unzip
move it to your sdcard
Enter recovery (CWM or TWRP)
then restore

I wanted to know how can i unroot my desire 816 ? I tried the super su method and clicked on full unroot it restarted and i still have root access,any help will be much appreciated.
I guess you have to reboot to recovery immediately and flash stock recovery

So should i put the recovery.img in a zip file and flash it from the custom recovery ?

I have a rooted HTC Desire 816 dual sim, which I want to upgrade to lollypop also.

Please advice how to unroot HTC 816 and return to official stock ROM.
Current Version is 5.0.2
Unroot HTC 816 Dual Sim ( Indian Ver) 5.0.2 and back to Factory Firmware
HTC Desire 816 Dual Sim Lollipop India Version
Charge your Battery 100%.
Firstly you have to lock the boot loader.
Download the Correct RUU from below link

After download the correct RUU, Rename the Zip file as per your Model such as, mine is 0P9CIMG.
Place this Zip file into your memory card.
Then boot your HTC 816 into HBoot mode.
It will start the process automatically. It will take about 10-15 Minutes.
Finally you will get the phone on Factory version.

hold volume down +power
model will be on third line

When I do whatever you told, After entering HBOOT it gives me error, FAILED (remote: data length is too large). Please help..

Maybe we can solve your problem without this file?
Do you want to do a software update?
