Hi XDA users.
I've recently bought a new lg, the internatinal version. Now, I have the SEA firmware. I got an update from the LG PC Suite for version V20B. I wonder if I should update my device, since it's a new one and I still have my warranty.
Also, I am not at home most of the time, and I cant go fixing it during most of the week, so is it safe? are there any memory leaks like some people reported?
Thanks in advance.

Updating stock official LG Firmware through OTA or LG PC Suite does NOT void your warranty, only rooting does but you can get warranty back by unrooting. If you plan to root it then you shouldn't upgrade yet because right now it G3 can't be rooted when it's running stock LG Lollipop. If you don't care about rooting then you should definitely update with LG PC Suite, it's safe, it's fast, it's very good. My G3 was like a new phone. I would strongly suggest doing an factory reset after flashing for maximum smooth experience.

I just upgraded my D855 SEA version from v10k to v20b. All good, but then LG PC Suite wanted to upgrade again to v20b-L, but this time it went thru the upgrade and ended in a bootloop. I had to factory reset to fix it, and now its back on KitKat...
Just going thru the upgrade again now to lollipop....

Thx for the answer, though that my warranty isn't the ordinary one, my phone is from a private store and I don't quite sure about their policy, I would check it.

Thx for the answer, do you have any memory leaks? is it possible to restore back to kitkat without losing my warranty? and does it work for you now? should i factory reset it before updating?

Too early for memory leaks - that was specific to the Nexus 5 anyway i think.
Dunno about warranty stuff. To my knowledge using PC Suite is covered by warranty.
Lollipop works ok now. Took ages though to upgrade. From my terrible experience, i'd probably recommend a factory reset first, but you shouldnt have to.

And, are you suggesting me to upgrade? Is it much better? What improvements should I see in terms of speed and battery?
Thanks in advance.
LG PC SUITE error "unable to continue analysis of environment"
Hi All Happy New Year
I also have SEA version LG G3, saw the new prompt via PC Suite to upgrade to 20b, however came across the following error message "unable to continue analysis of environment". Would appreciate if anyone can help point out any potential problem?
Thank you

Try upgrading with LG Flash Tool 2014.
Use this guide and links, make sure you download the right firmware and If you have 32GB phone make sure you DON'T try to flash the 16GB Firmware.

Last week, LG G3 notified me of software upgrade, I was running 10i at that time. So I went ahead and upgraded. I was expecting to get 10L but somehow it upgraded from 10i to 10J. So now I am running V10J-SEA-XX. I am not able to get OTA update as it shows that I am running the latest version which is not true. It shows last update on 24th Oct 2014. I am in India, phone was purchased from Dubai.
In hope to get 10L, I installed the LG Mobile Software Tool and to my pleasant surprise, it showed me an upgrade. I started the upgrade process, it download 1136.13MBytes of upgrade and started upgrading my phone. It failed in first attempt and it prompted me to remove battery, restart and press retry button which I did.
On Second attempt, everything went smooth, phone was rebooted in the firmware download mode, I could see 0-100% progress and the entire upgrade completed as expected.
However, when phone was restarted, I see that I am still on the same software, V10J-SEA-XX. It even shows last update on 24th Oct 2014 ( OTA date). I restarted LG Mobile Software Tool and it again shown the update available. When I choose to upgarde, it again downloaded the same 1136.13MBytes file. This time upgrade process completed in first time itself. Unfortunately, I am still on the same version.
Any help will be appreciated.

Well, I saw a few threads, not sure the one you suggested but that solution is possibly applicable if the device was not recognized. Here I could see the progress on both LG tool and mobile so both are communicating fine. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway, changed the port to COM41 and trying again.
Update: Repeated the entire procedure with COM41. This solution doesn't work. I am still on the same V10J-SEA-XX.
.

Thanks
Same Problem
Hi there sorry I can't help but I have the same problem.
Live in the UK but purchased an SEA version. Didn't realise it would cause me such an issue.
Unfortunately, I don't want to root my phone as it will possibly disable my Barclays Bank Mobile Banking app which is pretty useful to me.
My only hope is that LG will upgrade the SEA version to L when it does all the other regions as well.

I am fine with rooting if that solves an issue. Any lead?
I just received an OTA update but it only updated to v10K, strangely no v10L yet.
contacted lg
Someone asked lg uae this question and what they have said is that the v10j or which ever one youve got for the region of ur phone is the same as the other regions' v10L or v10n and it isnt more advanced than ur version of v10...

Hi guys i'm new to all this soo here is what i did.
I recently rooted my lg g3 V10l-EUR-XX and now i want to unroot it ... but the problem is that i found only the kdz file without the dll file ...
Can you please help me find it or if it's possible to downgrade it from v10l ? Sorry if i said something strange or impossible but i'm a complete newbie with the roots and stuff
If you download the LG PC Suite and click on "Restore Upgrade errors" it should reflash the current version, but i'm not sure as it might download the latest which is lollipop.
You could also flash your KDZ file using the LG Flash Tool. Without the need for a DLL file.

Because i have been reading a lot of post this week and everything messed up. That's why i didn't see that the LG Flash Tool doesn't require .dll file. I just brought my LG to stock and everything is fine ... Thank you for ''enlighting'' me ! :good:
In fact i have one more question ... probably a silly one but still. When the LG was still rooted i got an update for v20e i think but i didn't install it because i assumed that it will be bad and it will ''brick'' my phone ... and now when it's stock i don't have that update. What should i do or it is just a matter of time the update to show up ?

Since you device in now unrooted there will be no problem in updating. The update may show up some time, but you can always flash it if you want to.
NOTE: Lollipop CAN NOT be rooted.

Thank you for all the help guys ... Some things are clearer to me now :good:
Hi everyone! I need some help or guidance here. I think I may know why this is happening but not sure . I'll explain in detail below:
Anyway, so the long awaited Lollipop was apparently released on April 7th for the T-Mobile LG G3. I've been waiting for it for a while just as many other probably have been. Well, none of the updates ever showed up on my phone via OTA or the LGMobile Support Tool.
The only thing I can think of as to why this MIGHT be happening to me (unless nobody else has been able to update yet because T-Mobile delayed the update) is because my IMEI has been reflashed to a Galaxy Note 2. However, I'm not sure that a different IMEI on my phone would prevent it from being updated since the firmware is obviously still a D851 LG firmware...
My phone is NOT rooted. It's all stock by the way.
Anyway, I guess what I need to know is:
1) Has everyone else with the T-Mobile Lg G3 been able to successfully update to Lollipop yet?
2) Will the different IMEI on my phone affect whether or not my phone is detectable as a D851 G3?
Thanks everyone in advance!
Bump. Anybody?
I'm really not sure that IMEI have any effect on the update center , have you tried to do a factory reset ?
another thing I can think of is just root your device and install a stable fast stock rom that uses LP on it ( like cloudy ).

Yeah I'm not sure it does either. I talked to a friend of mine that works at T-Mobile and he said a mismatched IMEI shouldn't make a difference. However, worst case scenario I'll have to manually flash it to Lollipo once the official ROM has been uploaded somewhere on the internet. I haven't tried to do a factory reset. Not positive on this but I think the IMEI is stored in memory that won't change whether it's factory reset or not especially since the original one was wiped and replaced.
I'll try to stick to the stock ROMs on this phone to avoid any issues with the custom stuff. Although, I was never able to successfully tether via WiFi on this phone. It works via USB cable. Still annoying hehe.

Thanks for the link. I don't think the OP has the D851 Lollipo version uploaded. I only saw it for D855. I guess I'll just wait until everyone else gets the official update and flash it manually. From what it sounds like people have been having issues minor issues with Lollipop anyway. Maybe that's why T-Mobile is delaying the OTA updates. Who knows
Hello,
I have a friend who brought me a LG G4 VS986LD (verizon) from the united states. The problem is that it still runs under android 5.01 and I'd like to upgrade it to android 6.0. When I use the application LG G4 VS986 SOFTWARE UPDATE informs me that an update is available. Is there a risk that by making this update the phone no longer recognizes the mobile networks in Cameroon where I live. Knowing that this phone is initially reserved for the US market.
Thank you
I think the risk is very small and even if it happens, you can always downgrade again back to Marshmallow, so I don't think you have anything to lose there, just try it out.

No, you need to download a kdz of the old version and use LGUP to flash it.
I'm running my vs986 on 6.0 in Ukraine. No problem with cellular network

I was wondering if I changed the firmware with another one, would I get the automatic updates via ota?

I also had tim and when I switched to no brand I stopped receiving ota and also lg bridge no longer updates my phone. I now use LGUP every time there is an update and do a manual upgrade. The lg bridge update log says the phone fails an imei test so I believe there's no other way to update for me and probably for you too.

If it was pure open stock, it shouldn't show that "222-01" thing in software info. It should be "EUR-XX". And I can't make it that way. I'm wondering if anybody achieved it.
Same issue..received a Tim branded G7 so installed GBR open firmware from LG fan now all good no branding just no OTA UPDATES..Anyone know of a fix for this save flashing every new update.?
Any help/information much appreciated....
I’m going to try and flash the Italy open rom if there is one...see if that makes any difference..
What is the Italy code? Is it ITC?
So i flashed a few open firmwares..ITC and GBR open latest ones and earleir releases and none would OTA update only flashing back to origanal TIM firmware did it update OTA.
So its put up with branding etc and get all ota updates or flash a EU open firmware and keep doing this with every update.

No, only with hands through lgup
So is there any way for users to istall an open F.W so you don’t have network branding or bloatware
And still receive the OTA updates?and security patches
I know it don’t really make a massive difference but the branding and boot screen really winds me up for some reason..
I could send device back as I purchased in the uk thinking it would be a uk phone but it’s Italian..still says LG-G710EM so I guess it’s the Euro variant..

Any that’s an open for your regional area...
Be aware if you do this you will no longer receive OTA updates.
I'm asking because i'm fresh in this topic (and generally in android) and i prefer to ask before i do something wrong.
Yes, i know that i will no longer receive OTA updates what is quite logic, but manual update via LGup isn't a big problem for me. Just less convenience.
So, for Poland, firmware G710EM10q_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1219.kdz should be okay, yes? and one more question, the process of updating via LGup looks like normal firmware updating (keeping the configuration and data) or like clean firmware flashing?

Yes that’s an okay firmware for Poland and yes LGUP wipes and gives clean install each time I’ve used it..there maybe a way to upgrade once you have initial new firmware as you don’t want issues so clean install is best to start then investigate upgrade for next time.
When should 9.0 roll out? the G8 already released with it...
