Lags in games - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed that some games have several lags and I want to know if it's possible changing setting (cpu, gpu, etc, I don't know how work this setting and for what) avoid these lags. I have installed thunderom, skyhigh kernel and synapse control. Thanks

Change the multicore settings to agressive (the next page of cpu frequency), cpu hysteresis to 15,change I/O to noop or zen, change the cpu voltages for 3 circles, in the GPU settings max mHz change to 667. In the next page scroll down and change
117 =800 mHz
266= 900mHz
350= 1100 mHz
420=1300mhz
480=1600mhz
533=1700 mHz
600=1800mhz
667=1900mhz.
In antutu it scored me 51k with zen

[Q]CPU Settings

Hey guys, what CPU settings do you use? And which one would be best for smooth performance?
Min 120 MHz
Max 806 MHz
Smartass noop
(no-frills CPU control)
Smartass2 covernor.
Minimum: 122 Mhz, but I use 200 Mhz
Maximum: 806 MHz, but on some devices, when browsing for example, your phone can hang.
(Nothing works = kernel panic). You then need to lower it. I use 768 Mhz.
For benchmarking, use performance governor. Your CPU will then keep on highest frequency
Hope it helped
Smartass2:
Min 245mhz when sleep mode
Max 806mhz
Mine WS freeze on any frequency above 600 mhz.

Yes these are my preferred settings too.

[Q] Max/Min Settings for SetCpu?

I have DoomKernal installed. I have the max set to 1.5Ghz, but what should I set the minimum to?
also, any suggestions on governor?
Usually you can just set the minimum frequency to the minimum allowed. Personally, I like the SmartA**v2 governor
Looks like my phone doesn't like 2Ghz, it crashed.
My settings are Max 1.5 Ghz Min 122 Mhz, Governor: On Demand.
Works pretty fine and saves a lot battery.
For ondemand, did you set anything in the advanced settings? Sampling rate and stuff.

[Q] oveclock wfs rom- cm 7

can i ask 1 help how to overclock wfs rom is cm7........i go to cpu settings there
1)available governors
2)min cpu frequency
3)max cpu frequency
4)set on boot
------------------------------------------------------
in available governors
1)lagfree
2)lulzactive
3)lazy
4)braziliznwax
5)smartassv2
6)smartass
7)minmax
8)scary
9)smoothass
10)savagedzen
11)interactivex
12)conservati
13)ondemand
14)userspace
15)powersave
16)lionheart
17)performance
in this which 1 i have o chosse for fast my gameplay
and if make my max cpu to 806 it lags and contiusoly restarts....if i keep it to 787 its bit lagging .....min cpu frequency i hv kept is 200....which is the best frequency ??????
As governor smartass2 is often prefered.
Some phones do not work with maximum voltage and 804 MHz. You will have to reduce it till your phone is stable.
overclocking MAY damage your device. so be careful.
sorry for this old thread but, i have updated the last cm7 and now i can see more cpu states on setcpu such as 825,844 and 864..i overclocked for using these clocks but cpuspy says that these states are "unused"? Interestingly, setcpu says current state is 864 but not cpuspy? is that a bug?
Nice one, unearthing a thread from february ^^
Even if you select a high frequency, your phone might not be able to handle it.

CPU - GPU Relationship

Hello!
I have a question regarding CPU and GPU relation while overclocking/undervolting.
I am using XM-Kernel #241 - love it.
The thing is GPU is at 520MHz default and if I set CPU at 1500MHz it will run like this:
CPU 1500MHz
GPU 520MHz
So what happens if I set the CPU down for instance to 1200MHz. Will GPU still stick to 520MHz or not?
Because when I underclock the CPU, the GPU performance drops too (benchmarks results).
So whats the thing about it?
What about undervolting?
XM-kernel #241 has an option to seperately undervolt GPU. Does that mean that while undervolting CPU - GPU voltage is intact? And when we seperately undervolt GPU - CPU voltage is intact?
I always thought that if you undervolted CPU, GPU voltage changed aswell.
Thank you for anwers in advance

[Q] GT-i9195 SET CPU your settings?

Ok so I am experimenting with Set CPU app
Can you guys tell me what Profiles you run or prefer
Thanks

I don't use SetCPU (way over complicated for no good reason) but Kernel Tweaker. With my experience on the F4k kernel:
JB - Interactive
KK - Smartass V2
IO Scheduler: normal phone use ROW. If you have some regular write operation, CFQ. I've tried SIO, ZEN and NOOP, overrated. While NOOP and ZEN feels really responsive (like mininium lag) but it unstable. As for SIO I don't see what people see in it. It not particularly faster, and nor battery friendly. At least that what I saw on my S3 with Pegasus governor. And I don't use benchmark, this is a pure observe from normal day-to-day use on open app, multi-tasking, browsing, etc. I've tried all mention governor for at least a week.
As for UV, I've done -1.5V (yes, not a typo) on my phone. Again, I don't bench or play games, just regular day-to-day email, browsing, photo, etc.
I'm on JB 4.2.2 Stock and using SmartAssV2 + ROW. Max freq. on 2.05Ghz. Working fine so far.
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686845 for undervolting results part (I'm guessing it's in your SET CPU too).

I'm using f4ction kernel 1.3.0 with 90hardlimit_2.05Ghz.zip flashed after the kernel with TWRP.
Also, i like CPU Control, which is very easy to use.
I don't need set cpu anymore. I turn on air plane mode at night so battery life can be longer.
And checked on cpu's cores, system automaticly control frequences.
Using SetCPU the Charging with USB takes ages
Do I need to set a profile as I have tried other apps to change stuff but this seems to be the only option for me with a modified Stock Rom
Have used these settings so far with no lags or issues .. can someone pease clarify if this is ok...
SET SCREEN OFF
CPU - 810 - 384 Gov: Interactive / Priority 100
SCREEN ON
CPU - 1566 -384 Gov : OnDemand / Deadline / Priority 52
BATTERY <45
CPU - 1026 - 394 Gov: OnDemand / CFQ / Priority 50
SLEEP 00:45 - 08.25
CPU - 584 - 384 Gov: Powersave / CFQ / Priority 49
What about Battery or CPU Temp?

Powersave governor is a governor that locks on the lowest possible speed provide by the kernel. No point on setting a speed range since it doesn't dynamically switch between them.
Well as I mention above, I don't recommend using schedule beside ROW or CFQ. If anyone still thinks SIO, NOOP, Deadline is significantly faster/better than CFQ this is a very interesting test: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux_iosched_2012
