So If I am running pandora or tune in radio, the music will keep playing when I 'back' out of the app and am navigating around the fire tv, or even when I enter xbmc. When I start watching a movie in xbmc, the music also keeps playing until I back out of spmc and hit pause.
Is there a better way to handle this? Obviously I like the music playing when navigating, but ideally, if I play anything in spmc it should stop that other app...
Also, are the amazon/android apps always running in the background even though they have been 'closed' or do they shut down eventually if unused?

Recently, my Spotify app has pretty much been eating itself, and is beginning to become more and more of nuisance, for two reasons.
1) I usually have Spotify playing in my rucksack, while the Fire itself is on standby (it conserves battery power, while stoolallowing me to listen to music). However, it recently started just randomly switching between pause and play when I don't tell it to. It leaves large gaps in the track I'm listening to, and there doesn't seem like any particular pattern I can find as to why.
2) Whenever I'm trying watching a YouTube video, a song will suddenly start playing, and will force the video to pause. However, the video and music then fight each other, and then both proceed to alternate between playing and paused disorientingly (since I'm assuming both can't be operational at the same time) until I stop both manually. This happens every time I try to watch a video, and even worse, when the Spotify app hasn't been opened for a long time, and the video just pauses at certain random moments without any music.
Would be mighty grateful for some help, please.
I listen to ESPN radio a lot using either slacker radio or AOL radio app from the play store. Problem I'm having is it constantly stops streaming. I don't believe its a data issue because I disconnect from bluetooth and stream on my speaker phone and it works a lot better. Also... Streaming via Bluetooth I use poweramp or rocket player or whatever default music player and I don't really have issues. This happens on touchwiz and aosp. Any one else with problems like this with same apps or other apps? Thanks in advance.
I have similar issues with NFL GamePass app. On the GN2, I have to my bluetooth device off (but can have blue tooth radio on) when I start a video, otherwise the video plays like it's on fast-forward or only shows a black screen. On Android 4.1.2 the video would stop, and I would have go from full screen to non-full screen for the video to start playing again.
I have the same issue with NFL GP app on my tablet (ASUS Infinity Pad (TF700)) as well. So it's the app. I have no idea because it's only thing that does it; no issue on Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, MLBatBat, ESPN3, NHL CenterIce, BBC iPlayer, Google Music to name a few.
It just happens.
I use Sing! Karoke for listening to songs, but there is a major flaw on the Fire Phone. When you play a song, it'll play for half a second, and then stop. This way there is literally no way to listen to any songs on this app. I remember this used to happen in the Facebook app, that a video just plays for half a second and then stops. Is there any fix for this? I have a rooted Fire Phone, so is there a way to work around it? I would appreciate your help! I am currently on Stock Fire OS 4.6.6.1. I dont want to use CM 11 because I use the Fire Phone as camera as well.
Anyone know how to stop the Samsung music app from pausing music when you load or swap to a game?
I don't think it's the music app, but the game claiming media controls.
my solution is just to manually resume music whenever a game pauses it.

Click to collapse
I turn the audio options off, on all my games so I don't think it's that.
I tend to flick through several games at any one time and to have to have my music interrupted and broken up the whole time is incredibly annoying
it's irrelevant.
even if a game's sound is turned off it still announces "i want media controls", which causes all media playing locally to pause.
I'm on a new Fire TV running 5.2.4.0
I've noticed that about half the time if I'm watching something in one program (channel... whatever) and hit the home button, I can still hear the video playing even though I'm on the home screen. It's as if the program is still running in the background somehow.
I'm coming from a roku so am new to fire tv. I'm wondering if there's a more appropriate way on the fire tv to quit a program??
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.
I always just hit the back button to back out of the app...
Pressing home is not supposed to quite the app. This is the expected behavior on all Android devices, not just the Fire TV, so that you can jump in and out of multiple apps without losing your place. If you want to quit an app, you need to either use the app's built in quit/exit option (if it has one) or go into the Fire TV's settings menu and force quit an app from list of installed apps.
Audio from an app continuing to play while you're on the Fire TV home screen is also the intended behavior. This is so you can start music, like in the Amazon Music app, Spotify, or Pandora, and do something else on the Fire TV while the music is still playing. If audio is playing while you're on the home screen, you should be able to press play/pause/fast forward/rewind to control the audio, even though the app is not in the foreground.
