Headphones crackling sound. Need help. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all. I have a problem with the headphones. When listening music or when I'm on a call or anything there is a crackling/static like noise and the sound that comes from the headphones is all distorted. It's goes away after reboot but after a while it comes back.
I have tried everything. I have tried all of the roms, aosp and tw, installed all kind of audio mods and apps, changed headphones (i don't have the original Samsung headphones but all of the headphones that i have are working ok on s2 and s3 that i have home), tried changing the processor clock and changing the governor and nothin helped.
With another words i tried everything that i find out about the problem on Internet and xda and im afraid there is no more solutions.
So please if anyone has had a similar problem, please respond.
Thanks.

I've had similar problems on my old HTC desire v and the service center employee said that it was due to rough handling
Maybe your headphone slot is damaged try contacting Samsung Service centre

Well the warranty is long gone for this phone, and also i have been flashing the phone for a long 2 years, and tripping the Knox for about 30 times.. So they only say it's my fault because of all the flashing..
I'll try replacing the headphones slot, but it will be my last solution.
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else?

After experimenting with several roms, i noticed that it happens always when I'm using some kind of audio mod, viper or boefla etc. Also it happens on all roms including tw roms. The annoying sound is gone only on stock tw rom with stock kernel.
Also it is gone on Ivan's unofficial cm 12.
Hope it helps someone.

no sound on call with the new UVLH1

i'm sorry but anyone noticed the issue of the new UVLH1 update or i'm the only one? when i make a call i have no sound on the phone neither to know that i'm connected with the other side nor to hear him?? even if it's not all the time but it's annoying sometimes to make 3 or 4 call to have one!! anyone have the same issue or a solution please?? i'm on UVLH1 rooted
Might be a bad install. Try wipe cache and fix permissions
That will do. If not reinstall and so the wipe again

I had this problem when using my Plantronics Voyager Pro. To fix it I wiped data from all system apps involving blue tooth.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
still nothing
i tried almost every thing, i tried to wipe cash, to do a factory reset, to reinstall the rom, still the same problem
This problem happened again for me as well, but only on cdma. Try switching your phone to gsm only and see if it functions. That is what seemed to fix mine. (I know, not really a fix. I am just curious if the problem is a bug in the new radio.)

im haveing the same prob as well. it takes 3-4 times b4 the call will work and the same on incoming as well..talked to tmo and well waiting on them to send me replacement its on back order. on a side note i had this prob on a rooted device running uvlh1
That post perfectly describes my device. Now, try going to Wireless Network settings and select Gsm only and see if it stops hanging on connect.

i prefer not to do that, i'll lose my fast connection, i prefer to downgrade to 4.0.3 rather than to do that, but only i'm worried if that will happen to me again when i do that
I just hoped you might try it to see if it was a viable workaround.

Try a different radio towle has a mirrors thread in the stickies somewhere in the tmo sgsii forums. I think most of them have the RIL removed but check to be sure.

I found LH1 to be a superior data radio, but with poor call performance.
These being *phones*, I flashed back to the LE1 radio.

Same problem. I get sms from places where there was no reception before but call quality sucks. some of my friends couldn't hear me aside from the no sound calls.
Might revert back to LE. Using TDJ's cm10 rom.

I've noticed the same problem, but I can deal with it, as I text/surf more than I call. It usually fixes itself on the second attempt of a phone call for me, though. Don't wanna downgrade radio since I love my ROM.

And how do you just flash the LE1 only? is this considered Rooting?

You need a custom recovery and you need to know how to use it (the recovery you have).
Again, towle has a sticky with mirrors MANY helpful downloads. a flashable zip of uvle1 radio was in it the last time I checked.
If you don't know how to check if a flashable radio has a ril then flash the radio, THEN your ROM. Custom ROMs tend to have custom rils and it is best not to overwrite them.
----
As an end note, I'm using lh1 and have been on every ROM I've used (tried too many to remember), not everyone has issues; it may depend on the area you are in.

I agree!!!!
I just Re-flashed both my phones to GINGERBREAD 2.3.6 UVLDE That I got from Here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=4798 using the ODIN software and a great walk though found Here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-t-mobile/628449-how-odin-any-stock-rom.html
So far, we haven't had any calling issues as of yet....Plus, the phone is super fast again!! I noticed that with ICS on the phone, and Factory Reset with nothing on it, My RAM was tipping between 500-600 MB of use!! and now that we are back to Gingerbread, it's at 295-340MB....Which is a HUGE difference!!!!!
Let's hope, that maybe it might be defective SIM cards or chips like you said, but I am also tired of wiping these phones and starting all over again!!! I think Im gonna stay with GB for now......It's woking as intended anyway...
I'm having this issue where when i make or receive a call at times there is no sound and either party cannot hear. This happened to me on GB too. After monitoring it for a long time, i figured that it only happens when inside home where i get poor reception and not outside or places with good reception.
When i'm at home i usually get 1-2 bars of signal. Often, when i get a call and i don't get any sound, i look at the signal strength and it is at 4 bars but as the call disconnects it drops back to 2 and then if i make or receive the call then it goes fine.
I searched around the net i see this issue is with S3 users too, when they have poor reception they do not get any sound on call. I'm thinking that it has to do something with the radio hardware or holding reception in low reception areas.

In call mic issues?

Anyone getting issues where when in a call the other party has issues hearing you clearly like your covering up the mic or something? Seems many can't hear me well, even with good signal etc. I thought I had a buggy mic but I tried a voice recording app and it captured my voice very good, even from a distance away. Could it be an issue maybe with a custom rom with recording option enabled? really hoping my note 2 ain't defected since here in Canada Samsung provides no warranty for the N7100 :banghead:

Sh1t I thought my friend was the only unlucky one to get defective device now its global DAME !!!!... he had the same problem with his note 2 had it replaced.. its worth a mention he tried almost everything like 3 or 4 times factory reset, flashed almost all N7100 firmware via odin amd 3rd party dailer didn't work.. SORRY mate

Seems not to happen every time though that's the weird part. I your friend got his exchanged? I assume he's in euro then

How Strange .... well I guess the good news is your mic works and your software is messed up you can always flash a custom rom ... well nope we both live in India we don't have contracts like in the U.S.. we only get the internationals paying the full price they'll have it replaced in a sec ... OH yeah forget to mention this he tried using his headset.. he can hear the call connect but when someone picks up it doesn't work... it has something too do with Phone utility I guess..

[Q] Very weak signal on Note II. Radio Help?

Hey XDA Fam bam!
I have the T-mobile branded Note II and i'm experiencing the following problem:
Very weak signal.
Here's a little background. I rooted the phone and installed pmtr3 first V1 Rom and everything was perfect.
Then played around with other roms too and then the signal went every weak.
Then when I went back to pmtr3's first rom my signal did not improve. I would lose connection
everywhere. I replaced my tmo sim card, but I still experience this problem. I also went back to my stock nandroid backup, but it still did not help my signal problem.
Is there some sort of radio or modem I can flash? Am I the only one experiencing this problem?
I'm thinking it can be a hardware problem, but Idk. What input do you have my XDA fam bam?

Most problems FROM xda members devices are caused by user error. E.G. wrong roms. Not reading before doing stuff and trying to do too much. Its all over the forums. Maybe you havent read the same forum im talking about. Im talking about xda developers.
P.s. please no more pm's you are killing me. I try to read them but I just cant make it through some of them. I have to delete them.

Uh oh, well just in case, I saved them here:

Well I waited in line for an hour at my tmo store and got a new sim card as they claimed that would solve the data issue. But I also made them process an exchange. So I should have my new one tuesday. No more rooting until the problems solved.

[Q] Earpiece not working, volume tweaking!

Well I noticed that my earpiece quit working on the N2 today and my volume goes down all on its own... any ideas? It was dropped bu only like 18". Its taken many falls in the past with no problems...
[EDIT]
SO, I am not so sure its a fall thing... It fell at about 2pm and I have made and received calls SINCE then just fine... It's degenerative. Examples: First, I could not hear out of the handset earpiece... but people could hear me. Now, a few hours later, they can also NOT hear me which indicates the phones mic is not working... IF I turn on Speaker Phone, it works fine and I can communicate just great with anyone/everyone... also works with my car hooked up to Bluetooth just fine... So, could the Tweaked ROM I am running be screwing with something? Should I just try to flash another ROM and see what happens? I have already tried the last modem and the newest modem, both which had no effect on the situation... Any info would be greatly appreciated!
I would try another ROM to see because I am having somewhat similar issues with no drops at all. I had this in TOUCHWIZ and it was bad. But when I switched to PAC-rom I have different volume issues. Certain (newer I believe) headphones play either double out the phones as well as my integrated speaker and once I had the volume phreak out going up and down inadvertently.
I just love my ROM sooo much that I am dealing with it for now. PAC-rom 4.3 JB nightly updates on Galaxy note 2.

Speakers making a clicking sound

First when got the phone thought was because the camera cause that's what I tried first
but nopes
now every single sound that plays there's a clicking sound.
Is there anyway to solve this?
This phone belongs to my cuz, and my friend got hers the same time but was a ATT model and no sound. But I'm guessing it's maybe hardware, hoping it's not

Are you completely stock and within the return period?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
A lot of people have been having this issue especially on 4.4. Some say its 4.4's fault but I think its a hardware issue...make sure you're completely stock and try a factory reset after backing everything up...if that doesn't help its a hardware issue and Verizon will replace it no problem. If its not within the 14 day new return policy you're going to get a refurbished phone back but either way they'll definitely send you a new one.

For the hell of it, have you turned off "BEATS" to see if the the clicking continues? If it stops, then it's a software problem. If it doesn't then it's most likely hardware. Regardless, returning the phone sounds like the best bet.
