Friend can you tell me which app you are using.

Would it be possible for some of you guys to install a couple of apps to test as I'm having problems with them.
The apps are World Newspapers (Abhishek Kumar) & BBC News (Jim Blacker). They install fine & launch. The problem I'm having is that I can't read any of the articles over wifi. When I turn off wifi & use 3g connection everything works fine.
I've done a hard reset & installed just those two apps but same thing happens. Also what I found is after a hard reset I can't access Android market over wifi. I have to switch off wifi & sign in using 3g connection first but after that its fine
Thanks

It happened to me as well and same as you first I had to access the market with 3G connection first to pass the terms and services stage/page.
Just a wild guess here... maybe both apps need to know where you are (location/country) so they can push the right news to you and that is not possible over a wifi connection.
I have both apps installed on a Dell Streak, HTC Desire, Galaxy S & Orange San Francisco with everything working perfectly fine over wifi.

Ouch! I did say it was a wild guess. Do you own all those devices? : )
Have you tried to set your network type to 2G only to see if that helps? Please kill/stop both apps first and if you are about to change your network type then please don't forget to reset it back.
Sorry mate wasn't trying to be cocky....
I've just installed Engadget app & having problems with that as well. When using over wifi it downloads the articles text only, pictures don't load. Again over 3g the whole article including pictures downloads just fine.
FYI Pulse app displaying same behaviour...
I think I may have a faulty phone.

What you just described in above meets when Data Server is enabled. Menu>Settings>Data Manager>Data server
This feature is meant for 3G though so I don't get why that happens over your wifi.
Another thing came in my mind was that a standard router supports 4 ports (connections) and you listing dozens of devices I was wondering how many devices are connected to the router when you are using your Defy? Surely you have a couple of pc/laptop too : )

My phone speaker stopped working after a couple of weeks so I returned to Amazon for refund. My Defy definately had a problem with the apps I described including yours, but as there not much people replying to this thread then maybe it was limited to just my device.
My friend
Where are you and which ISP you are using?
I believe the problem doesn't caused by your Defy.

HI there its nothing to do with isp. I have a Dell Streak, HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S & JUST got a Nexus S & they all have no problems with the apps.
Oh. I'm sorry about that. Can you check /system/etc/host ? You can view that as a text file. In a normal situation you can see "localhost 127.0.0.1" . if there has any other text, could you tell me?

Hi. I have a problem with my GIO: Anytime I try to stream a video from YouTube, it works fine for a 2 or 3 minutes and then it locks up. I know it's not a bandwidth issue, as this happens even when there's still plenty of buffered video left to be played. It simply freezes. I can move the seekbar for a few seconds, and then it locks up completely. Not even the back key works. The only thing I can do is press Home and then use the Task Manager to kill the app.
This happens in both the stock browser and the YouTube app (latest version). I tried another YT player from the market (Freedi) and it performed the same.
I'm currently using stock firmware XXKTK (the latest for my country - Romania), but I was having the exact same issues with the factory XXKPA and the Open Germany XXKTF.
Has anyone else had this issue? Thank you.
Anyone?
Bump...
Anyone? I can't be the only one having this issue...
Downgrade your Youtube App
Clear cache/user data and then try

Mind.BLOW, I already tried that, nothing changed.
@avilove4u: It was the same on several (stock) firmwares, so I doubt that's the issue.
UPDATE: I just installed the most recent official FW (Taiwan I think) and the EXACT SAME happened. I really don't understand why.
Hasn't anyone else had this problem?

may be your bandwidth speed is slow

No, it's clearly not the bandwidth. As I said i my first post, it often locks up when there's still buffered video to be played. And then the app locks up completely. I can't even exit by normal means. So it's not the connection.

I'm already running the stock FW. And yes, I've reflashed it with Odin. I also tried 3 other different versions of stock FW, without installing anything else. EXACTLY the same...
I also tried clearing YT's data & cache. You guessed it: same thing.
I've also tried a CM7-based ROM (Touchwizzed) and it didn't improve at all...
I really don't understand what's wrong with it.
Thats just the youtube app being buggy

You have the problem when using wifi and 3g?
Because I had a similar problem with my HTC magic (there was also a buffered part loaded but stopped playing). I was always fighting with the wifi connection of my router.
You can try to test on an other wifi connection.
HTC M8 here, ever since I upgraded to this phone I have experienced slow slow speeds with Google play store.
When updating an app, get 130k per second. This is with wifi OFF. Speedtest shows I have at least 20mb/second downloading no problem.
Anyone else have slow updating speeds?

I'm having the same problem. I'm using Samsung galaxy 4 on CyanogenMod 11 with Telus. Its so slow downloading on Google play but fast on WiFi and when I watch Netflix or internet, its fast on LTE... So annoying.

Same Problem Here !!
Tried Factory RESET !!! < No LUCK
Change Google Account < No Luck
Change Routers< No LUCK
Changing ROMS <No LUCK
CAN"T FIND A SOLUTION !!!!!!:crying::crying:
You guys can try clearing cache? Also makeing sure that you have the newer version of google play store.
The Nexus 7 (2013) can now do full screen casting through Chromecast - I've done it, but the delay between the device and the Chromecast is pretty bad. There is a good 4-6 second delay between the two. It starts off perfect, but quickly slows down. Just wondering how anyone else's experiences are.
I get about 1/3 second lag. What's your router, any g devices?
Mine won't work, I just get FC of google play services (I read some others have the same issue, it's a cleanly installed 4.4.4 stock ROM), not a big deal, I'm not the type who needs to cast the screen from my device anyway, but it's nice to know it's there, it's a beta, so hopefully it will be addressed.
Mine works flawlessly. Little to no latency. I can play Clash of Clans on my TV :good::laugh:
Mine is also working perfectly, pretty cool
I use a Cisco ValetPlus (Wireless N). It's definitely not the router - but I haven't used my Chromecast in months prior to this, maybe it needs an update to enable WiFi Direct or whatever the new protocol is.
If it doesn't work at all, try rebooting the chromecast. Long lag might be interference, change router channel?

Yeah, tried hard rebooting, as well as resetting the chromecast, as well as my device, cleared cache, etc, it's simply broken for me.
If it helps:
Chromecast firmware 17250
Chromecast app version 1.7.4, also worked on 1.5.5
Google play services 5.0.84(1259630-036)

I have exactly the same versions. Weird.
Thanks for taking the time to post that though.
My cast screen works perfectly, depending on app in use I might see instances where the audio goes out of sync for a half a second, but virtually no lag whatsoever.
For those keeping score, I think my issue is due to viper4android, casting works fine in android L for me (where there is no viper installed), and based on the logcat in 4.4.4 when it fails it looks like the audio portion is where it crashes, this weekend I will copy my 4.4.4 rom to a secondary slot and remove viper to confirm.
Looks like I may be on the right track: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54073200&postcount=14279

I don't have this problem, I suggest you go to Settings/Applications/Youtube and clear all settings and cache and see if it solves the problem, if not I think a hard rest is required.
Sometimes I don't have them too... But when they start to appear it is so freqient that watching video is impossible.
Srsly . Thought it was just me. This device sucks. I regret breaking my mi5 and switching to this one.
Can anybody test the WiFi with the nougat update, thanks.
Yes, I agree, it is so annoying.
