware.. download it and look for active 4G bands in tlv file..... i don't have JP firmware on my PC. and not willing to download too. data is too costly Buddy. so check it yourself
Solved it, it was easier than other phones actually sys/intel has the right files that need merging from different variants.

can you elaborate which additional band you opened on which firmware?
Ok so I really y need your help guys!
I've asked this question a few times in the past about other phones I ended up not keeping, but I'm now intent on making this work.
I'll keep it simple: can I flash a Canadian CSC on a Global phone? Will this brick the phone?
I don't quite fully understand how the CSC relates to everything else, but the times I tried I couldn't get the CSC to change. Plus I'm concerned because I have a dual sim model (which doesn't exist in Canada) that is Exynos, where the Canadian model is a SD.
Through my reading I think it could work but I don't want to have a $1000 paperweight in the end, but I'm have piss-poor reception, Samsung Pay doesn't work, VoLTE doesn't work, I can't block phrases in SMS and the list goes on. I want to try this to see if it helps anything... Failing this I may cut my losses, sell the phone half-price and just get a non-Samsung device; I'm getting so aggravated at this it's not even funny.
Thanks!
PS: if you are wondering why I didn't buy a Canadian phone to start with, let's say it's a complicated answer but can be summed up by the dual SIM cards.
A CSC defines that carrier settings of the phone. As long as you use official Samsung firmware and do it properly it will not brick your phone. Look at sammobile first to see if Canada has a stock firmware. However, doing this will mean all data is lost, are you flashing carrier based firmware or your country's global software?
I just did a search and on the S8 there was no difference between the single sim and dual sim softwares and on GSM arena it classes them as the same. Do you the have snapdragon or exynos version?

I don't mind data loss, I have back ups and really not much on the phone anyway. Canada has stock firmwares for each carrier, so to answer your question, carrier based. But my huge deal here is the different configuration between what is available here and what I have: I surely can't flash the entire firmware based on a canadian phone... I would lose my dual SIM and surely the difference processors would brick the device. But I'm not really sure if I can mix and match, i.e. pick a CSC for my carrier and everything else (PDA), and if I can, what do I chose?!
See where I'm at... because I can't flash the entire firmware I think I'm s.o.l.
I'm afraid the situation isn't that good for you.... I am assuming you have the Exynos varient since I cant see a dual sim version of the snapdragon variation which means no Canadian firmware is available for your device at all. Since I'm in the United Kingdom we usually swap our CSCs with ease but it appears if you didn't buy the snapdragon version your out of luck at least for now. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help you could sell and get the Canadian version but you won't be able to dual sim or get another phone I left from the S6 to oneplus and had a really good exprenice but that was on the 3T so I'm not sure what they are like now
Again sorry I couldn't have been more help:crying:

Hello flashers.
Question here.
I have a US unlocked version G781U1/DS. Is it possible to convert to G781B/DS? The reason for this is European B version has dual sim support, whereas apparently it is disabled on US models. Otherwise why would Samsung put DS into model name for U1 and snap in a dual sim tray?
I think both devices have same hardware specs.
Will it work?
Thanks.
No, it will not.

Why would you want to do this? The U1 version is a multi-CSC firmware and should work as needed in any country. I have not been able to secure a FW set for the S20 FE5G as of yet, but if it was available, it could be confirmed or denied that the specific CSC you need is contained within. Again, I'm rather curious about the issue you're facing to lead you to want to do this. Technically, you should be able to flash any Snapdragon CSC that is built for the same device. That is speculative as ive not confirmed this, but that is how it has been historically from the S8 onward
I have tried all CSC versions available in CSC menu, none of them enables dual sim. Note CSC available are most for US carriers like TMB and ATT. There is XAA (international apparently) available as well but does not enable dual sim either.
