Gingerbread improve battery life?

Anyone know if battery life will improve at all with the new gingerbread update coming tomorrow? I'm just curious to see if they helped improve that at all, knowing that alot of people are currently running 2.3 already.

There probably won't be a big increase in battery life, but what this does mean is that there will be source for GB Sense kernels for the EVO. This is great because then kernel developers can start cooking better kernels that offer more battery savings.

I certainly hope so, but I wouldn't count on a major increase.

I have an extended life battery on my EVO. It has always allowed me to use the EVO as much as I wanted as long as I charged it nightly. Since I installed Gingerbread, my phone will no longer make it all day. Gingerbread actually made my battery life much worse. I wish I had never installed it.

Well, every update I'm sure has some specific things that optimize the processes the phone runs and the task killers, so there's probably some minor improvements. I doubt you'll notice all that much though . If you're having issues with battery life hit up my sig lol

my moms evo had a problem with battery life. Some how it wasnt charging correctly. A battery pull for a few minutes fixed the issue.

Had the same problem it would charge for some time but then stop charging..but its fine now

I've been running GB now for almost a week and I definitely have quite a bit worse batter life.

I installed a rooted gb rom last night and updated all the radios. Runs smoothly but my battery life has significantly gone down. Does anyone know if there is a known display issue with the update? See my screenshot of my battery stats.

I found an email with a rather large attachment in my outbox that my phone was continually trying to send. When I deleted the email, my battery life returned to performance that was similar to the performance I had prior to the GB update. I believe the phone was continually trying to send the email and it was swamping my battery.

I'm really curious to know what the battery life on CM10 is since I used to have FF18 and I have to say that it wasn't as great as I expected it. Right now I downgraded to EL29, mainly bc of battery consumption but I want to know other people's experience with CM10.

The cm 10 battery life will vary..for Me Jb battery life is fine..with a little effort it is very possible to get good battery life..was it as good as ICS.?.honestly no..but ICS has source for our device and source for in on our device hasn't came

my experience wasn't good. ill wait for it to improve. I'm on CM9 for now.

I barely even use it AT ALL, and battery is at 32% after less than 10hrs. Also, playing Bad Piggies for 30mins, and it'll go from a full charge to 12%.
ICS wasn't any better for me either, but I think JB is a tad worse...

im running nightlies from phantomphreak and im getting 13-15 hrs average. thats with moderate usage. best thing you can do is set it to 800mhz max and conservative. everything still perfectly smooth for me

heres my battery life with the latest nightly from phantom freak. cpu set at 800mhz max with pegasusq governor

absolutely terrible lol i gotta charge it like 2-3 times a day

What ROM do you guys experience best battery with?

Just wondering, what ROMS have you guys tried and genuinely thought "Wow, the battery really is good".
I've been trying Renovate since version 8 and battery on my device has been pretty poor, on AR-HD it's quite regular, don't have any issues with it.
I'm sticking with Sense and haven't tried any other Sense ROMS and that's why I'm asking.
Also not planning to switching to AOSP ever.

You can try skydragon . My battery life lasts about 8 hours on heavy usage .

I've read in the thread an update is coming though, any idea what the changes/fixes will be?

I think ARHD V9.7.2 have more stable and better battery performance to JB ARHD 16!
I have over heat issue with that!

User selectable tweaks,aroma installer and De sensed option among many more .

I used ViperX for a long time. That has always given me the best battery life. I've even been able to get up to 6h of screen on time with heavy internet use.
If you're looking for a JB sense ROM, I had great battery life on both InsertCoin and OrDroid. Nowhere near ViperX, but still good.

Had a PM asking how I manage to get 6 hours of on screen use and thought my reply might help others, so I'm going to post it here too.

That was with ViperX 2.7.1 running the AOSP theme.
Yeah I've had 6 hours, or near to it, quite a few times now. I actually use the stock kernel included in .zip.
I also desense the rom and mainly use the phone with about 30% brightness. Also, make sure feed sync is switched off in Facebook under the accounts and sync area in the settings because that's an absolute killer. I still have Plume and GMail set to sync almost all the time, but with Facebook on, it totally destroys the battery. If you want to sav even more battery whilst increasing battery life, switch everything to manual sync.
ViperX is an excellent choice. I've used loads of the new JB sense roms and none can compare to ViperX for battery life and the excellent mods included.

I'm thinking about installing MM, but Fulmics 2.6 is so good that I don't want to reinstall everything without being sure that it's the right choice. So, for everyone that was on Fulmics 2.x and is now on MM:
1) Is your battery better?
2) what about performance (games, UI) ?
3) Are you experiencing any random reboot, FC's, etc?

Yes, battery with Doze is something amazing. Performance is great as well. I dont know about games, because i dont really play any, but UI snappines and smoothness is incredible. No random reboots, FCs or anything. I went from Fulmics 2.5 and I dont regret it. I mean, I cant wait for Fulmics MM, but right now, it feels like a new phone. Just go for it, if you dont like it, you can always go back.
Here is a screenshot of my battery stats. Of course it was during Christmas, so I didnt spend much time actually ON the phone. 66 hours in, 2.5h SOT, 40% battery left. Seems pretty amazing to me, even though it is not really 66 hour of usage.

I'm not a gamer and never had fulmics but stock MM has faster UI and better scrolling compared to novastock 5.6.

Stock Marshmallow is faster and more stable than any stock or custom ROM ever put on this forum
Battery life might be better or the same, but I still didn't experience any random battery drain. It's constant from the first day I updated mine phone to Marshmallow.
There is no lag or stutter in the UI or long hangings in loading apps.
Game performance is the same.
Also no FCs for now

Im my opinion, Marshmallow sucks compared to FULMINS ROM.
If you want a stable and reliable RO, go with fulmics.
Ig you want the marshmallow option, which has approx 3 different settings etc for the camera + you cant use with Xcam.

I was on Fulmics 2.5 and then 2.7 it such a great rom but however stock MM is by far smoother and much more stable than Fulmics IMHO.
Can't wait Fulmics to release MM version.

Insane Battery Drain

So i installed the RNN 7.1.1 Rom for my Oneplus 3, and its also rooted. Today in class my phone gets insanely hot (Like 40-50C*) And the battery goes from 70% to 40% within half an hour. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help. I've tried a lot of ROMs and none of them seem to give me good battery life. It cant just be the apps draining that much power so quick. Then there is no idea having 6 GB of ram

Well did you do a clean install? Wipe everything and sideload it? Nougat has decent battery right now.

Normally i only Wipe Delvik (i think its called. What TRWP recommends me to) and then restart. But this time if removed everything on it, and installed the RNN rom, and i have this bad battery. I don't know why :/

Try sultanxda CM13-based Marshmallow rom. I tried them all (OB9, OB10, OOS4.0, OOS3.2.8, CM14.1, ...), but this one is just freaking awesome. Smoother than any other rom, perfect battery life and no battery drain issues. I get easily 7h of SOT across 2 days. With Xposed and Android N-Ify it also looks like Nougat.

Why would that be?
Because cm dead? But the source code isn't and sultan pretty much does all the work on his own

I find out the problem was messenger or facebook, and the problem has been fixed now
