I have the international version of the Note 4. I'm trying to root it but I can't go into download mode. When I try the Vol Down + Power + Home button combo it brings me to a Factory mode with Chinese text that I don't know how to read. I can boot into recovery mode just fine though.
Is there some weird way to do it on the international version of the Note 4 to bring it to download mode?

Hi, I accidentally installed the wrong rom on my phone. Now it won't boot. And i've tried the method where you hold the volume buttons and then the power button, and then use the odin recovery method to get back to stock android. But it doesn't work because I can't get into download mode by holding the volume and power buttons.
WHAT DO I DO? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
You are not the first person I have seen do this so my suggestion would be to do a little searching and find out what others have done. I am new to the Tmobile variant of this phone but I had the Epic Touch which is the Galaxy 2 on Sprint and I got into download mode with a Jig. <--- you can buy one on ebay they are real cheap
I believe they also work for this phone. Or from what I hear most just go through insurance...

That's not how you get into download mode though. Holding volume down and volume up then pressing power button will get you to recovery.
Download mode is, with phone completely off. Hold volume up and down buttons then plug the phone into your USB. I'd try that. Wouldn't see why download mode isn't available from flashing a ROM in recovery. Download mode usually goes away by flashing something stupid in ODIN. Good luck!

that should deff work...if you need help just ask...ill help you...i bricked my phone like 5 times... (soft bricked)...androids are hard to brick...but what you did MIGHT be a hard brick...but download mode and odin should help...also...not to be a smartass...but you said you did it by accident...but you had to put the file on ur sd card...and then go into cwm...and then actually pick the file twice in order for it to flash...
Hello everyone! My Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 won't turn on anymore. I tried charging it, that wasn't the issue. I left it on the charger and nothing changed. I plugged it into my PC and it didn't make any noises and it doesn't even recognize it as an unrecognizable device. Is there any button combo to see if it's 100% fried or not?
A couple of weeks ago I rooted it and updated it to another ROM, but it had been working PERFECTLY since then! WEEKS!
Any suggestions?
power button
Press and hold the power button for 30 - 40 seconds and see if it powers up. I had this problem yesterday.

This did not work
Hold the power button down for 2 minutes and don't let go, also hold vol up while doing it to see if you can get into recovery.
keep it plugged into the charger while you do this.

OK, this worked. How can I unroot and restore the OEM bootloader and everything?
Before flashing I made a TWRP Backup, as well as a Flashify-backup.
I have these two folders on my desktop.

to restore everything you will need to boot into download mode , if you are in download mode now you can use kies or odin to flash the stock firmware and this will correct everything.
to boot to download mode its either (Power + vol down) , or (power + vol up) , try both until you see it say download mode., or if you are currently in twrp you can select reboot->download mode
you can get th stock firmware here

(Cellular south) XAR is USA wifi model.

yeah it will be like when you first bought it.
btw when using Odin3 put the firmware under the AP box, don't mess with any options.
First and foremost, yes I have searched the threads to fix my problems and can't seem to find any. It may be a hardware problem but then again it may not be.
The phone keeps entering download mode "A custom rom may cause critical issues... ect..." I tried pressing Vol. Up and Vol. Down but it doesn't work.
I've held down the power button, it shuts off but then goes back to download mode
I've held Vol. Up + Power when bootinng up the phone to get to CWM but it's stuck on the logo. Samsung S4
I am using a custom rom, 7.1.2 Nougat AOKP CWM does not work
I've tried getting to Download Mode using Fastboot but the device is not recognized.
Any help or should I just see if its hardware?
The Issue Has Been Fixed:
Note: Vol. Up and Down were not working to get to download mode but it was not an hardware issue its the phone itself, CWM/Twrp maybe.
A trick to get it into download mode, the downloading target. (Was stuck on Custom Os can cause critical damage....))( Note: i didn't make it.

When you say "download mode", are you referring the mode that is used for flashing a stock rom with Odin?

Yes I am referring to flashing a stock rom, using Odin. (Pressing Vol. up or Vol. Down does not work)
With the phone in download, you can't flash a stock ROM with Odin?
Hello,
I have a locked Samsung Galaxy A5 SM-A520F.
In order to unlock it, I have to downgrade the firmware from A520FXXU2BQIE to A520FXXU2AQF5 using Odin.
The only problem is that I cannot get into Download mode.
They key combination Vol Down + Home + Power will just boot the phone normally
They Vol Down key works fine when the phone is on.
It's really frustrating. Does anybody have any idea to overcome this problem?

You should be able to do it with the hardware keys and I'm not sure why that's not working but have you tried rebooting into Download Mode via ADB? The command to do it is "adb reboot download". Don't start an actual adb shell, just run the command from your PC. It should work without root access.
same issue, phone turned off automatically cant go into download mode no button combination helped.

That sucks to hear man. But are you sure that's the right combination to get into the bootloader?
I'm on the tmobile version note 10+ and you have to shut the phone off and press and hold the Bixby button and the volume up button. Not sure if it's the same for other regions though.

phone plugged into pc.. press vol down and side key until screen goes off.. quickly press vol up vol down and side key until dl mode comes up, basically when screen goes off hold down all buttons until dl mode comes up..
if u end up trying to hold vol down and side key what happens is if its taking a while u end up doing a hard reset and device will seem to not be doing anything bcuz u keep resetting it. at least this is how i get to dl mode in these type situations.
