Curious, could my radio version make it so someone with the same phone not rooted, same network is getting unsupporded media type message. I can receive mms messages from him. I am using the gingerbread Rom supernova. He is froyo unrooted, is that the issue perhaps. I am frustrated to hell, just want to know why I can't send pics to anyone.

I have a friend who gets the unsupported media file type whenever he receives a message from a Samsung phone. and it's only one way. the samsung phones can receive MMS from the desire.
Tested so far:
HTC Desire -> HTC Desire works
Motorola Atrix -> HTC Desire works
desire -> atrix works
desire -> samsung galaxy s i9000 works
samsung galaxy s i9000 -> desire DOES NOT WORK
desire - > galaxy s 2 works
galaxy s 2 -> desire does not work
iphone 4 -> desire works
desire -> iphone 4 works
So from this what I think is happening is that the way the samsung phones are encoding, or whatever it may the picture or video file, is not working on the desire. even the simplest single picture file does not work.
Desire is on gingerbread stock.
any idea whats happening?
Hello, I'm running latest Runnymede port 4.0.3 by Sebastian. How can I shut that "NO SIM INSERTED" nag in lock screen? Tried in Rcmix settings as proposed but no luck, radio turns down but screen stays and upon reboot radio is on again. Maybe something I can modify in build.prop? Thanks for any help.

I have recently flashed the no sense version of ARHD. Is there a way to be able to answer a phone call directly without having to unlock the lockscreen and enter my pin? I keep missing calls because of it.

This is a common problem with AOSP and occurs also on the Sensation at least that I know of.
Until there is a fix for it for the One X then your only other option is to download something like Full Screen Caller ID from the Play Store. This gives you the option to answer or decline the call before unlocking the device. Only thing is though free version has ads on the caller display so the paid version may be worth considering.
I have problem with swipe to clear it does not work, i don't see network carrier and on lockscreen same. Someone have this problem ?

I want to turn my old desire into a media play for my daugher, but dont want her to be able to make calls or acadenlt call the fuzz.
is there a ROM that currently dose this ?

You could just get a rom, uninstall the phone app and messaging app, put it in airplane mode, and, voila, a media player.

will that disable the emergency calls as well ?
put what if they change it out of airplane mode ? is there a way to lock it into airplane mode only ??
I think that if you uninstall the phone app, signal will be permanently lost. Not sure though. Try it and see.
What about just not putting a sim in it..? Airplane mode should also work.. I guess..
Wouldn't it be possible to strip down a rom, and only let a media player app on it? That way, it'll be the only app opened, so it would be a media player only.

The phone should work just fine with no sim card in it and also delete browser.apk from system/app (then wifi would be pretty useless)

but with out a sim you can still make emergency calls. i want to be able to disable this as well !!

Delete the phone app from system/app then ul have no dial pad
