GPS Fix - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Today I tried to use my LG G3 D855 French that mounts the V10L STOCK the gps, but after 15 minutes there is no connection to the satellites, I read that others have the same problem but no solution, why?

Try to restart your phone and try again...its happened to me to but I restart phone and gps was fix satelites in 5 seconds.

Same thing happens to me occasionally, but I'm hoping there's a better fix than "reboot it" out there.

Try flashing a new modem, i had a problem like this before, and i updated to a new modem and it works perfectly.

Someone found a solution to this issue? Yesterday my G3 was not working even rebooting it. I ran out of patience!

Faster gps changes the GPS.config,LG G3 gps should work as it is.

Except it does not.
On every phone this app speeds up the GPS lock. It's simply needed. Also on the G3.

Great, the TS' problem has been solved, thanks!
Thread can be closed

But how did you fix it?

I have a Canadian G3 -D852.
I initially had concerns with the gps..
I use Gps status toolbox app and then the gps test appand seems to be locking alot faster.
Let these apps help you connect a few time and download the agps data and then see if it helps.

that is strange, must be just me :-(
I have used AOKP and CM9 nightlies and have fast gps locks.. within 5-8 seconds.
However if I am in a building they take longer.
In theory it shouldn't make a difference

Minutes?
I'm on APEX 1.1.3 beta2 w/ leanKernel (3.0.30) and it takes me no more than 10 seconds to get a lock, while in my car with the phone in the MIDDLE by center console.
If I'm out in the open, no more than 4-5 seconds to get a GPS lock on a cloudless day.
I'm located in Toronto, Canada on ROGERS Wireless.
It might be because your phone hasn't had time to download the A-GPS info yet.

Bingo, your the man...updated A-GPS, now locks in seconds...
GPS has always been an issue for me. Easily 3 out of 5 mornings I set my navigation and find that I need to reboot my phone in order to get a GPS lock. Its starting to get on my nerves. Thankfully the reboot doesnt take long. It took me awhile to get my phone unlocked, rooted, and flashed so I havent had much time to dig into this GPS issue. I also kinda hoped this wouldnt be an issue anymore but it is. So whats this A-GPS? How do I update it?
Found it- In case anyone else needs it https://play.google.com/store/apps/...us2&hl=en&rdid=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&rdot=1
Fixed! One more thing I can cross off the list. List has become pretty short lately

Unstable ICS V20c update?

I update to v20c a couple of times, the first time I use machzelet unbrick method using v20c kdz, I had a couple of random reboots and the rom was not rooted, after that I flashed brianlili's rotted v20c images, but I still have the random reboots (but I install a lot of software), I do a factory reset and I don't install any software at all and I will test the stability. Any ideas about the random reboots: could it be setcpu, titanium BK, nobloat or lucky patcher?, any ideas?
Thanks.

All I know is I did the official AT&T ICS Install and it is stable as hell, I haven't had a random reboot or dreaded HoNo/CM boot loop at all.
The only thing I miss is the fact that this is not rootable at this time. If and when this does I will root and stick with stock rom and kernel as this has been the stablest my phone has ever been!

I upgraded mine from stock unrooted gb using the lg update tool. I've had one crash/reboot since yesterday when playing a video from gallery using the stock video player. I don't have any of these apps installed. If I keep on having constant random reboots I'll probably try a factory reset and see if it fixes it.
Never saw reboots on 20c, 10f or other unofficial roms.
I strongly recommend doing a factory reset for everyone who upgraded to V10c, even if you don't notice any problems (yet). It's already fixed issues for many people.
My guess is it will fix the reboots.
20c is really unstable for me; even after factory resets. As much as I like UI, I can't be bothered to deal with it and it's terrible battery life.

No more reboots
After the factory reset that I've done yesterday, I had no reboots today, also I recommend reading this google support post:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28819
The first application, that I suspect as responsible for the reboots its app manager.
Other possible cause could be battery managers aka juice defender or easy battery saver.
The post mention about kernel panic error, and that it’s caused by excessive memory use of an application, I notice that facebook app use aproximate 100mb of memory, so I uninstall it and use the web site (with dolphin).
Other thing that I’ve done was disable almost all lg applications using the stock app manager.
I will install some other applications and let you know about the stability on weekend.
Bad news, Reboots reapear.
So it seems official, ICS for LG Nitro it's not stable:

I completely agree, ICS update is running VERY stable with great options to disable a bunch of bloatware. Great options until we get a easy root method
I have the worst problem with GPS locating me with ICS. It takes at least 5-10 minutes for me to connect in google navigation. Only problem I've had with stock ICS though.

Sorry about that, I was trying to figure out, and I have some clues, I did not use the original microSD, I have a 32 GB sandisk, but gingerbread work just fine with that memory, could it be?

Google Maps does not have the GPS lock problem. It's the navigation app that has problems getting GPS lock. It'll be stuck on the screen that says "Searching for GPS"

I use to have this problem in GB, I read in a post that it's related with the servers used in the file /system/etc/gps.conf. You can use an app called FasterFix (require root) to solve this problem.

GPS locking issue unless coming from a reboot

I cant get a GPS lock with google maps unless I reboot my phone, I am on 4.1.2 official ROM ( non rooted ) GPS test shows an accuracy of 10-13feet with several sattelite locks, has anyone experienced the same problem?
Anyone? could this be a hardware defect?
I'm having the same thing. My GPS used to work perfectly until a couple weeks ago, and now I have to reboot otherwise it will not lock.
It says location set by GPS, but it isn't actually set, it's so weird, it's like it gives up looking. Anybody know how to fix this?

Hmmm, I still can't get it to work. I managed to get a searching icon for a bit and it disappeared again. I think that plus the failing update thing == me taking it back in the morning and getting a newer one from a different Best Buy. I tried clearing framework services and reverting the maps app multiple times and no go. Even standing out in the middle of the street at 3am trying to get it to lock.

I had the update fail, and my GPS was dead, too. Swapped it at Best Buy. New one had no update issues and GPS works great!
Can you do some extensive testing with the gps in the new exchanged one??? because I got gps working good on my tablet but after using it for awhile it like turns itself off, shows a searching for gps flashing icon at top left of screen and cannot lock on to satellites no more!

Hoping that will be my case too, just got back with a shiny new replacement, from a different store this time that just got their truck in and unloaded late last night. So hopefully I'm avoid the "bad best buy batch" lol.

Looks like I'm good to go, replacement has no screen issues (dust or pixels) and the update installed perfectly, GPS locked in about 15 seconds, mostly waiting for me to step out of the house I'm guessing.
My gps suddenly failed to lock on to any satellites when playing ingress, reboot fixed it

I've never had a device which locked on as fast as this Nexus 7. Its beautiful. Make sure the top of the device isn't being smothered by your hand because that degrades the signal received significantly.

Knock on Wood, I think I got the gps problems nipped in the butt!
I had to reset the tablet from system settings after having both updates installed, when setting up tablet (initial boot) enable all location stuff except for the new android 4.3 wifi location while off option.. Also make sure to disable backup and restore options while doing the initial install.
Now so far GPS has been working steadily ever since first initial boot, no need to reset and power up again and after trying it for an hour all gps apps back and forth its still finding signal sometimes instant sometimes 20 seconds or so but no issues like before this time...
Working like it should now! I guess a hard reset after all updates was needed to reconfigure things!
As long I only use Google Maps, the GPS locks consistently.
If I use other GPS apps (like GPS Status, Gas Buddy, etc.) then eventually the GPS gets into a state where it won't lock, ie the GPS in the status bar just blinks forever.
Reboot has fixed this every time.
When the JSS15J first installed, the GPS also wouldn't lock. I had to turn on WiFi/Mobile assistance for it to lock the first time. After that first lock, I could turn off WiFi/Mobile assistance and it would still lock on its own.

i can't have any issue

Anyone else use a lot of GPS and notice this?

Okay, long story short I drive at work, use GPS a lot, almost every day.
Every once in a while my GPS will just stop holding a lock. When I try to use navigation it will not have a lock, then the GPS symbol will blink for a couple seconds, lock on, then a couple seconds later it loses a lock again.
When this happens even a clean wipe and clean rom install doesn't fix it... I just kinda have to wait it out.
I'm about to return my S4 to T-Mobile and get a new one because this has happened like 8 times now and it really interferes with my work.
I use my gps quite a bit and have never had an issue... Stock or custom roms

Any rom. It's happened on Stock, CM, AOKP, PAC, PA, etc, both M919 ROM's and i9505 ROM's... I don't know.
Well if that tool doesn't work, then you may be looking at a hardware issue.
