I found a very good program for my Motorola MB525 (Defy) for monitoring the battery draining from the market.
It's name is Batery Monitor Widget and it's free.
With 81% of battery it says only 7 hours and 16 minute left without doing anthing!!! The data is on and Wi-Fi connected to my home network.
Is it normal?? In the night in airplane mode after 9 hours it drain 8%-9% of battery. Again: is it normal???
If you can try this application and report your results...I think there is some application that drain my battery!!
Thanks!
Not really a comparison here, just a little story.
Yesterday i screwed up my Defy playing around with some rom. Nothing terrible, but i had no time to re-flash another rom, i had to go to work. So, i pickep up my old SE xperia x1.
After an entire day, 4-5 calls and several sms, that phone drained less than 10%. Then, last night i put the x1 in stand-by, well, that was a real stand-by, no power consumption at all.
Now i'm back to Defy, 2 hours, 15% drained...
All this just to say android is amazing but terribly hungry of power, even when the screen is off, even when airplane mode is on. I don't need a comparison to know about it
EDIT:
you said your wifi was left on, well android is hungry of data too. Even if you do nothing while wifi is on an amount of data still flows, sometimes i can see several mb downloaded by my Defy in a few hours, but no real usage by me. This also contributes, you should try to turn the wifi off or disable background data when you don't need it.
In standby (3g, sync only calendar and contacts) I have 1-1.5% battery consumption / hour. I think this is normal
With my normal usage i have some 20-40% left at the end of the day... also Ok.
WIFI on & connected will consume a lot of battery so I am not surprised.
BTW I also had an Xperia X1 and the consumption was roughly the same as the Defy... In fact more than 1-2 days on a charge I very rarely had on any of my smartphones with normal usage.

last week I was working in the forest for a few days with no signal at all, so I turned on airplane mode: I remember it going from 45% in the morning to 42% in the late afternoon!
(with everything turned off, just used it occasionally to have an idea of what time it was)

It's ok to be an android fan, i like it too, as i said it is amazing. But, battery life is definitely NOT the strong point. I can compare the two phones now, at this moment. Honestly Defy's battery life is a lot shorter.

what's the other phone you compared?
I really don't have problem with Defy's battery life. As far as my memory serves, all cell phones I ever owned (7~8, all nokia, se, moto) could standby (just standby and don't use at all) for a week or made around 5 hours call. In my case Defy can also standby for a week or allow 5~6 hours usage.
I'm on a 2g network (probably helps alot), as I have wifi at home and at work. I have an exchange email, a gmail, 2 yahoo mails, and a weather app, all allowed to sync at default settings. I don't have facebook or twitter. GPS and bluetooth are enabled only when necessary (occasionally). I overclock Defy to 1000Mhz with SetVsel, and underclock to 300 when screen off. With conscious observation over some time, I find that 1% battery is consumed around every:
- 2 hours standby with wifi off; or
- 1 hour standby with wifi on; or
- 3~5 minutes usage (calls, emails, surfing,...)
thats some amazing battery life u got there abc ...what rom are u using?
hey guys, just a quick question. with which setting do you think i'll have longer battery life: 800MHz/58vsel or 1000MHz/56vsel? btw, i got my phone stable at 800MHz/45vsel

I was using the orange 2.2, and am using the finland 2.2 now. Both have similar battery usage.
But I have uninstalled some stock applications which I don't use but keep running in background, like BlurHome.apk (with Launcherpro), InPocketService.apk, ToggleWidgets.apk (with ExtendedControls), WeatherWidget.apk (with FancyWidget), VSuiteApp.apk etc.

You may be right, I had the Xperia X1 something like 1 year ago.
I had until now FSC T830, HTC Hermes, HTC Diamond, Xperia X1, Samsung i7500 Galaxy (my first Android), Acer Liquid and now the Defy. As far as I remember I always had to charge every night (or every 2 nights at best)
Overall I think Android battery life is worse than Windows mobile was BUT I also have more background programs running now than I had in the WM days.
What I definitely don't like in Android battery life is lack of consistency. One week you get30-40 hours at a charge and suddenly 12 hours... Than you have to make detective work: look what new App might be the guilty one, check what's running in background, reboot and see if it happens again, factory reset, etc. I guess this is the price of freedom
Im on uk 2.2 and i get three days at a push i jus have a weather widget on sync every 3 hours.
Iv also undervolted 300/16 600/29 800/39 with setvsel on performance mode and up threshold on 99% and limit to vsel 1 when screen iz off
Im on three uk so im constonly on 3g and use no wifi etc etc with normal sms usage and a few calls through out off 1 charge

There has to be something wrong in your case. I find that there seems no wifi/2g/3g connection. Could that be the problem?
I dont use 3g ..cuz its expensive in my country ..and I only turn wifi on when I need it
And that shouldnt be the case ...I think id loose a lot more battery if wi-fi would be on all the time
this phone sucks, you will have a huge screen but with automatic lighting seems drawn on cardboard, the reception is crap, my girlfriend with a lg optimus one has 3 notches and I travel to 1 here in the bedroom. And the absolute most ridiculous thing is the battery, are practically forced to go out with this and the galaxy's, fortunately, not yet sold, it takes at least 2 refills daily. Congratulations on a useless post.
If that's the only battery life you're getting then you should really look at how you have your device set up. I easily get 12-15 hours on heavy use and more than 24 hours on light use (moderate use is somewhere in between). I use auto brightness, and keep bluetooth, gps, and wifi turned on all the time. I have facebook syncing and push email going and I have no battery issues at all. I suggest you take a look at your device configuration and also you may need to calibrate your battery.

Nowhere in what I posted did I say that. Try reading with understanding next time. What I said was I have everything turned on and I still get good battery life, so if yours is lacking perhaps you should take a look at how your device is configured. That a bit clearer for you?....
OP, your post has made my day today!
However battery life depends on how your device usage is. People with carefully set usage patterns can extract the most. For e.g. I use Locale to set a certain profile at night that switches off wifi, data usage, etc. That is one way to maximise battery life.
Edited your title to be proper.

Okay let me further clarify myself. When I say look at how your device is configured I mean look at what you have running. Do you have things syncing frequently in the background? Do you have apps installed that constantly wake the device? How many background apps are you running at once. I don't have any special configuration on my device. I have everything turned on as far as bluetooth, wifi, and gps. I use push email, facebook set to sync every 4 hours, weather set to sync every 6 hours, google reader set to "download frequently viewed feeds every hour", currents set to sync every 6 hours in the background (wifi only). With those settings my battery life is pretty good. When I'm not using my phone is drains between 2-2.5% battery per hour, that should give you a bit of a point of reference for what you should be getting when idle. Here's an app here I stumbled across that can show you what's waking your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 Hope this helps you out.
Battery is pretty good to me, under normal usage easily over 24hours.
I have had no problems with my battery or screen, not sure where your setup went wrong but listen to the posters before me and less ranting and maybe you'll make the best out of an awesome device
My battery is great! Better than any other smart phone iv used, signal is great swell and the screen is awesome

I see in your screenshot the GPS and the screen were on for most of that time.
And by "on" I mean the GPS was really on with a fix, not just "on standby" and ready to be automatically activated when a program requests it.
No phone I have ever owned has ever got more than about 4 hours from the battery when I have been using the GPS. The simple fact of the matter is the battery will discharge very quickly when using GPS. That's not a fault of the Nexus, that's just how it is.
Bad battery?
That screenshot shows you've been absolutely caning the **** out of your phone. Nothing will have a good battery life with usage like that.

I'm on the ViperOne ROM and what would you recommend to save battery life? (Whether it be apps, a battery saver, etc.) I'm getting on average about 8-10 hours. I feel like it should be much more than that but who knows I'm probably wrong and that's the norm lol.

8-10 hours from 100% to 0%? It seems very low. There are people that can squeeze as much screen on time out of our M8. Maybe try an app like GSAM Battery Monitor or BetterBatteryStats to see if you have any wakelocks or any rogue apps that suck your battery.
You could also try Greenify which hibernates apps that are not active to conserve battery.
But my opinion is to reflash your ROM with full wipe and no tweaks or apps installed, run it for 2-3 days and check if you see a difference.
Using stock ROM and managing to get about 13 to 14 hours with 6 to 7 hours of on-screen time, depends on my usage which is light to moderate. Don't know if that's good enough though... however I'm satisfied with these stats. I know that I can achieve better though.
Performed all textbook instructions on how to increase battery life, switch off location services or put it on battery saving mode, increase your sync intervals or switch that off too.
I disabled 4G and got a lot better battery times from that only. 3G speeds are fine for me and im usually near a wifi network anyways.
And you can always enable 4G for those rare occasions where you need really high internet speeds and there's no wifi network nearby.
I come from an Xperia T. Got almost 1,5hours of screen-on time. Now this phone, it is madness. As student that uses his phone a lot, with 3/4G, wifi,... I am still impressed. On a normal day I can get 2 full day's with like 3hours of screen on time a day. For someone looking for good battery life, I think this may be one of if not the best phone to get!
I'm losing about 8.3% battery life an hour according to the GSam app. There doesn't seem to be anything out the ordinary either.

To be fairly honest, I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary here, apart for your wakelocks and since you've been doing a lot of gaming, I presume they are pushes from your games?
Also your percentage per hour is fairly decent if not good and 6 hours of on screen time is decent as well.
What you could try to do is disable push notifications from your apps as well as reduce your sync intervals for your social media applications.
If nothing helps, I would suggest a reset but that's only if nothing's changed over the coming days.
Keep us posted on how your battery is holding up bud.

Thank you so much for looking it over. I'll take a look at them and see if there's a way to turn them off and if it helps.
I'm running PA with Furnace and yesterday I got over 7 hrs SOT using Wifi. I was on reddit, playing games, videos, etc.. For me, coming from a Gnex that is awesome and I couldn't be any happier.
I use Greenify and the clear recents option. Kernel settings are stock besides Eco Mode, Max to 1728000 and Vibration Strength to 1300.
Putting governor on conservative also helps a lot, but your phone will be a bit slower, but not unusably slow though. According to GSAM my average is 19H40M of which 7H40M is SoT. I always have my phone on conservative, pretty much always on WiFi but when I'm not it's on 4G, auto brightness, always on power save mode, auto sync enabled, location on but on power save mode.
I also use greenify which helps a lot too ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify )

Not sure if this was a question or statement.. If your not rooted, root it immediately, then remove whatever bloat you have. I would also greenify everything, and that should give you much better battery life. I went from stock rooted barely getting 3 hours, to almost 6 hours after I rooted.
Try out lux for your screen auto dimming and juice defender or green power to help out.
Battery is comparable with Note 3 if you managed to disable sync when not in use. Mine can usually last one day without changing battery.

Itchy. Tasty.
I just had to, sorry.
I wouldn't say battery life sucks but it is definitely not what I expected. It lasts me all day without boosting, but I can't go without charging overnight, unlike my OPO. I charge my OPO every other day. The G3 must be charged every night. Not a big deal, because I am used to charging my phone every night while I sleep. But considering the G3 and OPO are essentially the same phone except for the 1440p display, that shows what the G3 battery life could have been if LG had gone with 1080p.
Battery sucks doesn't really present much of a platform for helping you. I get all day usage from my phone on a single charge over night, that's all I ask from a phone. Screen time will vary from just shy of 4hrs to my best of 6hrs. I have 2 email that sync, web browsing, bt all day with my gear, calling and texting with minimal gps usage and turn on and off gps and Wi-Fi as I need.
Post some screen shots and let us know your usage habits, are you stock or have you rooted, what apps you use frequently and what you are doing to conserve battery life. With that information perhaps we could help out some. I will also second greenify. It does help.
Hey everybody, as my first forum I just purchased a Nexus 5x. I came from an iPhone 6s, and I'm monitoring my SOT. my battery has gone through 3 cycles or so and it's always dying at 2 hours or so of screen time. Can never get over 3 hours. Is this normal? I purchased it used, so is the battery damaged? Or will properly charging it for some tine bring my batteries health back up and make it last longer?
Im currently at 11%, and I have 2 hrs 17 minutes of SOT of normal usage no games, noyoutube, just social networking and photos . I FEEL like its too low. What do you guys think?
