[Q] No HDMI signal on certain TVs - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi there I'm having an issue with my ouya. Not sure. If it is since an upgrade or what but on certain TVs in my house I can't get a HDMI signal. I have one ouya that works perfectly on all my TVs. I have used the same cable for this OUYA but I can't get a signal on my Samsung TV. I can get a picture on both my sharp TVs. I can't get a picture on my Panasonic TV either. I've tried everything simple. Does anyone have any ideas. I did try to root it but got a app install error and it was not installed. I've tried a restore etc.

I have the same problem. Some tvs works other not... I dont know why. I tried cyanogen Rom, stock Rom and some mods but always failed...

I had an issue with an android stick. SO I used it on a monitor were it worked and changed the display resolution/settings to something I thought is more appropriate or less aggressive. It than work on my TV and I could even increase the resolution and frequency again.

Incorrect Netflix aspect ratio with HDMI adapter on a HDTV

Why do I get 4:3 screen aspect ratio (with black borders on the sides) on my HDTV (capable of full 1080 16:9 HD) when using a HDMI adapter and the Netflix official app?
Also, I can't get the subtitles to be shown on the TV, even though they are shown along with the playback options on the droid's screen.
I'm certain it's not the adapter, but maybe some intentional limitation on the app. Has anyone tried this on a different device, app, ROM or situation?
By the way, I'm running stock ROM on Jely Bean 4.1
Is it the 11pin adapter? If not might be your issue.. also do other apps behave similarly?

I noticed the same thing. It only happens on this device, the GS3 via MHL. I had a Motorla Photon 4G from Sprint that I would connect via micro HDMI, never had this problem. I even did it on my old Evo 4G with the HDMI hack, never had a problem. I currently use my ASUS TF201 (Prime) and the aspect, functions, etc, all work perfectly.
My theory is that there is a difference between just mirroring what is on your phone, and actually utilizing something in Android called videoview. I think the Netflix app detects it's connected via MHL, and switches to videoview. Older devices like the Evo 4G would only display content over HDMI via video view. I never tested netflix on that without the hack.
I couldn't get it to change. I finally just accepted I had to use my tablet.
This is the only app I know that does that (only mirroring the video instead of the complete phone screen).
Everything else works just fine.
Lol we are talking about netflix here of course its far from perfect, up until now they cant even fix their own android app which constantly freezes and has playback issues, netflix in general is going downhill. They only update new movies once every 6 months.

Allcast share dongle not connecting to 10.1 2014 edition

I am trying to use my Samsung allcast share dongle with the new tablet, it shows the dongle, it shows connected on the tablet, but before the image shows up on the screen it disconnects. When I first connected the tablet with the dongle it updated the firmware, but I still cannot get it to work, any suggestions?

Same issue.
I've tried changing the display density and size (wm density 150; wm size 1280x800) to match my 10.1 2012 to no avail. The 2012 works, as do my S4 and S3.
On default resolution and density, the 2014 connects, I get a green, vertical line on the far right of the display, and then I disconnect. At reduced density/resolution, I disconnect but get no green line. I am trying to connect to an Acer P1273 projector that has a max resolution of 1920×1200. No joy at all.
The dongle works with my 2014 on other output devices, just not this projector, so far.
If you crack the case, please let me know, too!
Good Luck!

I've no problem with my P605, but sometime I've to try to connect several times because it often fails.
When finally the connection begin everything work perfectly for all the time.
P.S.: I've never seen a 1080p connection with my dongle (even connecting with my S3 or S4). I see always 720p connections.
There is an update for the allshare cast dongle. I purchased 2 of them for my job to work with some demo tvs we got from Samsung. I was getting frequent disconnects and when I met up with our Samsung solutions architect yesterday I asked him about the disconnect problem, he pushed out an update that fixed the problem. Let me see if I can get that apk. He said it would auto update when you connect your device, but that NEVER happened to me. I'll contact him tonight and just tell him I have one at home with the same problem.

How did you change pixel density / resolution on the note 10.1 - 14 ? root needed?

Root is needed, yes.
Once rooted, open a terminal and assume root with su -. Next, use the wm commands to make the changes: wm size widthxheight; wm density density.
You may have to restart to get things to look clean again. As always, backup first.
Resetting is a matter of assuming root and entering wm size reset; wm density reset.
Mine works fine, I have the P605 though....
I'm using SM-P600 and it worked until I flashed CleanRom. Hope Triangle Away is working soon with this device.
What you could try is to long press on your Dongle's Name and choose "Connect using PIN". A pin will now be shown on your TV. Use this pin to connect your device to your Dongle. Got the same issue as you did but this worked for me.

[Q] Amazon Prime does not work after manual fw upgrade

Prime movies and TV shows do not load after manually upgrading to fw 51.1.1.0_user_511070220. I have root and nothing is being blocked on my router. Streaming with prime worked fine on fw 51.1.0.2_user_510058520. Oddly enough, the trailers will play fine but not the actual movie.
Anyone have similar problems?
Edit: I performed a factory reset and reinstalled everything to no avail.
Check to be sure your system has a correct timestamp? I had some really weird stuff happen earlier today when I wasn't able to get NTP at boot up.
Bizarre fix
So I replaced the hdmi cable and all is well again. Apparently the cable was bad only when trying to play prime movie and tv streams. It worked fine with all xbmc stuff and everything else like games and apps. Maybe the hdmi cable is old 1.2 and not 1.4. At any rate, I'm glad it wasn't defective hardware.

Howt cast N5x to TV

Has anyone tried to cast their Nexus 5x to the TV without using any kind of electronic device like chromecast and etc. but by just using the phone itself? If so, can someone help me out. I've tried many ways but it seems like my phone doesn't recognize my LED TV. It always says "No nearby devices were found".
Sorry for double posting. Please delete this. Thanks!
it happen only Nougat when i was on marshmallow its works fineT^T
Mine is the same, worked in my Nexus 4 but Google seem to have disabled it in the 5X and it's a pain as we used to show photos on the TV screen instead of passing g around my phone. I've yet to find a solution
I tried miracast and it doesn't work to me either ..
So +1
Google killed Miracast in Android N.

Since the casting function is specifically made for chrome cast it won't work without it.
On the bright side, a chrome cast device is really cheap and will work with any device that can run chrome or chromium.
Just having a LED TV doesn't mean anything, is it a smart TV and if so what OS is it running?

I have a problem with my Fire TV Stick 2 not connecting to wifi at all and bluetooth

I have tried several ways to connect to wifi and none of the networks even show up. Bluetooth works like normal but it won't even pair my Fire TV remote. I've tried about 5 remotes with new batteries and nothing. The blue light doesn't even show up on them, I took apart the Fire TV Stick to see what was causing the problem and nothing is shorted out at all. I may consider buying a new Fire TV Stick due to this one being defective.

Just curious, have you tried the 5 remotes also with the cm12.1 rom for tank?
Yep
Yep I did, and it still won't respond to anything.... Adb works still, just unable to resolve this issue..... I recently wiped /system, /data, etc in TWRP and I flashed the 12.1 rom next thing I noticed issues with wifi and bluetooth both on my backup of my firestick with everything unmodified, still has the same issue for some reason like the 12.1 rom. It may be something outside of the /system. I deleted the wpa file located under wifi and that didn't work.
Ok I looked at /
I looked at / and noticed it didn't have the file ini.wifi.rc and other files. I have no clue if this is what's causing the problem
