Hi, I'm new to rooting and was directed here after successfully completing the CF auto-root method on my Sprint GS3.
I've noticed that I keep reading that the CF auto-root method is "intended for those who plan to use stock touchwiz, but just want root access for apps." My question is: is there something about this method that will not allow me to flash a custom ROM if I wanted to? I was interested in trying out Cyanogenmod but I don't want to brick my phone... Would I be able to do this with my current root?
Thanks for your help!
No. It will just give you root access. Use the unified root toolkit under the development sticky to root and flash recoveries and roms. It is easy to use, just follow the directions.
i recently rooted my note 2 and foolishly updated to 4.3 using kies and ive lost root access just asking if i follow the same method as i did 1st time round will it overwrite my 1st root. my phone works fine as it is but i want it rooted any ideas

Just flash a pre-rooted 4.3 stock rom and you will (obviously) gain root again.
And forget Kies for good.

I have tried Kingo Root, and the Safe Root option. Neither have worked. Kingo gets blocked by KNOX and Safe Root can't find the SU binary when it tries to root. (I don't see why it should already be there...because it's not rooted). Any help would be appreciated.
Android 4.2.2
Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (LTE, International Version)
Any more questions about the device just ask.
I don't really wanna have to wipe and stick a custom recovery on here to root.

CF auto root; flash it via ODIN.
