As the title suggests
I've just bought an OUYA and I stupidly updated it to the latest firmware and now that I want to root the thing it appears from a significant amount of "googling" that this is not currently possible.
Can anyone confirm if im stuck or if this is still possible to do could someone please point me in the direction of a guide?
I've tried installing RootMyOuya.1.1.apk and it refuses to install
thanks
Find "towelroot-v2.apk" not v3 or later. still working! I tried today.

Ur the best man!! Will play around with this after ive finished installing xp on my laptop, you think it might work better?
I can't remember what site it was but last night I came across a post about people trying to root the ouya with newest firmware. It took a little time( install time) but it was pretty easy. First download and install the android SDK( it takes awhile but I couldn't find the ouya ABD interface drivers anywhere else) and then download and install kingo. It rooted my ouya no problem. And that you need the exposed installed. Don't get the latest version. The newest is ***********v32.zip I think. You want v29.zip and of course you'll need ps4ouya.zip as well. If you use the v32.zip the play store won't work. I think that should help a lot of people. I know this isn't the clearest explanation but I don't clams to be an expert lol

If you updated your phone, you need to flash (with flashtool) a previous version of stock GB in order to root your phone

If I just want to remove or move to SD card some of system apps like the Bruce Lee game, do I need to root or unlock the bootloader or both? I'm not looking for Custom ROMs just free up some memory.

After a few frustrating days of searching I found this website http://www.unlockroot.com/index.htm which I just ran and it worked great! I am now a proud owner of a rooted SE XPlay. This program only took about 5 minutes to root my phone and give me superuser (still not sure what that is).
At any rate, you download the program, install it, follow the directions and then run it. It's that simple.
You can find some good info here on apps that you can remove. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046699

but im happy with what i got already, still might look into rooting it for all the other perks though

Fpse does not require a rooted phone (unless Im reading what you mean wrong then disregard)
Easiest way to root your phone running ANY firmware is to unlock your bootloader and flash Superuser in CWM and your all set.

Well I tried unlocking the bootloader and not sure why but wasn't able to. I used the program that I linked to above which was a simple as installing the program, running it, connecting my phone, clicking the ROOT button and within a few seconds my phone rebooted and was rooted with superuser installed. After that I installed Titanium Backup Pro and went to town.
TOO EASY! :good:
Heck I rooted 4 phones with that program within about 10 minutes.

Root finally achieved on CAT B15Q.
I tried all the simple methods, none worked.
I used PDAnet USB drivers.
To achieve root, I made a recovery using the CWM method with SP Flash Tool V5.1408.00 following this guide
chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-Tutorial-Ultimate-no-root-backup-CWM-MT6582-MT6592-MT6589-MT6589T-MT6577-MT6595
Recovery was patched using MTK Droid tools. However, SP Flash Tool V5 would not flash the phone with the patched Recovery and Boot files, so for that I used SP Flash Tool V3.1332.0sn187. Then root using MTK Droid tools - Superuser (SuperSU failed). Also useful was this guide
chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-Tutorial-How-to-build-CWM-and-root-Bedove-X21-MTK6577-and-other-MTK-phones
Note: When plugging phone in for flashing (this is done with the phone OFF), put battery in, plug cable into phone, hold volume down button when you plug the USB cable into the computer.
Checking with a root checker, it told me I did not have full root access, even though Superuser appeared to be working, I only had temporary root.
I then used Root Genius, which finally achieved full root.
A bit of messing around, but worth it.
Install busybox.

Yes, a detailed tutorial how to successful rooting a Cat B15Q would be greatly appreciated.

Root is persistent (still rooted after multiple reboots) and controlled by KingUser app that you will get preinstalled after running thar chinese apk. How much is it safe or not I have absolutely no clue nor guarantee. For me it works without any problems (so far).

SGH-M919 CF Auto Root (Odin issue)
First and foremost thank you Chainfire for providing the resource to root my phone. What I am trying to do is use auto root to root my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 running on Kit Kat 4.4.4 build # KTU84P.M919UVFNH7 which I found the applicable Autoroot download for.
However when I connect the phone to ODIN the device name does not show up what shows up is "ID:0/003>" Is this an issue with the phone settings or the computer settings? I am using a HP Pavilion Slimline 4000 Windows 8 using classic shell. Would greatly appreciate some help. Thank you in advance
Google Services (Google Play Store, Google Games, etc.) stopped working
My Google Services stopped working when I rooted my M919 using this method. But it works after I unroot it. When I enter the Google Play Store when my device is rooted, it displays "Server Error" and I can't do anything. This only happens when I root my phone. I have tried clearing the cache and data from Google Play Store, Google Services, Download Manager, and Google Framework but they didn't solve the problem. Please help if you had a similar situation and managed to solve it.
It appears that this thread is useless.

Ok, so since you have clockwork recovery there is a few extra ways for you to actually root the tablet.
1.) You can find a flashable root .zip for samsung galaxy tab 3 4.4.2 (model number) however, I failed to find this on google or bing so you may have some troubles.
2.) Use odin. You have google so just search how to do i
3.) Use this different link. It may help. Teaches you how to root the tablet.

Hm. I think I see the problem. Did you use that stock rom one or did you flash a root? Either way you most likely flashed/odin the wrong OS/root for your tablet. Try again but make sure you use your right tablet. Or can you actually tell me what you did because I do not know what you did to fix it.
Hi everyone!
moving forward from my beloved HTC Desire Z that worked so well since few month ago, now i got an awesome LG G3 - D855 with stock Lollipop 5.0 [BUILD: LRX21R.A1421650137]
So, it takes just 2 weeks to make me say "This is f***ing annoying, damn! I need my device to be rooted!" and make me look for some root method for this phone.
Now, i saw different ways to do that, and i'm trying to figure out which one is the best compromise between complexity/time that it takes/safety, and which one can be used with the different versions of android.
Here it is what i found:
1 - LG One-Click Root
2 - LG Root Script
3 - PurpleDrake
4 - StumpRoot or StumpRoot on XDA
5 - TowelRoot
6 - Bump
Well, I'm not a newbye on rooting devices ( as I said, i come from an HTC with HBoot and so on.. ), but i'm more confident if i can understand what a script does instead of simply doing a procedure blindfolded..
Can someone quickly tell me some infos, or give me some directions please?
As always, thanks in advance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/tool-dp-root-tool-to-root-lg-devices-t3075007 Go with this one. Then flashify some recoveryand flash on!
Thanks (again) ymcc, i will look into this!
Well, i'm close to root my phone finally.. I just have a question about the version of twrp i should use: I got "twrp-2.8.7.0_d855-bumped.zip", but i don't know if the root method that ymcc told me "bumps" my phone.. can someone please help me whit this?
Just to recap, i need to:
1 - get all the files/apps/software i need
2 - enable usb debugging and run "V2+DP+ROOT"
3 - Install some SuperSU app ( any advice is welcome )
4 - Install and run flashify to flash "twrp-2.8.7.0_d855-bumped.zip"
Is this ok, or i should go for something else with AutoRec or so?
I also see there's a way to install twrp with the playstore app, is it working too?
I feel sorry and newbye with all this, but i'm confused by so many tools and methods posted almost everywhere.. one says just for kitkat, one says all os versions, one says just bumped phones, one says to do not use this but use that.. damn i'm screwed!

That's fine. Get DP Root Tool. Connect your device with enabled USB debugging to computer with installed LG drivers. Click to root.
Get SuperSU app by Chainfire. You can get it on Google Play.
Flash the mentioned TWRP and you are done.
For the TWRP from the Play Store, that's only the app that manages the recovery(for scheduling tasks if you wish...). It's not needed. You need to flash the recovery you mentioned with flashify or manually with adb if you prefer.
many many tnx
I'm coming from the Samsung ACE 2 community and I will also get my LG tomorrow. At the moment I'm a little bit confused because this device section is so big, there are so many root versions, kernels, roms etc..... compared to the ACE2 section.
Of course I will install a custom rom on my phone. (BlissPop at the beginning)
So is it ok, if I'm doing this in this order?
1)rooting with "DP Root Lg"
2)install SuperSU from Play Store
3)install Flashify from PlayStore
4)flash the recovery image
5)reboot to recovery
6)backup efs
7)wipe, install new rom, gapps etc....
But I just saw this: . Is this relevant for me?

The steps you metioned will work. About the DP Root I'm not sure if it will auto flash SuperSU app but it doesn't really matter, you will check that after you run it.
As for the bump, it's the way of signing the image(boot, recovery) so the LG bootloader is able to boot it without tripping the security errors. The recovery image you will flash (twrp-2.8.7.0_d855-bumped.zip, mentioned by the guy above) is as it says bumped.

I'm coming from the Samsung ACE 2 community and I will also get my LG tomorrow. At the moment I'm a little bit confused because this device section is so big, there are so many root versions, kernels, roms etc..... compared to the ACE2 section.
Of course I will install a custom rom on my phone. (BlissPop at the beginning)
So is it ok, if I'm doing this in this order?
1)rooting with "DP Root Lg"
2)install SuperSU from Play Store
3)install Flashify from PlayStore
4)flash the recovery image
5)reboot to recovery
6)backup efs
7)wipe, install new rom, gapps etc....
But I just saw this: . Is this relevant for me?
Greetings Samuel

For the next person reading this thread:
Instaling TWRP with flashify didn't worked. It gave me an red and blue blinking LED when I wanted to enter recovery. Instead I used this, because they say its for firmware version 20h and I had this version.
