Is there a way to flash the stock firmware without the fastboot cable? I've shredded 3 micro-usb cables and none of them have 5 pins, only 4. Can I replace the cyanogen rom with a stock Amazon?
Thanks!

Grab yourself a Samsung USB cable, they have the pins, I've just stripped one to make a fastboot cable there's different part numbers on the Samsung cables but they look the same and the non stripped one should be exactly the same inside too.
Here's a couple of pics of mine for you to reference against, the micro ends are next to there corresponding full size plugs

I have been using my OTG cable for a couple of months now. I normally use it to connect my s3 to my usb speakers which worked flawlessly. One day I was listening to music using my usb speakers and suddenly it stops working. Ever since then, whenever I plug my OTG cable to any usb device, nothing happens. Any ideas on what may have happened and how may I resolve this issue?

First thing I would do is to try a different OTG usb cable or usb extension cable , or try the existing usb cable with a different phone.
The phone does not need to be the same make or model.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I've tried 2 different OTG cables with no luck. It's gotta be the phone because I plugged in my brother's Note II and audio was working fine with the usb speakers. Any other ideas?
Anybody else have this issue?
Anyone?
Well since it doesn't seem to be the cable, what I would do is do a full wipe and reflash ROM or do a restore with Odin

Sorry to I forgot to mention that I've tried Odin back to stock, Full wipe and reflashed a rom. Still does not work. It will not detect any usb device.

You can also try this:
Get a contact enhancing agent like Deoxit! or Cramolin and put a tiny dab on the contacts of the cable and insert and remove the cable in the USB socket. DO NOT FLOOD THE CONNECTOR! a tiny amount works better. On the Cramolin label says the less you use the better it works... that should help you get it working. Sometimes pocket lint gets in that connector and makes it hard to get working. A can of "canned Air" would not hurt using it in the contact area of both the plug and socket. It'd also help getting the fluids into the plug before reinserting into the socket.
Good luck
P.S.
you can get the stuff from ebay, and cramolin frrom ebay... Cramolin is or at least was cheaper, but I think Deoxit! works better.

Uninstall all the Samsung USB Drivers and Uninstall KIES if you have that installed then reboot the computer.
Then Install the newest Samsung USB drivers which can be found here: http://androidfilehost.com/?fid=22962010882834451
Be sure that the phone is unplugged from the computer when installing the new Samsung USB drivers.
After the new usb drivers are installed try the ODIN flash again.
It should work.

I just had this happen with my otg cable... was working just the other day, but now it no longer works in a nexus 10, nexus 7 (2013), GS3 or GS4. Any idea what could cause that?
If it doesn't work on any device, bad cable. Probably needs replacement.

Hi guys,
I have a strange issues with this mhl cable. When I connect this cable with my note 10.1 2014 ", my note shutdown or restart., why? Something wrong with my note or cable?
Gonna need more information
Which exact MHL adapter?
Which version of the Note? P600? P601/2? P605/7?
Are you running a stock firmware? Which version?
Rooted?
Custom ROM?
Any or all of those could have something to do with it.

Everything is stock, and Never rooted. My note shutdown or restart immediately after connect mhl cable. Btw is working fine with my s4 rooted and custom rom.
I would try:
- Safe Mode
- Reflashing the stock firmware for your device
- a different MHL cable
- that same cable on a different Samsung tablet, if possible.

How to enter safe mode? This cable is working fine on s4.
I have a Nexus 5X (LGH791 MODEL) which is having issues charging or connecting to a computer. It will charge slowly but will not connect to any computer that I try. Every time I get a USB error "USB Device Not Recognized. Device Descriptor Request Failed".
Is there any way to revert back to stock using the google factory images (or some other means) WITHOUT having to connect to a computer and use fastboot?
The device is currently rooted, has TWRP installed, and has the July 5 OTA update installed (was able to flash that part using Flashfire).
Thanks for any help, and apologies if I failed to explain any parts clearly!
With Flashfire you can flash factory images. For slow charging try another cable. Cheap cables do not fast charge some times.

I tried flashing the factory image with Flashfire but it only updated the system partition. It seemed to error when it tried to flash stock recovery. Also, it's not recommended to flash the modem or bootloader partitions using Flashfire. Even the app itself says not to do it.
Also, i have tried 4 different cables/outlet power supplies. The phone says it's charging rapidly, but i'm only showing about 260mah charging speed when checking it with an app like Ampere.

I flashed the latest OTA using Flashfire and selecting full flash including recovery, and it still did not wipe out TWRP... i have no clue why it's doing this... :/
Before you flash anything, make sure your USB connector is free of compacted lint. I had the same problem with my N5X a few months ago, it would charge, but not rapidly, and it wouldn't recognize that it was connected to a computer. The problem turned out to be pocket lint that had become compacted at the bottom of the USB port, it was preventing the USB connector from making full contact with the USB cable. Take something non-conductive with a sharp point (the toothpick from a swiss army knife works) and gently dig around a bit in the bottom of the USB connector well.
Been there and checked that unfortunately. I even went so far as to take it to a repair shop and they replaced the USB c port completely. Still won't charge fast nor connect to my PC :/
Like title says my pixel 2 XL usb port is going bad / is bad. It's only charging and giving the device has malfunctioned error. I want to simply know since I'm rooted how can re-flash stock recovery? unrooting won't be an issue because of magisk but I need to flash stock recovery since I can't do it via USB.
It appears TWRP is functioning normally , adb sideload or other functions won't work.
Fastboot is not working (waiting for device)
anything that requires the use of usb besides charging is not working.
Any tips on how I can flash stock recovery since I have root with a flashing app maybe from playstore?

Fastboot also is not working. I have 3 tried different computers.
Is there anyway to do it without USB? since phone only charges on USB but that's it nothing else.
Added screenie to OP
When I had Galaxy Note 4 I remember using Flashify to flash stuff. Would that work if I chose the stock boot img from June factory images?
I had same situation with USB C but already exchange it under warranty. Try this: sign up android P beta user if you are not beta user, or opt out if you are already. Reboot phone, Google will take care of the system reinstall WITHOUT any cable connection/PC. Good luck!

That's a good TIP I didn't think of it. Thank you. Did you have exactly same error like me? I already have a replacement order in my email (for advanced shipment) do they send you brand new device?
Yes, I had same error, plus not able to hear sound thru USB C port. I get refurbished device. It looks brand new just without charger and cable.
Had the exact same problem with mine, and I'm waiting after my refurbished (ewww) unit. The Pixel 2 really seems to have a low-quality USB-C port or controller: many many owners complaining about that problem on different Android boards.
What annoys me the most is they're sending me a phone that was produced in the same period my faulty one was and that probably has the same USB-C port/controller revision...

Same issue with my USB c port. It seems pressed in and does not click correctly. Happend tonight.
Ugh will call Google tomorrow for an RMA
Hey, I downloaded the firmware for my note10+ and patched it with magisk after I unlocked my bootloader. I started flashing it but the flashing progress is stuck on system.img. It has been for like 30mins now. What do I do??? People online suhggested to try different cables etc. Im using the cable that came with the phone, usbc to usbc and the other end is hooked up to my thunderbolt port, it has been working fine. If I disconnect the cable, wont the device brick? What do I do? Help pls!
Happen same to me, avoid the thunderbolt port. Use a proper USB C port or normal USB port. Never use it with thunderbolt port even though the cable fits. Reboot into download mode again and retry odin flash.
