So basically I've lost the C from the back of my HTC. The T came off as well but I stuck it back on. Anyway I could replace it?

Try sending it back to HTC for repair?
Duck tap and some spit should get the job done.

don't see the problem, its a hardware defect and it doesn't matter how big the issue is. from a failing volume button to a cosmetic letter falling off. Warranty = warranty and should support any kind of problem.....including a simple letter falling off.

Spending most likely several weeks without your phone so they can glue a letter on teh back seems like overkill to me, but hey, if you're THAT principled.

its not about principles and its not about me, its about personal preference. if the OP chooses that road then let him. he's in his rights. who are we to judge that ?
but i see all of this will get out of hand soon i guess..... time for me to stop posting again.

SOrry if you took that as an attack, I meant if ONE is that principled, not specifically you. Warrantying something like that seems purely something one would do on principle.

well i don't really agree, its cosmetic and small i agree there. is the phone damaged so it doesn't do its job.....no also not the issue. but a person can expect, seeing the high cost of the device that it would be flawless. of course bad things can happen but getting it fixed under warranty should not be a problem.
in fact when the user wants to re sell the device its worth more with all the letters complete. not talking about the letter itself now exactly but seeing the device in a 100% completeness is much better for the seller in the end, and when he/she can do that under warranty it might help the seller in the end to drag a bit more money out of the deal.
hope i made my point clear in a nice way as intended.
same thing happen to me..
I just pealed off "h" and "t" and cleaned off the glue.. now it looks as slick as ever xD
I decided to just leave it as it is. I can't be bothered with sending it back just for a letter lol. Really the only reason it bothers me is in case I want to sell it, but that won't be for a while yet!
I'll wait and see what happens.
Pick off the other letters, then colour the spaces in with a permanent marker or a little bit of nail polish.. I doubt anyone is going to look close enough to notice (or if they do.. I'm sure 99% of people aren't going to care, as long as you aren't trying to palm it off as being new..)

Just got up, and didn't realise that My beloved Desire was on the floor, stood on it with my heel and it broke!! Literally just now!
It has a clockworkmod and it is rooted with NeoPhyTe 5.0.
Is there any way of unrooting without using the screen?!
When I turn it on it has lots of little green dots and sometimes lines... so is it possible?! please answer quick!!
Turn it on, wait for it to 'boot up' and then run the RUU your ROM came with...be it Vodafone or WWE
If that doesn't work cause you can't select HTC Sync yu may have to try and find the official ZIP file for your handset and try running that...

if your claiming on you're insurance your is not affected by the software as you are claiming for physical damage not a warranty issue
except It didn't have insurance, my sister just activated it back again and am waiting another 40 days to not make it suspicious, "It got stolen!" cheers guys!
but I am still gonna miss it during the waiting period! ;/

nope, broke my nokia twice already and got 2 new devices instead of them fixing it, as they were both hacked and has a custom ROM (bricked them both, My first try at it!)

Hmm insurance fraud...
My thoughts exactly. You broke the phone by not taking care of it. Deal with it, buy a new one and put it under normal insurance for accidental damage.

I'm as well not a fan of insurance fraud, and you could get in trouble, but well i shouldn't care, but i was wondering why the hell you would want to replace the firmware with the original then, as it makes no difference? So why the original question?
And so all our premiums go up.

Indeed - it's this sort of thing that really annoys me.
Insurance "works" because most of the people who pay their premiums don't claim. When you get people like the OP, who take out insurance after the fact because they need to claim, it just makes it so much more expensive for those of us who aren't perpetrating insurance fraud!
Regards,
Dave

SCIENCE!!!
Nah, it froze up after user "t" on voxer added me as a friend(most likely a fake hacker account). After pulling the battery it locks up on the HTC boot screen. when booted into recovery it seems the system and cache partitions will no longer mount. Verizon let me upgrade(as i was out of insurance replacements) early to a rezound(which appears to be following a similar S-OFF situation-whiny impatient do-nothings crying foul over the wait and then of course the wait itself)
anywho im willing to give it to anyone interested in research and development. you just have to pay shipping(if its even worth it lol). If no one wants its just gonna get chucked.
BTW-off topic but whilst i wait for my rezound to come in the mail a friends letting me use a motorola photon on his sprint account and that phone sucks. the camera button sticks(its like 2 weeks old)and it freezes every so often.
You can probably still save it. Do you have adb set up?
yeah but everytime i try to flash a new recovery or anything at all for that matter(including trying NANDROID restores)it freezes and i get a failed message in adb and fastboot. something along the line of "to many reads" or something.
Did you try unrooting?
well its on GB(Virtuous Affinity), and from what ive read it has to be on froyo to unroot, and without being able to flash anything i kind of...cant
after reading this-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393538
it would seem it wasnt a hacker, but the tiniest drop of coka cola that fell on the front speaker grill, the voxer user thing could have just been a coincidance as this guys phone seems to be doing the exact same thing.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/incredible-2-rooting-roms-hacks/120950-guide-unroot-revolutionary-incredible-2-a.html
so.. how much for shipping??
I don't think i can save it but i hate to see if just thrown away
yep, even flashing using the pg32img method causes it to freeze, but ive editted my last post right at the same time you posted this so im fairly sure its useless to everyone now, but if someone wants a fancy paperweight its still up for grabs
and andy-shouldnt be much- it weighs almost nothing and with USPS flat rate shipping boxes maybe like 10$, ill take it by the ups store tomorrow when i go to pick up a case for my rezound(theyre right next to each other).
theres one thing im not-nostalgic except for the inc1 which was a soldier. it brought a tear to my eye when i found it dead.but for saving it, if it is a moisture problem, here in Birmingham(al not UK) we have smart hpone repair places all over the place, the only reason i didnt take it to one of those is verizon went way out of their way to ensure i wouldnt switch to sprint(which i threatened to do)

yeah that why im thinking it was that tiny drop of coke that slid down the side of the can a drip right into the front speaker grill(note to self-dont leave the phone in your lap whilst drinking something)tried to blow it out, but probably just blew it further in.
edit:because it was only a drop and not much you can have it for your fiance, then take it to a smart phone repair shop. I dont know what the prices are around you, but here its only like 95$ to clean it out(if the screen has moisture damage they replace it for a hell of alot more, but this ones fine), being that its probably that drop causing a small short. NO apx
may be other ways.
so long as the battery is unconnected.
vol+ and power then connect usb
vol + and vol- and power and connect usb.
Even if you get to a point where it just isn't causing anything to pop up in device manager then we can at least stop pursuing it and focus on the pogo pins as a way to apx mode.
battery no where in sight or reconnect bat when usb is plugged in etc?
Not might, will. They would be perfectly within their rights to do so, as well. Once you agree a return, it's no longer your property to open, not to mention that there's no way for HTC to know you didn't open the phone before your problem occurred.
You'd better hope they don't notice...

There's no "void" stickers until you start pulling the mainboards out. The only way they would notice is if the phone was somehow damaged in the process.
Re the APX mode - battery needs to be totally disconnected to start. Just try different combos with volume/power buttons and the usb connection. We're all just guessing atm.

Void stickers are not the only way to tell if a phone has been opened. (I know. I used to work for a major consumer / business electronics manufacturer, and one of my duties was inspecting returns and approving or denying warranty and refund claims.)
I wouldn't have taken it apart. There may be a small pin on the motherboard that will identify a case breach and log it. Wouldn't be hard for them to see it. And charge you for the phone.

Yes, let's throw him under the bus. There's every chance that he's not done anything HTC will detect *yet*, but that he will do so in trying to help out. Let's make sure he's aware of the chance that continuing may cost him the entire phone, if he hasn't already done so. Then he can decide if he wants to take that risk.
Or we can just open our own phones... and if we don't want to, why should we not try to help somebody else have a bit of common sense too?

Wrong. It snaps back together just fine, presuming he didn't break anything in opening it. (How do you think HTC puts it together in the first place?)
It's possible he hasn't yet done anything that will land him in hot water with his warranty, and that he will do so if he continues fiddling. It's equally possible he's already shot his warranty. Nobody knows, but if it's the latter he can always tear things back apart and fiddle when he gets his unwarranted phone back from HTC.
I respect the fact the OP wants to help, and the last time i checked that was the ethos of this forum. All i'm seeing is the poor guy being flamed for opening a phone. I'm sure he/she knew the risks. Time being a factor i noted that it was wasted with people assuming control based on previous experience.
"used to work in a *fill in the blanks*" is all very well but wins no respect if it's not followed up with a "so here's how to find out"

any way to know if it's fixable?
Uhh, it doesn't sound too easily fixable. If the screen isn't even turning on, you're off to a bad start. Sounds like some kind of hardware fault, not something you'll be able to flash to fix.

if you look at the phone, it's very clean, i can tell it never had a smudge or any fall...also the screen is clean, no scratches. quite a catch! what could have made the flex cable go bad?!
in the boot animation the screen is quite good!
You say in the boot animation the screen is good, does it ever clear up entirely? You COULD get a display like that from software, but it's more than likely hardware. For example, running Gingerbread ROMs on the Infuse with Froyo bootloaders cause similar rainbow effects due to a change in coding, so you can POSSIBLY have a scrambled display without a hardware failure.
It may have just been a faulty phone and that's why it looks like it's in good shape. It's not necessarily something that someone broke. It could be a bad GPU chip, it could be a flex cable as mentioned, it could be a lot of things. If you (or rather your friend) got it for cheap, and you want to try opening it up to inspect the cables, you can find disassembly threads and videos to tell you how. You could be going on a wild goose chase though.

Well, hell, you can try reflashing the software if you can see enough in recovery mode (vol down and power at the same time). I can't see how it would hurt it any more. From the sound of it, you either have VERY messed up software, or more than likely, faulty hardware. Does it seem like the display works any better when it's been off for a while (cold)? If it gets worse the longer it's on, or if it had been on and you just rebooted, it would point more towards a faulty gpu chip to me and the heat causing the problem to come out.
Not sure about how warranties transfer or if they do at all (might depend country to country too), but you could see if it's still under warranty and can be sent in before you open it up.

I thought my screen was going out, but if yours is doing it and there's no physical damage, had to be something in the phone, or maybe software is that even possible? Lol.

yes, check your PM.
Yes; my vibrator has come loose lol and is rattling within the phone. Has anyone tried replacing this or possibly have a write up for me to follow? This is very irritating since i cannot tell when im getting messages or calls. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Boy, she must be disappointed. :silly::laugh::laugh::laugh:

OMG..!!! The very subject line made me think outside of phones!!!! Sorry, don't mean to be mean, just giggling.
Did you try taking it to the service center?
I agree it is pretty funny. But i dont have any warranty for the phone so I was just going to change it out myself assuming it was not too difficult. But i cannot find a write up or anything like that. So any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the links. I saw the tear down of the entire phone, that's what i was going to try and follow. Hopefully all goes well. going to order the new motor and a new front screen as well and get them replaced.
Thank You

Same here.
I'd suggest using Krazy Glue or any form or Cyanoacrylate to secure it in place.
Well, i opened up the phone yesterday to see if it had come loose. but it is still held in place with its double stick tape. So i assume it's broken on the inside. So i will be ordering a new and gluing it into place hah.
