Rooted 4.4.4. Update to 5.0.1? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi All,
I'm currently rooted on 4.4.4 and use Xposed modules. I just received the OTA notification for 5.0.1. Wondering if I just need to disable the Xposed, then take OTA to 5.0.1. I'm using the stock recovery.
Big questions are, is Xposed ready for Lollipop? if not, are there alternatives so I can continue to use the modules.
Also, I looked for rooting instructions for 5.0.1, but couldn't find anything.
Thanks for any info provided.

Xposed is not ready for Lollipop. If it is important to you, skip the update for now. If it is not that important, disabling Xposed should be enough(you may need to un-root as well).
Rooting should be the same as it has always been. Install the latest recovery of choice and flash the newest SuperSU zip.

Rooting: Download autoroot from chainfire.
I think xposed modifies system files doesn't it? Hence I think ota would fail.

I installed with exposed active and rooted. OTA 5.0.1 installed just fine. I will be flashing back to 4.4.4 tonight if I can. Bluetooth is awful and I am sick of fighting it. Battery life is pretty bad as well. 4.4.4 was working great.

Unrooting LG G2

Hi everyone, I have a stock rooted Sprint LG G2 and no custom recovery with the only modifications being Xposed framework and modules. My question is if I can take the upcoming ZVD update by removing Xposed framework and modules and then unrooting using Supersu. Thanks
if nothing else is changed, you should be able to, however, i would say that update is at least a few weeks away at the minimum. (but maybe im wrong)
So can anyone confirm this now that ZVD is here. I am rooted and have stock recovery. The only change I did was adding Xposed framework and some modules. Can I just uninstall framework and all modules than unroot using SuperSU? Then can I take the update and root again. Thanks in advance.
I was able to reroot after the update

Did you unroot using SuperSU first?

Rooting sm-p605 with most recent xxudob1 FW update?

Everywhere I look for guides and files all say they are for previous firmware revisions
I have attached a screenshot of my device info
Any help clarifying this would be greatly appreciated, trying to root tonight if I can without bricking.

Sorry for that..
That will work with the latest OTA update? Will I be able to return to stock recovery or should I just go with twrp? I've been waiting for lollipop on my devices OTA updates but now I want to root to debloat and get ex sd access back.

Reading that through bit more it seems like he is downgrading to root? All the firmwares he is talking about are before this most recent update less than 30 days ago.

Yes, downgrade->root->update (obviously the step 5 is to be used with newer kernel as you can read on important note) !
Thrust me, safe and clean
If you root using twrp with the tool available you'll end up with an old kernel (and from another tablet) with a malfunction pen
I just got a Verizon unit (had WiFi only previously). I am currently on build # KOT49H P605VVRUCNC2, can I root straight away from here or do I need to change versions first?
This is the tool to make root :
https://towelroot.com
Although it works with kernel's made until june last year, try it.
Works on mine with NK1 and a Nov. 11th kernel.

I haven't tried that because. I think my kernel is after July (but I'm not sure). What will happen if my kernel too late, any harm? Is it possible to downgrade kernel?
I've been out of the root game for a couple of years. I feel lost !

Crap! We were posting at the same time and I missed your reply until just now!
OK. NK1 is the latest verizon - I haven't updated yet because I was afraid it might lock me out of doing anything. I have a couple of questions:
I can just update to NK1 and then do towelroot?
Towelroot is an apk - just sideload and run it?
THANKS!!!!!!

After I updated, I just ran towelroot again. Reinstalled supersu and all was well.
Ran wanam xposed, everything works, no problems.
So did the update unroot you or were you rooted before hand? Word being rooted before the update (vs. me not being rooted beforehand) have any bearing in towelroot success?
I unrooted, updated, then rerooted. Can't update it if it's rooted.
I updated thru kies with a rooted device. Updated fine but I did lose root. I was disappointed to see a November kernel after that and figured towelroot wouldn't work, but it did. Thanks for your help.
I came from a wifi note (sm-p600) and was surprised that the 605 is only officially up to 4.4.2 I think my 600 was at 4.4.4.
I havent flashed a ROM yet...again, I'm rusty and really don't want to get into flashing one then another, then another. Got to decide on that next.
I tried towelroot on my SM-P605 running 4.4.2 (KOT49H.P605XXUCNJ1) and got the error: This phone is not currently supported.
Are there any other options while still not tripping Knox?
If not, is anyone on the same firmware build as me and has successfully rooted using CF Auto Root?

It will trip Knox but I rooted by flashing TWRP then using it to flash the latest SuperSU.zip file, I believe its 2.46, though there is the beta 2.49.
Or you can use the toolkit found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...olkit-unified-android-toolkit-galaxy-t2998214
It too will trip Knox...

Is your device the same as mine and running the same firmware?
Is THIS the TWRP version that you used for yours?

[Q] Lost root after upgrade to 5.1.1 - how do I re-root?

Hi all,
I'm running a Sprint Note 2 (SPH-L900). I finally bit the bullet this week and upgraded from CM 11 to CM 12.1. However in the upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop, I seem to have lost root. I tried reinstalling SuperSU via both apk and by flashing in Philz recovery, but whenever I reopen SuperSU, I get a message that says "The SU binary is missing and SuperSU cannot install it. If you recently upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root. Please consult the forums."
I've looked in the forums, but it seems like the answer that worked for most people is to flash SuperSU from recovery, which I have already done. Do I have to flash a file again through ODIN download mode like I did when I first rooted? If that's the case, can I flash a file which includes CWM on top of Philz that I already have, and will that be compatible with Lollipop?
I'd like some guidance so I don't accidentally brick my phone. Thanks for any guidance in advance!
Well all 5.1.1 roms come rooted. You just have to enable developer options (google it) and allow root for apps. If you want supersu then you need the newest version which only the new twrp has (although I think there is still issues with twrp for our device). I suggest using CyanideL if you like cm. CyanideL can be found under the development section.
FYI there is almost no brick on this device that cannot be recovered from. Flashing roms/recoveries/kernels are no real worries.

Thanks. I forgot about developer options; did that and set option to all Root Access for Apps only, but my apps still don't have root. Any other ideas?

is there any way to downgrade my Note 4 to KK???

thanksss for reading
Why u want downgrade to kk???
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
In all honesty, kk has better auto screen brightness, and quite configurable on cm11. Only reason I flash go back to kk after 5mins of any 5.0 base rom
Lollipop sucks.

Many many many reason. Ex: suck battery life, xposed doesnt work prefect( very important 2 me)...
I dont think u can downgrade as ur bootloader will now be upgraded.. but i think only way for you is if only if someone has created a zip version of 4.4 stock firmware which can be flashed via custom recovery. [emoji14]

What bootloader version do you have? How did you upgrade to Lollipop 5.1.1, did you flash txdbs's OB7 bootloader / OG5 ROM combo before flashing Hybrid? You can use Galaxy Tools or Synapse to see which bootloader you're on.
If you flashed the OG5 tar or took an OTA to 5.1.1, then there is no way back to 4.4 KK.

i found something on playstore but i wonder that it's correct???
Whoops, synapse won't work unless you have a kernel that supports it. Galaxy Tools is by idone and is no longer in the Play store, so you would have to Google search it. Edit: Phone Info Samsung in the Play store will tell you which bootloader you're on.
How did you upgrade to 5.1.1? Unless you specifically flashed txdbs's OB7 bootloader/OG5 ROM (in the Android Development section), chances are very low that you are on an OB7 bootloader or earlier, which means you are stuck on Lollipop.

hixx. phone info SS show my bootloader is OG5
i bought this used phone from my friends. it's already on 5.1.1 f..... Lollipop
Can i have a chance to downgrade to 5.0.1??? Or i stuck @ 5.1.1?
I think you are stuck on 5.1.1. But why would you want to go to 5.0.1? 5.1.1 is far superior - better battery life, less lag, Xposed works great
Hello,
I'm having this same issue with my recently updated Note 4 (Sprint)... Right after the upgrade, I noticed some static in the back speaker (or with audio at all)... It was all fine with 4.4.2 and 5.0.1, is there a recent way around this?

Xposed Framework question

So I am trying to figure out among the many threads how to get Xposed Framework on my LG G3. When I first got the phone I realized it was being worked on and now I decided to see what's been going on and realized all the threads. I've rooted my phone using this method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197, I have tried the one method of getting TWRP on my phone one of those one click apps and it bricked my phone so now I'm back to stock and rooted. Currently my software info is as follows, Android 5.0.1, Build number LRX21Y, Software version D85021q. Could someone just send me the proper links that won't cause a brick again? Thank you. What happened to the good old days of just installing the Xposed APK on a rooted device?!!
For lollipop we have always needed to flash via recovery.
Use flashify to install twrp

Thanks I'll give it a try. Kitkat was easier with it, that's what I'm saying. I miss when it was as easy as it was to install on kitkat, Thanks again!
Since updating to v21a trying to install exposed just leaves my phone stuck on the splash screen. Uninstalling it with the zip file restores my phone to working order. Has anyone else experienced this and know of a fix?
