[Q] What phone do I have?! - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok, so I am trying to figure out what version of the Galaxy S3 I actually own. This was listed as a refurbished I9300 International Unlocked S3 from Amazon.
Upon boot it shows GT-I9300
The sticker on the back of the phone show GT-I9300
Listing phone specs through an app shows - 1.5GB RAM and dual core processor
The ROM information shows GT-I9300 / custom when trying to flash any new roms(the flashes always fail)
When the phone is put into download mode it shows SGH-I747
I am attempting to flash a new custom rom but it fails no matter if I choose I747 or I9300 versions. Cannot for the life of me figure out what this phone actually is to see if I need to attempt flashing new firmware. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i believe the playstore has an app called android info. it might give some insight , or it might tell you the same. but maybe worth a try.(?).

The phone info app will show you the model number for your bootloader. The bootloader model number is correct. I have had a similar problem with my S3. I had to open it with a screwdriver. And the model number on the motherboard matched the bootloader model number.

If you have a terminal emulator installed on the phone you can bet the bootloader version by entering this command:
Code:
getprop ro.bootloader

Is there a difference between model number and Product name(Download Mode)?

My Mobile network has decided to stop working, and while repairing my S3 by trying to flash back to a stock firmware ive noticed that on download mode it says next to the product name:SCH-I535.....But when go to check on my baseband (which is displaying Unknown) under "about device" I noticed that the model number says SGH-T999. have a tmobile sim card but SCH-I535 is a Verizon model. So my question is which one is correct Model number:SGH-T999 or Product name: SCH-I1535??
You may want to try checking in the Verizon forum HERE.

[Q] I747 or T999L?

I have lost my imei and was going to load original firmware, but my phone has confliciting information. The label under the battery with the imei says T999L but the about device settings say I747. Which do I use?
What is the model number in download mode?
How did you lose the imei?
I flashed a rom based on the sticker sayng it was a T999L. In download mode it says I747. I will try to odin a I747 rom on to it. My nv_data files have completely disappeared off of this phone.
Do not use Odin to flash anything until you confirm the bootloader on your phone. The bootloader version may help you identify the actual motherboard in your phone.
Flashing the wrong ROM in Odin can hard brick the phone.
The bootloader says I747. Any suggestions on how to get the nv_ files without having the previous files?

What version is the bootloader? Knowing that the bootloader is an i747 is not enough information.

excuse for butting in @audit13 , isnt the motherboard fairly easy to get to and see version number? or am i way way off. (no longer have my S3 to check).

You would have to remove the battery and use a small phillips screwdriver to remove the back frame. Above the sim card holder is the model # of the phone. Mine is stamped "SGH-i747" even though I know I have an i747m.

Please help me solve mystery of this phone.

Hello,
I'm having a big problem with my phone at the moment.
I tried to flash custom ROM, but something somewhere went terribly wrong.
I did read some guides on flashing before attempting this and did make some precutions as well.
Such as creating ROM backup with CWM and copying efs folder with Root browser.
Unfortunately I didn't succeed with the flash. Now the phone can turn on, but there is no network service, and IMEI number is missing.
I tried to go back to my backed up ROM, but that didn't fix the problem.
I also noticed that on the back cover of the phone I have T-Mobile written on, but the phone itself has AT&T branding, such as AT&T boot logo and some AT&T apps. In most places the model number is SGH-I747 which is AT&T variant of the phone indeed.
But When I entered download mode via volume down + home button + power button, the model number presented there was T999 which is model code for T-mobile version of the phone.
Is there something that can be done at this point?
EDIT:
I read on the forums that there is chance to restore firmware of the phone with KIES, so I tried that. At first I entered SGH-I747 model number and serial number of the phone and it failed. But after that I entered SGH-T999 model number and serial number of the phone and KIES started to update the phone.
It seems that I had a SGH-T999 which somehow was tricked int thinking that it is SGH-I747.
At the moment I have android V4.3
Model SGH-T999
Bootloader T999UVUENC2
Baseband T999UVUENC2
PDA version T999UVUENC2
CSC version T999MBENC2
Phone seems to be unrooted, IMEI number is visible, I can call again, text again, use wi-fi and even mobile data. But the phone's factory mode is on.
Could you please suggest how to best proceed, if I would like the latest android version available for this phone, without any T-mobile applications?

Hmmm i think your model is e250k.
If you have international variant, then it will only show GT-N7100 whatever apps you use.
I think so too but everyone told me e250k have antenna and Im 100% sure mine is not

Error Code: Secure boot 1002 - What should I do? Please help

Dear XDA community
I recently bought a LG G4 from an online retailer. According to their website they said it was a UK model, which according to the back of the phone beneath the battery it is: LGH815. But then after booting the phone the ROM being used was: LGH815T. Then I typed in the IMEI number and found out it was a: Verizon US model??
Basically I am having trouble identifying my model. The phone apparently came unlocked and rooted, but the person who sent it must have done something wrong because when I flashed a TWRP recovery image to the phone it comes up saying: secure boot error code: 1002.
The good thing is, is that I can boot into the device and still operate it as per usual. But what I want to do is bring the recovery back to normal. I was searching around and apparently there are some KDZ files that can be used just to flash the recovery? Is this correct? If so could you assist me in what I have to do to fix my issue which is: secure boot error 1002.
I would really appreciate any help regarding the matter. :crying:
Tried posting photos, but forum would not let me, all they showed was the model numbers.

Use LGUP-NEW ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803 ) to install/flash ... the appropriate stock KDZ for your specific model once you ascertain it (LGUP - NEW may recognize your model and you can use that info to find the right KDZ). You will have to re-root the phone if you still wish to have root.
If you do root, suggest you might want to check out steadfasterX's [LOCKED][G4][TWRP][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP-in-FIsH for all locked G4 devices at: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/locked-twrpinfish-locked-g4-devices-t3573048
It has been tested on locked devices AND unlocked devices. Version 3 Beta 4 and 5 seem very stable and the links are available in the later posts on the site. It works like a charm and has been tested on a quite a number of devices now.
Addendum: I'm wondering if the online retailer may have meant it was carrier unlocked (i.e., so you could use other service provider's sim cards), not bootloader unlocked? That could account for the secure boot error getting TWRP to load.
