i bought a new Amazon Fire TV from Staples, hooked it up, and nothing shows on the TV screen. There is no welcome or anything. I have re-installed the box several times. The HDMI cable is hooked into HDMI 2 and the tv is set to hdmi 2. I have unplugged the system several times. I have turned the tv on and off several times. The white light on the box is fading in and out. I cannot get anything to appear on the screen. I have replaced batteries in the new remote. Nothing is working. Since I bought it from Staples do I have to pre-register it somehow??? I have searched all the forums I can find and no one else seems to have this problem. Help?? Thanks.

Try a different hdmi cable. You don't have to register with anyone when you get the firetv. In my experience of building firetv's for friends (about 10 of them), one of them was indeed defective where the remote would loose its pairing in about 10 seconds. I'd say try another cable or ask for an exchange.

I have read plenty of people who have the same problem. When I plug in the phone to the tv via hdmi the phone freezes and resets. I have not found a solution for this. It seems like it is really hit and miss. Any help?
anyone? please?
I'm not sure if this helps but I had the same issue and switched to another HDMI port on my TV and it worked flawlessly.. I notice that the port i was trying to use shows up on the TV menu as HDMI/DVI for some reason even though it is clearly NOT a DVI port
Your cable is probably bad. Mine started to freeze up after working fine for two weeks. I checked the cable and the cord was coming apart at the top by the full hdmi connector.
Two new monoprice cables I got since have been flawless. The first was an amzer from ebay.
Hello.
I have 47" Samsung tv (5 years old, 1080p), when I connect SGS3 with MHL adapter, with power adapter plugged in, the tv trying look for a signal and gives up with message "no signal". On the phone I see brief message saying HDMI connected.
When I plugin phone to a DVDR that is also connected to the same TV, phone also shows same message and also offer me a chose to use stereo or surround output with it. However TV still says no signal, but this time it plays sound.
Is there some hardware limitations in affect or I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks.
P.S.
The two different MHL adapters I bought as suggested at several topics on this forum, where people reported it's working for them.
The GS3 requires a newer MHL adapter than the old phones do maybe that's the problem http://www.galaxymhl.com

These are new 11pin adapters, people reported it's working for them...

Hello,
I have an Amazon Fire TV Stick that I would like to use in the car. I have an old AT&T 4G LTE Elevate hotspot as well and my head unit is a Pioneer NEX-4000 which has HDMI, 2 USB ports, etc.
One of the USB ports goes to my phone to charge it in its mount. I have the other going to a 4 port Netgear self-powered usb-hub which has the wifi hotspot and the Fire Tv STick plugged into it. Obviously the Fire TV stick is also plugged into the HDMI.
To not drain my car battery, I have taken the battery out of the 4G LTE Elevate Hotspot and just run it on USB. That way when I shut the car off it turns off, as well as the Fire TV stick. However, I think the USB hub is slightly underpowered to run both. The Amazon Fire TV Stick will never restart, but the LTE Elevate Hotspot does intermittently, sometimes 30 seconds after I start the car, other times not until 5 or 10 minutes later. I was thinking to move the Fire TV Stick off this USB and just plug it directly into the cigarette lighter of the car. If I do that, however, it appears it stays on even when the vehicle is off. Is it safe to assume this will ultimately drain the battery if I leave the car off overnight or for a few days? Or does the Fire TV Stick shut-down automatically so as to preserve the battery.
Your thoughts are appreciated!

Hello, I was curious if the amazon firestick worked in your pioneer nex 4000. Also curious if WiFi is needed to mirror your cellphone. Thanks
Have the family over wanted to watch some shows and with my luck the stick doesn't want to work it shows the amazon screen then shuts off.... Any help on getting this to work
Had the device since November worked perfect up in till today.
First thing comes to mind for me is power supply. Id contact amazon. By any chance are you plugging it into your TV instead of using the include wall adapter?

I had it plugged with the tv's usb hub and worked up in till today so I switched to the power supply outlet and still get the same thing... Even tried different tv and hdmi port. Was there a update for it or anything that bricked it?

This actually just came up the other day on another site. Its highly unlikely an update caused your issue but TV USB ports don't usually provide stable power and you can potentially damage the device over time. But of course I can't say for certain that's your issue. I'd contact amazon. Its not likely anyone here can help because I don't think your issue is software related.
Ok thank you
my tv stick gets how when plugged in but there is no picture. Ideas? I've tried a different hdmi port, different tv and power cable already. I tried a known good fire tv stick and it works using the same setup.
Is there any kind of factory restore? I've tried resetting the video resolution using the remote short cut as well as the factory reset short cut on the remote and nada.
RMA it?
My video sometimes goes out if the HDMI cable isn't seated properly. I assume you've tried to adjust it? I think the HMDI port is soldered on kinda dodgy on mine.
My ftvs was acting up while I was using one t.v.'s usb port to power it up and keep rebooting before reaching fire starter seems no more such issue after I use the bundled usb power adapter
