Theme Engine?
Does CM12 have the theme engine? If so where do I find it?

Loading new versions
Can I load the 12/22 build over the 12/20 without doing a factory reset?

If there will be a theme engine it's not implemented yet.

Yes, but after flash make sure to wipe cache and dalvik cache. I did and everything is working fine. Wiping caches as a must though.

mobile data issue
Hello, after flashing this ROM mobile data isn't working. I tried to change APN with "Change APN" from play market, but I have a message "access point name settings are not available for this user" and when I try to add APN it is not save them. How to change APN? In preview port mobile data not worked too, but I repair it with change APN.
Devise ls970, sorry for my bad English, I am from PMR

How to prevent ROM from lagging at times from waking up device?

Any trickster mod settings you recommend? Thanks again for this rom!

CM12.0 Issues on LS970 Sprint
Let me first say I love the ROM... Good Job... I am however having a few serious issues...
1) While making a call, the phone immediately disconnects. When I call back, the other caller is still connected so it goes to voice mail. I will have to reboot the phone. This happens every time and is very difficult to manage since I have to enable airplane mode to end the call.
2) Phone calls will not end, pressing the end icon only makes the end option go away but the phone call is still in progress. I tried using a bluetooth headset and only the device.
3) The bluetooth cuts off, wades out and disconnects very often. I have tried multiple devices and have the same issue.
4) No SIM card- Sprint appears in notification bar on lock screen and can't be removed.
5)Voicemail by long pressing # one doesn't work
If you could please direct me how I can fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Dialer
I am a fool in love with this ROM. Everything about it except one major bug that has already been mentioned. I cannot make calls! The first time I make a call, it immediately reports "Call ended" although the person on the other end does get a silent call from me beyond my control. This blew up on me when someone important I was trying to call thought I was pranking them. I have to jump ship until it's fixed. Thanks for this almost perfect ROM.

Bluetooth Audio, Android Wear and Data
Some observations:
Bluetooth audio does not work for me. Tried multiple devices. They connect, but none will play audio. Phone audio does work however.
Android Wear is a little wonky with LG G Watch. Got the common Android Wear repeatedly crashing. Had to uninstall all Wear apps and reset the watch. That seemed to clear it up, but I'm not sure if all of the notifications are coming through.
Sprint data is odd to begin with. It seems when you lose wifi, cell data does not connect on it's own (I see the exclamation point icon). Toggling airplane mode sometimes worked to restore data. Rebooting seemed to work well.
Finally, I have a Google Voice number integrated with my Sprint number. Messenger doesn't work at all and Hangouts only sends texts. Only the Voice app fully works for me.

Great ROM! Can I use nightly updates from within the ROM?
Thanks for a great Lollipop ROM! One question:
In the Settings>About Home>CyanogenMod updates there are "Available Updates" listed, there are nightlies. Are these useful in any way or they unrelated to this unofficial L rom?
Also -- just a status on this ROM for me, it seems very usable and stable. A couple issues I've found:
- the provided Messaging app won't send out for me, it shows "SMS disabled" in the text area under messages. I installed "Google Messenger" and it works fine.
- there is a NO SIM CARD - SPRINT message on the lockscreen, but this phone doesn't use a SIM card (on the Sprint version anyway)
- the camera works but the exposure does not adjust dynamically: what I mean is that the stock camera lets you touch/focus a dark area of the photo and the entire image will brighten up to adjust the exposure for that spot in the image. In the same way touching a bright spot will dim the entire image a bit to expose better for that spot. This is not working in the camera app. I installed the Google Camera from the Play Store and it works the same, so I think an exposure variable is not communicating or something similar. I can manually adjust exposure but that does not solve it everyday usage where touching a spot usually adjusts both focus and exposure.
I hope this all helps improve the ROM. Thanks again!
PS. The earlier post mentioned bluetooth problems. For me, bluetooth is working perfect so far, including Bluetooth LE 4.0 connecting to my Fitbit.

Installing gapps with TWRP vs Phils Touch (Clockwork Mod)
A note on installation -- with TWRP 2.8.3.0 I was able to flash the main ROM but would get an error while trying to flash the 1109 version of gapps for Android 5:
" gapps error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/gapps-lp-20141109-signed.zip ". This leaves things broken and rebooting shows endless error dialogs.
To solve this, in TWRP I wiped and then flashed the main ROM file again, then flashed Phil's Touch version of Clockwork recovery for the LS970 ( philz_touch_6.23.3-ls970.zip ). I rebooted into Clockwork recovery and was able to flash gapps successfully.
Next time I think starting with Phil's Clockwork instead of TWRP would have made things easier for setting up this ROM.

Nightlies: Enabling root access and granting superuser to apps
SuperSU stopped working for me on the nightlies and I found out this is now built into CM12. Here is how I enabled root access and superuser management:
1. go to Settings > About phone > then repeatedly tap Build number to enable Development options menu
2. go to the newly enabled Settings > About phone > Development options
3. set Root access for Apps as needed
A prompt will appear when trying to use an app that needs root and the user can grant superuser access for that app, no SuperSU app needed anymore.
Various permissions can also be managed per app in the Settings > Privacy > Privacy Guard area (double tapp an app in the list there to see settings).

Sprint Visual Voicemail
One thing for Sprint Optimus G users who want this as a daily driver, Sprint Visual Voicemail is the best way to do voicemail (on Sprint, anyway). See instructions and APK here:

I really love how well this runs! I'm coming from Vanir and Commotio which is no longer being updated. The battery life on this is pretty good so far. I do have a question though. I assume the # symbol in the status bar is for root, but I'd really like to get rid of it. Does anyone know of a way to do this? As for the camera, I set the app to manual exposure under advanced settings and made it +2 (which is the highest allowed in the app). This helps but doesn't completely eliminate the need for dynamic on-the-fly exposure. Also, my 5ghz wifi doesn't work. Calls work fine for me. Proximity is good. Auto brightness is good(I think). 2.4ghz wifi is fine. 3g data is fine. Can't tell if 4g works as I haven't been able to get into a 4g area yet. Since the stock app was listed as not working I'm just using 8sms and it works just fine for texts. Overall fantastic job! Hard to believe this is so new and running like a daily driver!
Edit* Also, for me at least, gesture typing doesn't work with stock keyboard. I haven't tried swiftkey, swype, etc. yet, though.

@thejase About the # sign in the status bar, are you using SuperSU or something similar? If so, you don't need that anymore as root functionality is managed within the CM12 ROM now (see my earlier post on the steps to enable root within CM12).

Slowdowns and killing apps
After using various apps (browser, facebook, twitter, youtube, etc) I have experienced things get slow and just stop a couple times, perhaps an out-of-memory situation or some type of accumulation.
I noticed when force-restarting the phone that apps sometimes re-appear in the app switcher/card list even if they were closed previously. This might be an L bug beyond this ROM. Restarting the phone about once a day seems to help.

I'm in a 4G/LTE area and it works great! For SMS I've found that installing the official Google Messenger from the Play Store provides a working version of the very smooth Lollipop SMS/MMS experience on this ROM -- for example, when people send me MMS photos it creates a neat photo gallery right within the chat. Here is a link:

Google announced that there is a memory leak, they are fixing or have fixed it and it should be in the next update/release. 5.0.3 I think they said.

Google Talk issue - after a few minutes Contacts are all offline when not

I posted this in NilsP's Business GingerSense thread, but don't think it's a ROM issue, more of a Google Talk issue. Running the 2.0 version of that ROM.
The issue is where Google Talk shows all your contacts as Offline after a period of say five to ten minutes, maybe shorter than that. I'll be messaging someone, and after a few minutes when they haven't responded, I'll wake my phone and open GT. All the contacts are Offline. A simple sign out/sign in fixes that, and the usual contacts show Online or Away.I've noticed this all week, so I'm thinking it's a GT issue, but I've never had it happen before.
Don't want to have to sign out/in every time I want to use it. Cleared GT cache, fix permissions, multiple wipes of data/system/cache/boot/dalvik/user data before each ROM install, and haven't had this before now.
Thoughts?
EDIT: After playing, it happens when switching from 3G to WiFi and vice versa, so maybe it is a ROM thing...?
i'm having the same issue. noticed after my gingerbread OTA update from verizon.
Droid 2.
It seems to happen a few minutes after logging on.
I also have that issue with Gtalk. After some time all contacts appear to be offline, but only when I'm on data connection and not on wifi.
There is still no solution for this?
Cheers!

Me too. Anyone was able to do something?
Well I've since moved on, and haven't noticed it on other ROMs. Right now I just tested toggling Wifi on and off, and the contacts would appear offline, then come online once 3g or wifi connected.
I'm thinking in my case, it was that version of the ROM I was running at the time.

Just a thought, check any task killers / managers and make sure talk is unchecked. I had the same problem a long time ago and ATK was the culprit. Haven't had the issue since and I have used almost every Rom possible at one point or another

True. Right after I rooted over a year ago, I had an issue with the alarm clock not going off intermittantly, and coincidentally I was using ATK at the time. After reading that ATK could be the issue, uninstalling it fixed the issue. Since then, I don't actively kill tasks, but I do have System Panel installed just in case.
I'm running Stock+ v2.6, and since moving on from v2.0 of NilsP's ROM where I had the initial issue, I haven't noticed/had the problem.

Hi,
Me and the other user are I9000 users. No task killers. We're trying to figure out if its a stock / custom ROM issue (since we're both using the same ROM), or some app forcing GTalk to sign out, or even a network problem (we both use the same mobile operator).
Thank you both for your input.
If you're on a stock ROM (you're both rooted right?), back up your ROM and flash another just to see if it happens in something different.

Yes, we are.
The thing is that it seems to me that it happened only after XXVJR (meaning it happened to me in XXJVS and XXJVT, and now we're already at XWJVU, all these being Samsungs "leaks"), and I have a friend with XXJVS that works just fine.
I even tried flashing a stock ROM, to see if it happens again. Testing that one now.
Thanks for your advice.
Same problem here.
Although I have not tried it with stock non rooted phone...
I'm having the same problem on a stock rooted Motorola Photon. Very annoying to have to sign out and back in to see who's online. Hopefully someone comes to the rescue with a solution.
Hi,
The only thing I could find is that the problem is, indeed, NOT in the custom ROM's. It's google's problem.
The only way I could get by was with an alternative IM. And, for me, the better is Trillian (taking battery, performance, etc. in consideration.)
I updated my software which included an updated gtalk with video..so far so good.

I am having this issue too. I have had it since the beginning, when I had the preinstalled stock rom, I had it with all the other stock roms I flashed, I had it with all the versions of Talk I tried (those which supported video calls), I had it with all the other customs roms I tried (Simplicity, CyanogenMod, MIUI). I never used any task killer. For these reasons I am strongly convinced this is a Google Talk related bug.
Some more details about the problem:
after a few minutes after having logged in, contacts are shown offline on Android while they appear online on the desktop client;
despite their offline status I still receive messages from them and as soon as I answer only that contact appears online while the others keep being shown offline;
signing out and back in fixes the problem temporarily, but it happens again after a few minutes.
What surprises me is how come very few people seem noticing it or being annoyed by it? How come a huge bug like this has been out for so long and Google hasn't fixed it yet? All the posts I have seen reporting this problem on Google Talk Help Forum have been ignored.
Exact same problem with my I9100, Gtalk with video. Very annoying.
I have the SGS i777 (Samsung Galaxy S2 on AT&T), and just recently (since late February) started experiencing the same issue. When on WiFi, it doesn't appear to be an issue, only when not on WiFi, particularly if I have just recently turned off WiFi.
Other "friends" show me as "Away", so I am connected.
This is bone stock 2.3.6 Samsung official ROM (never rooted UCKK6).
I tried crawling a bit through the logs (aLogCat output), filtering for "[Tt]alk", but I can't make enough heads or tails about where the failure might be (not being an actual developer), other than lots of messages get created. I'll see if I can't figure something more useful out about it.
A hard reset with no apps installed has the same problem. Though I've noticed that the problem appears to get "worse" as the phone "ages" - namely, hard reset fixes the problem, but it slowly (over days) gets worse and worse.
Update: I have not noticed this issue at all since getting the official Samsung/AT&T ICS build (IML74K.CLE5).
Google Talk failing for toooo loooong
Hi there,
I'm a cyanogen 7.1 (stable) android user, and I just want to join myself to every other person who's affected by this issue.
I'll leave here some links to other places discussion exactly the same issue:
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?can=2&start=0&num=100&q=gtalk%20offline&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars&groupby=&sort=&id=24242
You may check this thread: groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!topic/chat/6m0YqHoiIDg
Until now, I wasn't also able to find any clue to what the cause may be.
Starting to suspect that's something on Google's side, not android/rom itself.
Maybe something to do with our google accounts' settings?
Are there any news about this issue? I'm having the same problem.

2 common problems that I've always had issues with

Alright, I’ve had Sourcery JB on my phone for a while now. V4.3
Over time these are the problems I just can’t understand and need some light shined on them please.
The GPS:
Is a joke. It has NEVER been accurate one single time since I’ve installed the rom. It’s always 2000+m OFF. what the faq? All my apps are updated, what’s the deal?
Sending pictures:
I use GOSMS. However, I CANNOT for ANYTHING send pictures via text in this app. I have to go through the native app every single f’ving time and that only works 50% of the time. Wtf is going on here? Is it AT&T? Is it the rom or my phone or what?
Would going back to stock JB fix all these issues? I love the ROM(s) but the problems listed above are VERY important to get working as they are some of most basic functions phones have.
I almost just updated to JBSourcery V5 and tried sending picture using default text msg app. Still, same results. It won’t f’ving send.
Please help.
Not sure about your GPS issues - mine has always been pretty quick to lock regardless of the ROM I'm using.
But in regards to your problems with MMS messaging - I had the same issue on every ROM, including stock until I switched to AOKP. I called ATT to make sure everything on their end was as it needed to be. Double and triple checked my APN settings, all to no avail. Not sure what it was about this particular ROM, but since flashing, I haven't had any issues.

Sense 5 Rom Comments

I've got a low post count but wanted to weigh-in on the current version of the Sense 5 rom.
I'm using T-Mobile, so not sure if my issues are related to my carrier or not...
1) Bluetooth isn't working. Turning it on does not result in anything...it goes fro turning on to off. Assuming it's the HTC One S ril that the rom is based on casuing this problem.
2) HTC Messages (the stock messenger) will not let me click a link in the message. If someone send me a text with an external link, and I go to click it, it causes Messages to force quit. I can use 3rd part apps and it works fine. Just an FYI...
3) HTC Locations doesn't work but I believe that is a Sense 4/ Sense 5 issue.
Everything else seems to be working. I am using this as my daily rom and haven't had any troubles (besides the ones mentioned above).
Thank you to everyone working on this!

when I used it the dailer would freeze and fc and data wouldnt stay on 4g or h
More insights:
Camera works but the facial recognition seems to be wonkey. I've turned it off so as not to see it jumping around like crazy.
Video...not sure if this is working. I do know that it comes on and the camera crashes and I have to restart.
FM radio...not a deal-breaker, but if I stick a pair of headphones in - the tuner never lets go and stations can't be tuned in.
GPS...saw that was one of the 'not working' apps. I don't really use it for navigation...as long as you've got wifi it seems to be able to locate but driving with it is impossible as it doesn't seem to know where you or or lock your position in.
I've been using this since JMZ updated the last version (so 2 weeks?). Haven't had a problem. And none of these, for me, make this rom unusable...it would just be nice to have a fully working one with Sense 5.
I will work on it some more when I get my oc back as my desktop is old and slow.

[Q] Rom or app to fix either bluetooth handsfree or disable 4g

Hi All,
I love my captivate, but replaced it with a droid 4 so I could switch off 4g and use hands free. The issue I have is, where I live we have poor cell coverage except for 2g. If the phone has even the faintest sniff of 3g or 4g it connects to that. This results in no calls or few calls getting through, hence needing to turn it off. All the roms I have tried don't seem to allow you to select 2g only (my droid does). Also all the roms I have tried prior to august have Bluetooth issues and have no audio on any of my 3 HF kits. If I use the standard at&t rom, they all work, just stuck with 4g.
I have tried the service menu, but that only works sometimes and I find myself missing a few calls and spending half my time messing with that menu. Any apps I tried, only actually link to the phones menu and don't actually do much more than provide a shortcut.
Please help, as I would prefer to use this over my droid, especially as that has the dreaded earpiece issue. AAARRRRRRRGGGGG

Hi
Have you tried sediROM and if so: are your BT devices working with it?
If that is the case and you want to permanently disable 3G and 4G for the device:
Open dialer
Type in: *#*#2263#*#
Tap menu 3 (GSM bands)
Select 1 (All GSM)
Tap the menu button and press "end" if the menu does not close automatically after that.
Hint: never use the "back" key while in service mode!
That way you will effectively disable or enable 3G and 4G. You can revert by choosing automatic instead of menu 3.
As this is something you do not want to do every day I can recommend the app Llama (2 "L"). With this you could switch on/off 3G based on your location (based on the phone cell , gps e.g. or based on whatever you want). You need to specify a rule within Llama where you define a event and an action. The action can then be to use 3G etc or disable it e.g. when you leave home enable it and disable it when come back.
If sediROM works for your BT devices then you should be fine with either the above permanent solution and/or using Llama.

Thanks for this. I have flashed phone and will try over the weekend. Thanks for the code hint, I never used to press end, which may be half the problem. I have downloaded Llama too. On initial setup it doesn't seem to be switching to 2g. This could possibly be a error on my part and will continue playing. FYI the code is actually *#*#2263#*#*

Thanks yeah I typed the code with my phone so I missed the last asterisk but you figured it out already.
Llama itself will do nothing until you tell it what to do.
So you need to add a rule within Llama first and then you need to add an action like disable 3G,4G.
Check the doc here: http://kebabapps.blogspot.de/p/llama-handling-guide-instructions.html
In my case the service menu method is working fine nevertheless. Llama would be a fallback only or if you want to have some automatism only (well THEN Llama is a great tool btw).
Have fun
FYI
After a week with the captivate, I was reminded just how much of a pain in the butt all this is. I was happy I had BT, however the 4g just won't go away. I think with the pac rom I could at least get that to stay off, but had no BT.
Llama wouldn't stop 4g. I even had it set to ignore the 4g towers it could see, however it seems to have some kind of AI and knows when you have relaxed that you have it sorted, and would then connect to 4g even though it says "ignore". The service menu does the same and even though you go in and check and it says gsm only it will be on 4g and I would have to enable and save it on, then again off.
Also the wireless in this rom seems to take a long time to wake up when you wake phone.
Close but not worth the hassle.
I have just installed a nokia earpiece in my droid 4, and am able to hear again.

Well sounds bad and thx for giving feedback nevertheless.
The only thing I want to ask is have you tried sediROM or pacman ROM only? Just wanted to have it clear because I do not know which of the above problems occured with pacman and which not or all of them etc..
cu.

All the 4g issues were with the original ics rom and also with sediROM, however I could connect to bt. most of the jellybean and kitkat roms were good in controlling 4g, but would not connect to my bt headsets.
Good work on the sediROM though

[Q] WiFi turns off during sleep.

So I'm currently using stock Google Play Experience Lollipop 5.1 (build H10), and I've been having this issue for ages now, including previous builds.
When my device's screen is off for long enough, the wifi connection is dropped. Because of this, apps like Pushbullet can't send SMS, and voice search on my smartwatch fails with the error "offline."
I've tried everything I can think of (short of reverting to Sense/Factory) including a full wipe and clean install via RUU, just to make sure drivers etc. are up to date, but no luck.
I'm starting to wonder if it's an app I have installed, but don't know how to start investigating that other than uninstalling my >100 apps one by one!
Any help will be much appreciated, this issue is a real nuisance.
Thanks
This happens to me as well... Used to happen on sense but it was minimizing by changing it specifically to 2.5ghz instead if auto... On GPE that doesn't work ..
