Hey guys,
So, I have an M8_DUGL, S-ON, with hboot: 3.19.0
It is unlocked, but not S-OFF.
I can get to stock recovery; however, whenever I flash a custom recovery, it gets flashed successfully but doesn't work. It always takes me back to the bootloader page again when I press on REOCVERY. Anyone know why this happens?
I also do not have any OS installed at the moment, mistakes have been made and I wiped it out. So, I need to relfash it. However, it's been a real pain for me to find an RUU that works. I have a CID of J__15, and OS (supposedly): 3.33.401.6
Any help would bee really appreciated. Thanks
You will have to go through the root process again seems like you made a stumble in the process.. It happens go through it again and it should work properly but make a nandroid back up! Before proceeding!

Well, haha, I have nothing to make a nandroid back up with. I do not have a recovery and no ROM either. I was too tired, and messed up real bad.
So, my current standing is that I only have my sacred bootloader. I can access fasboot, but can't do anything more. Stock recovery works, but when I flash different custom recoveries, they just don't work. I've done many mods in previous HTC phones, so this is kinda weird to me why it's not working. Do you have any idea to why this is happening?
Did you use the same tool with the other htc phones? Or did you use a different one maybe you didn't root it properly.. If you can still access the stock rom. Try to root it again that's my best advice because it should work on the m8 I rooted one of my m8 must unlock the bootloader before anything tho and must root the phone properly this time.. Let me know if any other questions need to be answered

I can't access stock rom, ROM is wiped. I need to re-install it, but I can't since I can't get the system image, and can't use custom recovery...
Okay what carrier do you have? Ima see if my resources will find what your looking for.

I do not have a carrier, it is an international variant. CID is J__15, Dual sim phone, M8, with a europe 3.33.401.6 ROM (supposedly).

Good link. Not a toolkit, but actually doing it manually. That's the way I rooted as well. @zedomax has some really great tutorials for a bunch of different devices.

You can use the old nandroid backup 1.45.401.12 - TWRP Thanks to kakyyabata from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376 and proceed with OTA again up to 3.33.401.6
Use the TWRP that support dual SIM. If I'm not wrong, the one link in my sig does. Or you read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/htc-one-m8-dual-sim-european-version-t2816991
p.s I don't know what's the connection between rooting again with no OS problem.
You need OS then only you can root

Are you sorted yet? I have a dual sim M8 and I used to use a custom recovery, but changed recently to the standard TWRP, which now supports the dual sim version. You can find that on the TWRP site.

Hello, thanks for your concern! So, for the moment, I didn't have the chance to reflash the ROM, but I tried this recovery: https://yadi.sk/d/cMN-N_2hWotAH and it worked. I will give the official TWRP a shot when I'm done with exams! Thank you so much, I'll update this post when I fix my phone!

Guys,
Probably a milion times this has been said but I'm really a total noob. I just got a secondhand One V with following details:
SOftware 4.0.3 version
Kernel: [email protected]#1 PREEMPT
Baseband: 20.79.30.0835U_3831.24.00.23_M
I would like to install a clean / fast rom as now the phone is very slow but I dont know where to start. I know there are probably milion threads with the same issue but the more I read into it the more I get confused ( kernel, CWM, Bootloader etc). Can i please get a step by step that is really easy to follow and working? Is there a video tutorial perhaps? WHat custom rom do you recomend for this phone?
I know that I will probably get directed to the general forum and I really do apologize for posting such topic but any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Oh well I finally managed to brick my phone ( at least I guess) Its stuck on boot logo.
I wanted to install another ROM but I didnt first put the ROM on my SD card. I decided to restore my back up - the original ROM.
I did but when I rebooted it got stuck on boot logo. Then I figured I should fastboot flash boot boot.img which I found in the ROM i downloaded.
DId that as well but after reboot still stuck on boot logo.
Is there a way to fix this??? I was so unlucky with ROMS these days none of the ones I tried the Wi-fi/data Worked
Edit : FIXED!!!
I extracted the img from the back up ROM and now its all good.
Very Cool Guys
Hi im not a total noob but I have never updated my phone as was looking for the simplest way to do so. I also have a few questions for when ive done so. Im currently on 4.4.2 rooted soff and have been advised to update so I can get a working kexec so I can install multirom properly.
will I need to reroot and unlock bootloader after?
Is there a risk of bricking.
thanks.

Sir if you were in rooted condition and gladly also in S-OFF, you're free to do anything , i mean rather than fallback to stock, just flash any custom rom you want but also flash it's correlated firmware.
Thank You

If I'm you, I rather update my device to 4.4.4 first as you're running the older firmware so all you can enjoy is simply CM based rom whereas the lastest GPE and sense based rom may not work properly since you're still using the older firmware.
Is it better for me to return to stock update everything and reroot rather than updateing Rom and firmware seperately

The easiest way is to get s off, then go superCID
You download the firmware zip, rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip. Put that on your extCSD and boot into hboot.
That's it. Your phone does the rest.
You can read more about it here.

I understand you not wanting to mess your phone. It is always best not to proceed if you are unsure.
I'm not sure what carrier you are on, but for the normal international model, you will want to download this firmware to use in the method I explained.
Some American carriers have different firmware, so if you on an American carrier, let me know which one and I will provide you with the proper download to update to 4.4.4
The best thing about this method over an RUU is that you won't lose any data.

I doubt that any stock rom will flash with twrp recovery....in the past with oppo phones (n1, 7a) its always needed stock recovery to flash stock roms...I guess we just play the waiting game until someone can upload the boot image from the updated rom. I'm pretty sure flashing that alone will get wifi back up and running. 07 Or if someone has the stock recovery they could upload....I am unsure if you can just rip it directly out of the rom and flash it....Also on oppo forums they have posted the rom for 5207 I am also unsure if you can flash that to the 5206.
The zip in that thread is images to flash in fastboot?
...
I would think you would have to flash each image individually.... system, boot, recovery ....unless if we start by flashing only the unmodified boot.img to see if it will fix wifi....but i doubt it because i suspect the wrong boot image is what screwed up wifi in the first place...someone please correct me if im wrong

Yes, you're right; the boot image is not compatible with the upgrade; so downgrade to get root. I'm working on trying to upgrade again with the OTA upgrade and then getting the new boot.img and rooting that. More soon I hope!
FYI I tried your images, Lum_UK and found that I couldn't flash boot.img with fastboot, BUT I could dd them from within recovery, so I got myself up and running again.
Yes you'd have to flash all the images by hand one after the other.

I have no idea what it changes as it's the firmware my International N5706 was shipped with when it was released last week. It may be different to the US model (though I believe the only difference between the two is the baseband) and is definitely different to the N5707 for Chinese users.

You mean you need a ROM that will boot on that firmware?
This one will:
http://insertcoin-roms.org/htc-one-m9-custom-rom/
Go to more/older and select 2.1.5 and also get the 2.1.6 Incremental Repack. Flash the full rom first, then flash the 2.1.6 incremental update and you'll have the most current version of the rom for the 1.40 firmware you're running.

Can you please say what the issue was in case someone else has a similar problem?
Re: firmware - Do you know your CID?
Everything seems to be working now, I just wanted to use the last version of firmware. If its possible.

Were you just not letting it sit long enough at the HTC screen?
New firmware for your device is supposed to be released soon.
You'll have to return to unmodified system image to get the update over the air, or if you're s-off you can just flash it manually. If you're not s-off yet, it costs $25 through an app called sunshine.

You might be able to get some help from the thread that you downloaded the ROM from that you're trying to flash. Since you're still on lollipop make sure that's not a marshmallow ROM you're trying to flash. Good luck to you. Once you get it all figured out you're going to love it!
