I'm confused, is this a question? Because this is posted in the Q & A section. Also, there is absolutely no reason at this point in time to make a one click root for Lollipop when there is an effective root method for stock. If you want Lollipop that bad, you should rollback to stock and Stumproot then Bump your G3 and flash a pre-rooted official Lollipop stock build or just flash the updated SuperSU binary from within TWRP. What we have works great and took a long time and a lot of work to develop, no need to make it difficult for the wonderful devs who did this for us.

hello
So since I'm new to Android as of this fall I have some questions regarding this rom
If I ever want to get back my LG "OS", is that possible once I moved to stock Android?
Can I update a stock Rom like this once new updates are out?
Any way to backup my data before I restore everything?
Thank you for your time and I will be sure to donate to show my support

This is a stock LG OS Lollipop version, what you're thinking about is a vanilla Lollipop version by Google and that one we don't have yet for the LG G3.
I don't know about updates though either, I'm curious about it myself.
If you want to install this then you need to be rooted and you need to have TWRP, which is a custom recovery, installed. Once you have that, you can backup with TWRP.
Take a look here for root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
and here for TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/bump-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-d852-d852g-f400-t2900614
You should read up on root and custom recoveries a little bit so you understand the risks, but if you just follow the instructions closely then there should not be any problems but you never know. So be prepared to take the risk first before doing this.
If you don't care about root then there is another way that you can read about here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/kdz-lollipop-5-0-v20a-final-kdz-beta-t2935610 but then know that you maybe won't ever have root if you install this.
what you mean by "Factory Reset" can you be more specific in TWRP?

There is an option called Factory Reset in TWRP if I remember correctly. That is a full wipe of dalvik, cache, data and system I think.
Read about it here: http://teamw.in/whattowipe

You would want this if you are impatient as most of us here Otherwise you could just wait and remember not to install any updates before people here have checked it if it's rootable or not.
AOSP roms are based on vanilla Android and if you like how vanilla looks then you could wait. AOSP roms should be here soon, I think many people would want to see them on the G3. If the ROMs are bumped then it's easy to change between ROMs if you don't mind restoring your apps every time

it doesn't wipe system, you are correct, system then gets replaced if you were to flash something new over the top.
Thanks

Thank you very much for taking your time with a noob like me Can I ask how people stand loosing all the apps and data everytime they swap roms? That seems like a lot of work?
I used rom manager to backup my current rom, is this correct to do if I ever want to go back?
Good job!!
Is there a certain order in which one has to flash the zips?
Also, could you give an ETA on the upload?
Good job, BTW!

Make sure you flash the rom before you flash the new boot.img otherwise the rom will override the root enabled boot.img.

Will D855 roms work on a bump'd D850 phone? Some people have been telling me it does but I'm not sure
Thanks for the help!

No problem mate Well I personally have almost everything on the cloud. Pictures, music, contacts, calender and so on. Many of the apps that I use have a backup option like Nova Launcher, Whatsapp etc. Then it's just to go on Play Store on a PC and take a look at the list of the apps that I've installed earlier and install those that I would like back again.
Question about your D855 Lollipop ROM
Just signed up to ask this (new to G3 rom flashing):
The download for the ROM is 10MB? When I had a Galaxy S4 i9505 - the ROMS were 200MB ~
Why is this ROM so small?
Thanks for your time.

[Q] Ok this is doing my head in.. LG G3 L5.0 rooted install

Rito guys,
I have used IOS for the past many years and bought a LG G3 855 (australia 16g, this is the international on yea?) 2 days ago.. I quickly found a website that guided me through the LG Flash tool method of updating to the leaked L version D85519H_00 and away I go! Now what I didn't realize is and as this website explains http://www.androidpit.com/lg-g3-android-update that rooting the device is nye impossible now...
SO, after more and more searching around I have found I needed to flash back to kitkat 4.4.2 and then do a TWRP backup thingy from this install method of a modded/rooted L http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-lollipop-rooted-rom-skin1980-t2936022 then install the rom through recovery? I have had no luck (mainly because I don't what half of the terminology means) doing the modem/backup with TWRP to begin with as most methods need the device rooted (which I can't do now after my first install of L5.0..)
Can anyone clearly paint a picture for me on the steps needed to achieve rooted L5.0?
OR
Is it worth keeping the L5.0 leak version (non rooted) and when LG releases their official version just do a software update and wait for someone to figure out how to root that? (I'm assuming here I can just do a software update on top of the leaked version to upgrade to the LG official here?)
Cheers and thanks for your time guys I'm super excited to be an android user now and no idea what I wasn't sooner!
Jacob
We need to have Android 4.4 KK
Installation:
1. We must do ROOT -
2. Next, you install TRWP
3. We go into Recovery (TRWP)
4. Recovery enter the Wipe and enable - Cache, Data, and we do wipe Dalvik
5. Wipe Exit tab
6. We are entering a Instal
7. We are looking for our files and install one after the other (without rebooting):
1. ROM
2. SuperSU
8. REBOOT SYSTEM
I think I understood everything
L 5.0 + root http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073

Hey thanks for your fast reply!
Your instructions look spot on for a normal situation but as I mentioned at the start I can not root my device since I installed the leaked L5.0 version, apparently it makes it a lot harder to do..
Also I should mention I can't get MTP working so it makes it even harder to do the TWRP backup without rooting the device first.
This is the only option at this time to have root on 5.0

Flash 4.4.2 KDZ. Root it. Install twrp, etc etc etc.
Yeah mate your best bet would be to use the LG Flash Tool 2014 (Readily available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190 ) to flash back your Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM if you want to root it, since without using a custom kernel and then flashing a custom recovery that supports that rooted kernel, we can't yet achieve vanilla root on Android L. Make sure if you flash back an older ROM you do it via CSE (CSE wipes all data on the phone, used for major upgrades, but a normal flash just attempts to update the system and keep your data, useful for small software updates).
Your other option would be to do as NZfoR said above and flash back down to 4.4.2, and then re-flash the already rooted and bumped ROM and kernel he linked you to, therefore giving you root on Android L.
That being said, although we can't get one yet, we've got the best devs in the world here on XDA, so it won't be long before someone finds a bug in the boot-loader that allows us to achieve permanent root (In fact I believe that someone already has and is just working on a way to exploit it).
We've also got the best community here, if you need help for pretty much anything regarding Android and specifically your G3, there's always at least 1 person here who knows how to solve it, so ask questions!
Good luck, you won't regret coming over to the sweet-side of mobile phones
Cheers guys! I had tried downgrading to kk 4.4.2 and tried to stumproot but it said my software had been patched SBD could not be rooted. Like I said I think installing the leaked L5.0 its changed something making it harder to root now..
I'm finding it hard to do the TWRP backup 1. I don't even know what it does or how to do it 2. I've had 2 days android experience haha... Keen to teamspeek or Skype call iDefalt?

[Solved] Need help with installing Cyanogenmod (Without a PC if possible)

Hi all, new to all of this. Please keep this in mind as you read this thread.
Well first of all I have been reading about Cyanogenmod and how it helps saves battery. I also wanted to use cputuner to overclock my phone a little. I have in the past rooted this phone and installed cputuner not knowing that it could damage your phone if you didn't have a custom kernel that supported overclocking. After I found that out I uninstalled it and unrooted in fear of damage to my phone. Anyways I have a few questions and was looking knowledge, resources, and help about a few things.
Questions:
Is installing a custom rom and things needed to install a custom rom possible with a PC?
Can I safely reroot my device since I unrooted through #SU?
What do I need to do besides reroot my device in order to install a custom rom? (Cyanogenmod)
Thanks in advance!
Other INFO:
My device is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I-747
Firmware 4.4.2 KitKat
Device was rooted before using towelroot but I unrooted using #SU.
.
Ok. To install cm with no computer use, I'd say the easiest way would be to get root again with towelroot. Then install flashify from the play store. use flashify to install a custom recovery. I prefer TWRP.
Next download cm rom and Gapps. Follow the installation instructions for the rom. Generally that's boot into recovery, wipe dalvik, cache, system, and data, flash rom, flash Gapps, then reboot. You can do this from the internal SD, it won't erase that when you wipe. However, an external SD can be really handy for getting out of a jam.
If you haven't done it, a little research on the forums here about backing up your efs might be in order before flashing roms. Hope you never need it, but it could make life easier someday.
Read, read, read the forum here. This was just a real brief overview. If you don't quite understand any part, it should at least help you with what to search to learn what you need to know.

Thanks friend will look into it a little more. So is there a major risk of getting bricked or are chances slim? Also do you have any links to the Cyanogenmod version I'm looking for? I would like it to be 4.4.2, not 5.X.X. And I also need the appropriate gapps file. If you don't know I still thank you for the info friend!

Chances of bricking should be slim as long as you follow the instructions closely.
CyanogenMod 11 is based on Android 4.4.X, Kitkat. Nightlies can be found here or here.
Snapshot releases, sometimes called monthlies, can be found here.
There are options regarding Google Apps( GAPPS ) the choices from CM are here.
Some prefer the GAPPS packages provided by Paranoid Android, look here.

Thanks so much! Have been researching like crazy and odds seem pretty good. Problem is I've hit a ditch headfirst. I can't reboot using towering because I updated my kernel sometime through the period when my phone was unrooted (idk when or how this was done.) The date is apast june the 3rd and i read it won't work apast that date. Is there a workaround for this? I have no PC so I would like a non-PC method if possible. I just wanted to say I have tried all the modstrings for toweroot and still nothing.

The June 3rd date probably only counts if you took all of the OTA updates, okay rechecked your OP and I see that you are on NE4. I recall that either the NE4 or the NJ1 update patched the kernel to block TowelRoot. I take it when you say Firmware 4.4.2 KitKat you mean baseband, modem, and Samsung stock rom.
With SuperSu you can re-root using it, assuming you unrooted but did not remove the app. I don't know if the same applies to th SU app that comes with CWM. You could try. If you did go back to stock rom and properly formated you may no longer have su on your phone.
Yes, if you have a custom recovery on your phone you should be able to re-root without a PC. Search for the zip version of SuperSu, put it on an external sdcard, and flash it through the recovery. Without a custom recovery I'm not sure of other options not requiring root that do not involve a PC (Windows or Linux) or a Mac. Apps like Flashify require root, so will not work for you at the moment.

I'm stuck.
You can install a custom recovery without having root, if you have a PC. You would use either Odin, Heimdall, or maybe adb.
You can install a custom recovery without a PC if you have root. You would use an app Like Flashify, Rom Manager, or Goo Manager (if it still exists).
You can flash a rom without a PC if you have a custom recovery, root is not needed.
Some roms, usually stock, can be flashed without a custom recovery if you have a PC.
I don't know the solution until you have access to a PC. I could see it being possible using a live USB with persistence of a Linux distribution, but you still have need for a PC. It's been a while since I created a live USB. The method I used required a small installation on the PC. so I don't see this as an immediate solution for you.
Oh sorry. I don't think towelroot works once you're on nj1, unless it has been updated.
If you get access to a PC, rooting is still fairly easy. You can use download mode and odin or heimdall to flash a custom recovery (be sure to uncheck reboot if using odin, or be really ready to pull battery). Don't let your phone reboot normally, you'll have to pull battery once odin is done.
Reboot to custom recovery, then flash supersu and you'll be rooted again, and set up to do whatever you want with your phone.

Thanks all for your help. I have decided I'm gonna give C-F Root a try as it seems very easy, then use Flashify to get CWM. Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no boot loader for my model type right? Is there anything else to be aware of when using a new Rom?

excuse for butting in .... but if you dont know your bootloader/modem info. here is an app called 'samsung info' that should tell you.
your question "...... but theres no bootloader for my phone model right?" kinda worried me. its important to know because they should match AND trying to downgrade can brick your device. on the plus side ; i've never seen a custom ROM include bootloader/modem in it.
again , just a thought and not trying to butt in.:good:

As mrrocketdog stated, the Samsung Info app will tell you your bootloader and modem. If what you previously stated is correct, they should both be NJ1. You can get the same info by issuing these commands in a terminal emulator on the phone:
Code:
getprop ro.bootloader
and
Code:
getprop | grep version.baseband
Appreciate the butting in! You may have just saved me from bricking my phone lol. Maybe I need to do a lot more research because that just lost me. So how do I tell that my phone is equipped with a boot loader? And if it is how do I disable it? I read that in order to flash a new Rom the boot loader must be disabled. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I'm no where near the point of flashing a new Rom (Cyanogenmod) but this is a great furniture reference to me.

every phone has a bootloader , two if i'm not mistaken. the one you're concerned with comes already unlocked on the good 'ol S3. (i bricked my first s3 trying to 'unlock' the bootloader). just find out bootloader/modem version (see posts above) to make sure they match (to avoid issues later) and just dont ever try to downgrade.

You have lifted a burden off my shoulders friend! Ever since I wanted to flash a custom Rom I've been worried if my phones bootloader was locked! I can now be at ease now that I know its unlocked. Will check upon that info about bootloader/modem.
Here is the info mrrocketdog
Is there a reason you can't use a PC to install a ROM?
I'm asking because I also do not know of a way to install a ROM without having root.
If you are able to root, you could try using the CM installer again.

Those are the latest versions of the bootloader and modem. You will be good for CM 12 or CM 11, and other custom ROMs based on CM. Older versions will work with them, but you probably need to edit the updater-script. (The older versions are not likely to include the NJ1 versions in the checks as they were not out when the ROMs were last updated.) NJ1 will also work with any of the ROMs based on the KitKat TouchWiz releases by Samsung.
As soon as you can find a PC to borrow you should be in business. Any chance of using one at a public library?
Appreciate all the help you gave me too friend, providing the links to cm and gapps, gonna borrow my friends laptop Sunday and try to root flash C-F Root through Odin. Thats the part that scares me but I should be good as people has confirmed it works for NJ1. Wish me luck friend. Would you recommend installing CM12? I personally like kit Kat and I know CM11 is based on that but is CM12 better? I guess its based on Lollipop

Marshmallow 6.0.1

Update is due to come out next month, will you be upgrading?
Pros:
New system
Chances are less bugs than lolipop
Cons:
Lose root
May now be able to root with the old lollipop kernel
What do you think?
I personally think that we will still have access to install twrp and flash su zip for root without a custom kernel.

People don't look at dates nor the fact that he's been gone. Oh and MM 6.0.1 has been rooted.

D851 Stuck on KK 4.4.2. Need help upgrading to latest version of stock android.

As per title I'm stuck with T-Mobile on the Android KitKat 4.4.2 version. I have root, TWRP, Bootloader is unlocked, and I know how to use backup apps such as Titanium.(thank you guides)
What I'm trying to do is upgrade to the latest version of stock Android without losing root, apps and TWRP. Is there a way to do something like this?
Sorry if this is a newbie question. Thanks to anyone who helps me out in advanced!

yes it's very easy if you already have root and twrp. Download the latest updated rom you want and flash the bootstrap 1st then the rom. There's roms that already have root access so it's even easier
I have a very vague understanding how any of this works. I managed to get this far thanks to everyone who helped make the tutorials I used to make it to were I am now.
What exactly is a bootstrap?
Same for the ROM Would it be easier to aquire an OTA with root so I wouldn't have to go through all the time and effort that Titanium backups take? Or would I still lose all my apps? I'm trying to do this the as hassle free as possible. If the OTA suggestion is not an option, where would I find a rooted stock Android Marshmallow ROM(if such exists)? Or would I not be able to jump from KK to MM?..
Thanks for your reply! and again sorry for being a complete script kiddie
