Forgive me in advance, I am asking this question on behalf of my gf that has an Epic.
Every couple hours she gets a prompt to login to facebook which is becomming very annoying. I have an Evo and have never had this issue but I also use the official facebook app, it appears that the epic has its own facebook app which appears to be the one causing us troubles. Does anyone else have this issue with facebook or am I doing something wrong? It would seem there is a way to stay logged in because if you are constantly signing in it kinda defeats the purpose of widgets.

This isn't going to answer your question but I'm just letting you know I get the same issue. I just either leave it or clear the notification up. Wouldn't mind finding a solution to this as well. Good luck!
I was afraid of that, so its either deal with the constant logins to get everything synced properly in your contacts, messages, etc., or go with something like Pure Messanger Widget and stock facebook app?
yep same issue here, ive learned though it does it only when i check my facebook on the epic
if I leave it alone it doesnt log out
There is a similar post in the General forum, but I had the same issues.
When I experienced the same issues, I was still on the stock version of Facebook.apk. The SNS account kept prompting for me to log in again, with each sync interval.
I tried removing and adding the account again and rebooting in between, yet still the same problem. I finally had upgrade Facebook to the latest update that was the cause of all these login issues for older versions.
The upgrade fixed the problem, but I did find an issue when you use the built-in Facebook contact sync alone it may not carry profile pictures over to SMS. I had to manually add the account, this ended up putting two Facebook sync processes on my phone. The first is for Facebook to actually let you login to the app (just has sync contacts), and the second is the process that will sync both contacts and calendar events again. (the original sync we're used to)
Reference thread
EDIT: I just got the same SNS login prompt again.
I've never had any login problems on the facebook app, but I also don't use the feeds and updates widget.

This only seems to be happening to me more often recently. I swear it's asking me to log in to Facebook & Twitter every hour or so now. When I go to Accounts & Sync I see that there are two accounts (even though I only have one account for each). One Twitter & one Facebook account say there was an error with the syncing process.
I unchecked the sync processes that were having errors. I'll let you know if I keep being asked to log in.
I have this problem too. It says my sync is experiencing errors and its cause it logged me out of Facebook. Once I log back in its fine.

Also i don't have auto sync enabled. I manually refresh them.

I used to have this issue, but I figured out a simple workaround.
I use the FACEBOOK APP to sync and not the adding a Facebook account under the account section in settings. After I deleted the Facebook account there and made a sync with the Facebook App, the annoying prompt went away and hasn't come back since.

After doing this, I bet you don't have your friends profile pictures in the stock SMS application anymore. You also wouldn't have Facebook events in your stock Calendar application.
I have the same problem. Funny thing is my widget works fine gets updates and I can upload a picture from within the widget. If I take a picture, or select one from the gallery, then click Share facebook, it will not upload. started one day last week.
On stock rooted and don't get it hourly or even 2x/day that I can remember, just every morning...sometimes it doesn't make it the first time, usually it re-connects, good til the next morning....
I had the same problem. I had to delete the stock sync and use the FB app's sync option but like mentioned above you lose the profile pics on the stock sms so I downloaded "go sms" and the pictures are back...it beats having to log in every hour for sure.

Same issue here. Facebook app from market works fine but the integrated samsung facebook sync and widget have problems. Ridiculous, samsung needs to fix their software.

I would say it's a Facebook issue. It stopped working properly after the recent Facebook update. It affected all versions of the application, including the Epic's stock version of Facebook.
I do actually. But, no calendar sync.
Sent from the Epic that bites.
I can say that my gf and my brother both have the same issue, only reason i can think Samsung isn't attempting a quick fix is the rumored 2.2 update for the 21st of this month, which will probably have an updated app that fixes the problem. Although as important as facebook is to people I am surprised there is no maintenance release that fixes this,
Same issues here. I was thinking it might have had something to do with networking issues - I usually leave wifi and 4g on all the time. I noticed that I usually get the prompts when I leave home in the morning (go out of range of my house's wifi) and when 4g disconnects and reconnects in spotty 4g areas. I was wondering if maybe the session expires when you switch networks. Same thing would happen on my laptop when I would bring it from home to work or a coffee shop. FB might recognize that the connection is different. Meh, just a theory I thought I'd throw out there.
I'm asking this because after the Sony/SOE hacking (which I am somewhat affected by), it's got me thinking.
There are some online services that I've been trying to remove myself form (since before that happened), and companies make it virtually impossible in some cases to get themselves removed from these services.
The biggest example is Facebook. It's literally impossible to remove yourself from facebook. It gives you no decent way to see a list of Pages you have "Liked" and there is no way to remove all of your posts from the site.
Twitter makes this easy... Foursquare makes this easy. Loopt makes this easy...
But it seems companies that are big into Advertising make it as hard as possible for you to decouple yourself form them.
Slacker and Pandora have no such option to remove yourself from those sites after you create your account (and it's impossible to purge your personal information from them unless yo go through hoops and bounds to do so). Contrarily, Last.FM makes it as easy as a button click and some confirmations.
Yahoo! and Google make it easy to delete accounts, but Windows Live basically leaves the account sitting there for something like 4-6 months before it's deleted...
Provided there are decent confirmations, I think any online services should allow any user who willingly signed up for it to willingly walk away from it, and take their personal data and information with them. It seems like a huge power grab by the industry to lock users into them and own our information...
I've already written my Congressman and Senator following an issue with AOL where it took literally weeks of constant phones calls for them to delete my old accounts that I haven't used in forever. Finally they agreed to "waive" the "we don't delete accounts" rule because I was in the military for years following the account creation and they had it on record since I canceled my AOL service that I was doing so because I was being deployed back then...
What do people think. Do you think it's cool that companies expect to own our information after we sign up for their services and make it extremely difficult if not outright impossible to decouple ourselves from them?
Or do you want to be denied a job (or admissions into a university) because you posted something tasteless or inflamatory on facebook one night? (yes, universitiy admissions are starting to check social networks)?
For the past 3 months or so I've been trying to close down all these unneeded services that I have subscribed to in the past, and have been met with several brick walls.
It's even impossible to delete accounts on forums these days, which is uber laughable as well...
I'm thinking about quitting facebook, but getting all my stuff off of there is looking like an impossible task...
EDIT: Pandora finally got around to deleting my account... But I did send them like 5 emails today before they got around to it at 10:50 PM (first contacted them like 2 months ago).
I agree with you that all services you willingly sign up for should be as easy to leave as they were to join, it makes sense.
I'm on Facebook, several tech forums, I use several cloud based services (mail etc.) and I try not to post too many things that would make me look bad.
Facebook has by far been the most problematic to get off, you can deactivate your account but not really remove it.
/J
that's a funny question. It's not ha ha funny but it's funny to jump through those hoops. As far as information shared, on social networking, I know its vitally important to keep professionalism especially in clinical psychology. Personally, if my posts aren't related to tech or anime, I don't post it on social networking. I call a person, I write an angry email or something, but rarely do I kvetch on a social networking platform. Because it's a bad idea...
I mean I have opened a second fb account and surprisingly my first FB is still open. It doesn't bother me because it is "dead" for all intents and purposes. Honestly I just really don't mind it personally, but again that's just me. I'm not the type to post inflammatory material. I guess its different strokes.
However, I do agree, it should be easy to delete your own account. But I have to correct you on yahoo specifically. You can recover the account if its deleted. It's rather easy and I've done it multiple times. I think after a year (for yahoo specifically) then its gone. But otherwise, nope it's still there.
Yahoo! gave me an instant way to delete my account hte last time I did it. It was instant, with no recovery. I checked immediately afterwards when I did it and there was no way to recover the account. Perhaps that is a new development.
Both Yahoo! and Google allow you instant account deletion (or did, IRT the former). Microsoft keeps the accounts for something like 120 days (used to be 45, then 60, etc.) and AOL seemingly keeps them forever because the account I had to go through the run-around to delete hadn't been used for years (almost a decade), but had a ton of personal information on it that I couldn't change because I didn't remember an old secret answer so I couldn't even log in to get it off there (I used to have AOL internet access).
I went back and deleted almost all of my posts on Facebook. It took over 6 hours because you have to personally track down every comment you've made on the site (including those on walls of people no longer on your friend's list). This is intentionally convoluded compared to Twitter, where all of your tweets and retweets are there in a list and it took like 5 minutes to delete them...
As much as I despise Facebook's practice of making accounts hard to delete I've been wondering for a while if it is a result of a fragile database structure they are using. N8ter 's description of having to manually remove comments all over the place makes me wonder if Facebook's database structure has some sort of vulnerability to having data scattered in so many places removed.
Granted, it's prolly more likely they make it difficult because they can.
What do you mean, "you people"?
Nice one
Suppose I.walked right into that

So... let me get this straight,
You signed on to privately owned websites, handed over private information/made incriminating posts (in any capacity)... and now you're complaining about it?
In boardroom meetings in those companies, people like you are punchlines.
Nothing on the internet is private. Let me repeat that; nothing on the internet is private.
Learn it, know it, love it.
I think your missing the point.
Facebook makes it almost impossible for people to leave after they've used the service a lot. You have to track down every comment and wall post and delete them one by one, among other things before they will delete your account.
Blacker flat out refuses to delete accounts even after several emails. They don't consider email private information... ... ...
Other services just make it impossible. Google voice makes it impossible ti remove the service or your phone number. Aol generally flat out refuses to delete accounts. Windows live wants your info to stay there for six months.
Its not about it not being private, its about me not having a choice in whether or not my personal info sits on their server.
Having a ton of extra accounts increases spam email, among other things...
Hope that cleared up my stance a bit...

honestly, I know what you mean. Its very annoying and frustrating. But just take it all as a lesson that these are all private companies. Neither you or I have any right to an expectation of privacy. Its a hard truth to face. My Facebook profile is as dry as a bone. I never post or submit any info I wouldn't be comfortable with the whole world knowing.
Until there is a government-run social networking platform, just understand that.

No. That's only to download your pictures, videos, and stuff like that if you want a hard copy or to put it on another social network/profile.
For example, if you want to put all your facebook stuff on your Windows Live Profile, but they don't exist on your computer/smartphone anymore...
Also, that won't remove the ridiculous amount of manual labor involved in tracking down every comment/wall post and deleting them one by one...
All that information is trivially seen by clicking on "Profile" at the Facebook homepage. It shows all your activity. But you should be able to remove it by clicking on the X. Right now, you have to go to every page, track that comment down (sometimes in a sea of 1k+ comments), and manually delete it. Some of those comment feeds are so damn large, that they can crash some users' browsers or slow them to a crawl.

No.
Your email accounts could have been hacked, or spoofed.
As far as viruses on your phone go, there are none and there is no way it was compromised on that device, so it would be your computer or in the webmail itself.
I would change the passwords to both email accounts, and go look in your sent folders to see if you've been infected with a spam bot. If a bunch of things have been getting sent from your accounts there's your issue.
I had have gotten the same message. I have neve checked my email on a computer since getting the Samsung Focus and now the HTC Titan. I also notice IE gets hijacked when I went to certain websites. The page would load then the phone would start playing a video. Video I've never selected. Now when I go to some sites it starts to download a file. Luckily it says file type isn't support. I have done two factory resets and Ihave gotten the email warning four times.

One thing too many people don't realize is that you should never use public wifi. Anyone sharing it with you on a laptop or android device can compromise your gmail, facebook, twitter, etc. easily. Regardless of what platform you're using.
Your best bet is to scan your PC thoroughly (again) with an AV and malwarebytes just to make sure there's nothing on there, and then reset all of your passwords. You're already using the AV tools I would recommend though so I doubt it's your PC. A WM virus is possible since there's not a piece of electronics that exists which is 100% secure, but, extremely unlikely.

You're being phished. Numbskulls send out similar "warnings" about bank, credit card, and anything you may care about to try and glean all the info they can from you.
Some suggest you reset passwords, and provide a malicious website link to do so.
Or, you have one of the first of many wp7 virus.
false alarm maybe
Mine wasn't phished. I've had to reset my Gmail three times, never had to before I got a WP. If can get a hold of video camera I'll record what happens to my phone

I think it's a common error of the host network .
fewer people using that type of mindless nonsensical BS is beneficial to society as a whole, however, so you may consider halting your attempt to login
Thanks y'all. Thought hard reset will solve the problem but still not able to login after hard reset...regret I even did it coz I've lost important lab files....oh my!

That is why I would recommend Mehdoh [or our twitter client - TwiDeep]. Have heard good things about Carbon as well.
You should try out Rowi or Carbon. They are both excellent twitter client for Windows Phone.
The problem I'm facing is that, no twitter app seems to work now on my phone. They all give me twitter authorization error. Went to the site to make some changes but still. Now I think it's a general problem coz all my friends are experiencing the same thing. Contacted twitter but they are not aware of any situation. All apps that require twitter authorization are not working and I'm now frustrated. Can it be a geolocation services in my region.

Kenzibit, had this anoying problem here and what i discover is that once u signed with your Live ID and then add Twitter account from settings, this account become linked to your ID and then this error starts cause you arew already signed in twitter and then the official app understand that and cant sign u account.
What i had to do is signed first with other ID that i had that i use only for business so no contacts no Twitter,Facebook nothing linked to this account than i download Twitter and worked since. Try this.
Ok thanks but this means, I have to hard reset again because WP does not allow signing out of you live ID, not even delete although you can delete all other accounts (gmail, yahoo, outlook etc). One I have signed in with this Live ID, I can't sign out untill hard reset....something I really don't wanna do beacuse I have a lot of unbacked up files, information and settings. I have to be ready before I do this. Any suggestions before I try this step?

Wow...I went to my windows live ID and removed all associated social networks and apps and hard reset again (for the 8th time and now fear phone might start acting funny). Installed twitter app first, loged in and hurray i'm in.
Now fear if it will stop working again after adding all the removed apps and social networks. This wasn't so before why is it happening to me now.
Anyways thanks for your suggestion becuase it really worked.
All the best in what you do.
Hello,
Ever since I've got the Galaxy Nexus, I've been unable to remove the frequently called list that is auto generated when a contact is called, emailed or texted.
I've tried all the applications in the Market like Quick App Manager, Frequently Called Remover, History Eraser, etc., but none seem to work.
So, to remove the list I have to go to settings-applications-all applications and clear data of contact storage and re-sync. This gets the job done but it is quite cumbersome.
Please let me know if it is at all possible to remove the frequently called in Android 4.0 upwards or not, I was able to do it when I was using the Nexus S with Gingerbread.
Thanks.
The easiest solution is to not have a reason to hide it in the first place. Lol.
Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was actually correct. It tends to put frequently called people as people you might only contact once. The people you actually frequently contact, don't even bloody show up in the list lmao.
Ha-ha true but my requirements are not stemming from an intent to conceal the list; instead my obsessive compulsion compels me to keep things as pristine as possible.
You won't believe this but I clear the data of applications like Market, Browser, News Apps, etc., so that I get a fresh start every time. I love the default twitter client for this reason, even after a clear data cycle it retains my login credentials, thus saving me time and effort..
