Hotspot option disappeared
After an update phone got on a loop on boot. I tot it with factory file, rooted, installed 2faced again. Everything is fine, but ever since the hotspot option is missing. How do I get it back?
I'm sorry about this. I just recently got a working computer again but haven't developed for the G2 in a long while. I have since moved onto the Galaxy S5

@Artifesto
Glad to see you have got a computer again. We are sorry to see you go. Though some of us know a year has gone by and so does most development for phones.
May those S5 users enjoy your work as much as we have.
Good luck in your future endeavors.
We will miss you.
i would continue the G2 work if my G2 didn't just turn off and never turn back on for me. So i kind of had to get a new phone, almost went to the Lumia Icon but I'm glad I stuck with Android

I would love to get into developing or such, but I need a better system. The one I have tried to do so with, keeps locking up. With minimal things running.

I could quote you what i put into mine but it would easily put you in the $2k range for a build, which is about to go up as i will likely SLI 2 GTX 980's

Does anyone know if there's a stable LP version of this ROM? The ROM is more important to me than the updated Android, but if I could have both that would be ideal.

Well, hallo there!
It's been a while since I've posted a release thread on XDA... I've been lurking in the shadows (and on IRC) for quite some time.
Here, I present to you a teaser of things to come:
ClockworkMod Recovery (non-touch) 6.0.1.5 for the Sprint Optimus G.
What is this?
This is a "recovery" for your phone, it allows you to install custom ROMs, back up your phone, fix it when it breaks, and much more.
This specific version is "ClockworkMod", which was created by the CyanogenMod team and Koush.
There are many recovery versions out there, I have picked ClockworkMod because it is very easy to compile and debug.
I will compile other recoveries as time permits.
Click to collapse
Where can I get it?
Please go here to download it: http://downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lgoptimusg/sprint/recoveries/
Note: this is a "tethered" build of CWM, as you can not flash it. You must use fastboot to boot the image every time you wish to enter recovery.
This is due to the locked bootloader on this device.
This will not allow you to install a custom ROM just yet, and please don't ask for custom ROM dates yet. I'm working on it...
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!
This is *not* safe, and should *not* be done by anyone unsure of what they are doing.
I will post links once I have ironed out bugs, but I WILL NOT SUPPORT anyone using it to modify their phone.
Please don't use this if you don't know how to LGNPST your phone back from the dead, should you accidentally kill it.

Special thanks to user Shelnutt2 for helping me test this on the Sprint variant.
Here's a pic of it running on his Optimus G:
And, here's a video for extra proof
Luckily the video quality isn't potato, but the audio sure is. My explanation is that my HTC Vivid doesn't like me. An engineer's explanation would be that I was speaking softly, as it was 1:30AM at the time of recording, and the phone merely decided that my meek volume was purely background noise... at least, I think that's what an engineer would say, as I haven't graduated yet.

Here's my favorite section of an XDA post: the "special thanks to" section.
Without the help of these awesome people, I would have nothing of interest to say, and would just be a random guy with a phone.
Seriously, these guys are awesome.
Here's the list (in no special order, and by IRC name):
Shelnutt2

xboxfanj
jonasl
kmdm

fastboot is the same as with the AT&T varient, aka oem unlock does nothing.
Great work
This is a great start. I can not thank you enough. Like someone mentioned in the petition thread, even if you are not planning to buy this device, please sign the petition for lg to unlock the phone. We need to get a culture of unlocked bootloaders going. Again thanks for the good work
Thanks for the share.. works great.
Does this mean the bootloader is unlock?
Hallowed Is The Sader
At this point no the bootloader is not unlocked though I wish it were I so want this phone but I'm going to wait for a few days and see if they make more progress

Y'all know about the quiet before the storm?
It's coming.
Trust me.
If you were in IRC today, you know what I mean. If not, just wait a few days. We've got very exciting news. (Please, no PM's asking what/how/why just yet.)
Extra special thanks to IRC user g33k3r for stepping up and risking his device many times, Shelnutt2 for being awesome, and Vitaligent for an awesome new boardname.
Sprint Optimus G is codenamed the "geehrc", ATT's is the "geeb".
We're changing it.
Sprint is now the "jeebusc" and ATT is the "jeebus".
Expect some XDA silence for a few days while we build new kernels.
Has anyone provided the appropriate files for the LG U+ Korean variant (the device I am posting from)?

You guys are simply the best. Thank you so much for your hard work. I can't wait!
I would definitely be willing to provide the appropriate files for the LG U+ Korean variant. However I have never used IRC. If the OP would be willing to PM me instructions I would do my best to get the files to him.
EDIT: No rush, no pressure. I understand that the US domestic carriers are certainly priority in this endeavor, once OP has everything ironed out, perhaps then he may be interested/ willing to include international carriers/ variants.

Recovery Is posted under the download link. I attempted to reboot tethered into recovery you posted, but fastboot doesn't seem to want to detect my device. Lg drivers are installed and debugging is on, any thoughts?
So, here's a quick update:
We've got lots of work to do. We have a _very_ viable avenue for FULL AOSP compatibility.
Right now, us developers need to sit down and talk about some major changes to the phone-- and plan out a 'disaster recovery' scenario, since this is no longer a 'quick modification' of the system, but a full AOSP conversion.
Without saying too much, we have quite a bit of proof to support our theories, and a member of the development team is now running the first build of Android 4.2 on his/her Optimus G with very few issues.
It suffers from the same issues that the Nexus 4 does-- for instance, benchmarks are ~4500 as opposed to the 7500 that have been reported by members of the community.
At this point in time though, we will be working "behind closed doors" for a few days until we can come up with a workable solution to this, as the current method is very long and convoluted, and will cause confusion with the Sprint version.
Since I'm posting this same reply on both of my threads (sprint and ATT), I'll give the Sprint update here too...
We've run into some issues with the Sprint version, although it is possible that they'll be easily rectified here in the coming days. Suffice it to say though that we have made less progress with the Sprint variant than the ATT variant (oddly enough). However, I've got some ideas (*cough cough* GPT partition trickery) that should fix the issue.
As usual-- PLEASE do not message myself of any of the other developers asking for an ETA. I know y'all are anxious, but if you really need to know, just stop by IRC and listen for a few mins, you'll probably hear us chattering away about hex offsets and load addresses in between me and my coworker tending to b0rked RHEL installs and Juniper firewalls.
In regards to LGNPST, look for a writeup here soon... I know it's been a source of frustration to some of you on the IRC channel, however please don't expect that I have a full 4 hours to devote to teaching commandline basics for Windows.
Once again, much thanks goes out to Shelnutt2, g33k3r, ilkinasr92, and xboxfanj for all the hard work.
Expect updates on XDA as they come, as usual.
Peace!
You guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Full AOSP support!?!?!? Wow, i had to wait months on my last phone. I can't wait so excited!!
Hello everyone,
I need some help with my phone. I have a Motorola RAZR MAXX (not HD). My carrier is Ntelos which is regional cell company in WV and Va. I have had this phone for about a year and a half. I am able to get a new phone in October. This one is starting to give me some fits so I think it is time to "tweak" it. I have put in a custom ROM before (Cyanogen - couple of years ago on older phone) so I am pretty sure I can handle it. I just need to know which one is best for my phone. I will put some of the phone specs below. Thanks

"Best ROM/Kernel" questions are not allowed (really tolerated) on this forum. If you're lucky someone will politely tell you to try them all & decide for yourself. Typical response trend toward being flamed. So, while you can, run for your phone's development forum & start researching ROMs.
Good luck.

I've been researching for some time. Friend has same phone on nTelos. I will dare to ask here for help. Flame me if that is what happens in this thread...
BTW, I really just want to know if it is possible to flash / root the thing. If I get on that path I shoudl be able to find a suitable ROM.
TIA.

You really found nothing in phone's development forum that answered your question?
It may be the answer is it can't be done on xt908 on nTelos. That is what I saw. So I asked here.

I am using this ROM for 2 days, only bug's i found are on the:
Storage Settings , when opened , after 2 or 3 second it closes.
and on camera when creating panorama, if you press volume up or down, some flickering is created in front of the picture.
I installed Link2SD and it work's great.
So far no lag detected, my opinion this ROM is better than CM7.2 and stock, it is responsible and fast.
I am using SGA for almost 2 years, and i tried lot's of ROM'S , and after some time using , they get laggy and become unstable.
Only thing i don't understand is why Play store say's that Facebook Messenger is not compatible with this version?

FIRSTLY - HUGE THANKS FOR THIS ROM !!!
ive had this phone, GT-S5830 for a LONG time now, im way too poor for phones so i get hand me downs, lol, so beggars cant be choosers, so to speak lol and very greatful for it from me friends, family AND ALL YOU GREAT AWESOME FOLKS !!!
Thanks so much - was a breeze to install, much simpler than i thought as being a TOTAL NOOB in installing Android Roms, but i love details and tech savvy so wasnt hard to pick up
This Error of the settings storage though, how would one go about fixing that, say if i wanted to try (or if anyone could help point me in the right direction of where exactly the error is originating from in the ROM's source code/binary/file structure etc ?!?) and that would be the icing on the cake for this Poor old Aged Phone that we've come to Love (especially as its me only lifeline lol)
Again a great thanks to all who made it possible and the hard work you folks did on this ROM, super-awesome and thanks in advance if i ever get a response to such an old ROM topic lol

Thank you for still using this Rom! I am very pleased that people are still using this rom. Some errors do pop up saying so and so has stopped. I am guessing this is done because of the amount of processes is allowed to run at the device at one time. Not sure what exactly is the problem but in my past experience with this phone (I've used that phone for about two years xD) there were crashes with apps here and there in Jellybean and up. But yeah, if you are looking to upgrade and not spend much (like I did) Likes of Sony Xperia SP and other mid/high end phones are there and are at a affordable price. I bought the ace for around 230 AUD and after two years dropped to like around 120 AUD which is still quite expensive for a such a super low end phone. If you are going to keep using it, I suggest you use CyanLightspeed (another rom I made) which is better for the Ace and runs much, much, much smoother.
If you want to know how good a phone with 1gb ram, 1.7ghz cpu and the fastest phone gpu from late 2013 (adreno 320) it is the Xperia SP. I paid around 250 AUD. Had to get international though because they didn't sell it in Australia. Anyways, it was nice commenting I hope I answered your question and perhaps you enjoyed reading this article. And I am sorry for the late reply.. Need to get back onto XDA.
Cheers!

So whats the next step to getting either AOSP or CM? Waiting? Sorry for the noob question in advance
I haven't seen this question answered with anything other than conjecture. Sorry if it was and I missed it.
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I'm eligible for an upgrade with Sprint on December 1st. I'll be getting the G3. What will my situation be if my device has 5.0 on it already? It sounds like the ideal spot is to already be rooted, taking no OTAs, and waiting for flashible roms. With Bump being released today, will there be a new bootloader for the G3 with Lollipop, preventing people like me rooting and livin the dream?
I get the picture the boat is setting sail, and I'll be watching it float away if Sprint releases Lollipop before I get mine. I have no idea if they realistically will. Just thinking...
Thanks!

Just bumping, because it looks like this has slipped under the radar, and someone must have an informed response. It may be for nothing, because there might be a good chance I'll get my G3 from Sprint before they load it with 5.0. If they do, and I'm unable to unlock the bootloader for an indefinite amount of time, that might be enough for me to consider other devices.
Does anyone have an answer?

SGH-I847 Charging problem
Hi. I’ve try various things to speed up my SGH-I847. Finally CM9 help, phone is working faster and I think battery stay longer, but no more then one day with very little use.
My baseband is UCLH4, CyanogenMod -20121221-UNOFICIAL-apache.
After this update strange things are happen while charging. After getting to 100% battery is going down while still connected to original charger.
Do you know how to solve this problem? I’ve order already new battery, but don’t have much hope that this will solve the problem.
I’m not smartphon specialist ( service did update, but having no idea how to solve charging problem telling me that’s CM charm ) so please If you can come with some simple solution

Hmm... I think I remember having this issue. What I think I would do was wait till it got to 100% then unplug the charger and plug it in again. That would "set it straight" for the current charge. For each charge you would have to do this. I actually am not sure if I had to wait till100% charge before doing this, but just to play it safe wait until 100% and see if that works first. If this doesn't solve the problem, try either flashing a different baseband (UCLA4), or do a full restore to stock firmware from ODIN and re-root, re-flash, etc.
