Guys,
Probably a milion times this has been said but I'm really a total noob. I just got a secondhand One V with following details:
SOftware 4.0.3 version
Kernel: [email protected]#1 PREEMPT
Baseband: 20.79.30.0835U_3831.24.00.23_M
I would like to install a clean / fast rom as now the phone is very slow but I dont know where to start. I know there are probably milion threads with the same issue but the more I read into it the more I get confused ( kernel, CWM, Bootloader etc). Can i please get a step by step that is really easy to follow and working? Is there a video tutorial perhaps? WHat custom rom do you recomend for this phone?
I know that I will probably get directed to the general forum and I really do apologize for posting such topic but any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

That explains almost everything. If you have a CDMA phone, I suggest the Rythimic Rom or the Slim Bean Rom. Go to each of their respective threads to find the kernels you need to install for them.

Oh well I finally managed to brick my phone ( at least I guess) Its stuck on boot logo.
I wanted to install another ROM but I didnt first put the ROM on my SD card. I decided to restore my back up - the original ROM.
I did but when I rebooted it got stuck on boot logo. Then I figured I should fastboot flash boot boot.img which I found in the ROM i downloaded.
DId that as well but after reboot still stuck on boot logo.
Is there a way to fix this??? I was so unlucky with ROMS these days none of the ones I tried the Wi-fi/data Worked
Edit : FIXED!!!
I extracted the img from the back up ROM and now its all good.
Very Cool Guys

First of all don't panic!
Grab any .55 firmware and install it with FlashTool, when installation is finished don't turn on the phone, disconnect it and hold Volume UP button so it boots in Fastboot mode, then in FlashTool click FLASH then select fastboot and press Flash Kernel > flash this one (Download) When it's over just turn on your device as normal and you will have .55 with Root & Recovery. Good Luck
BEFORE INSTALLING KERNEL UNRAR THE PACKAGE YOU NEED ONLY .elf File.
Just Select elite.elf when choosing kernel to flash.
Attached KERNEL is by RaymanFX.
Thank your for the quick answer.
Do i first need to unlock my bootloarder?
Which firmwares can i install with that kernel?

Hello @schpongo,
I'd Certainly Help You Out.
First of AlL, What You Need Is
1. Unlocked Bootloader - http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
2. Rooted Device - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2133063
3. Installing CWM Recovery. I prefer RecoverX - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227
And As My Friend In Above Post Said. Do Not Panic. It Takes Patience. And lots of waiting time.
Till one process is complete do not try to unplug or close anything. Its easy when you do things very calmly.
Ok Now for Available ROMS - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950706
If you require suggestions regarding flashing roms I'd advice you to start with TEAM FXP ROMS - Cyanogen Mod 10

I Solved the Problem partly by using the flash tool to get back the stock os.
You can use the Flash tool to flash the boot.img file in the phone. It's really simple then manually doing it. I am on phone so can not provide you the link. Please use the search button on how to flash boot. Img using flash tool. Looping in boot is because the boot.img was not flashed properly. Use the flash tool to do it. I too had the same problem when I first flashed but soon found out the problem. Reply back if everything works..

CM 10 is a really good Rom with Stable recovery.
You can even download other ROMS of Build NOZOMI - (Code Name For Xperia S) eg Slim Bean build 5 Nozomi JB 4.2.2
And directly flash it from CWM recovery.

Yes, Unfortunately For This Purpose There is A Need for a little knowledge of Titanium Back Up.
It Will Bring All Your Settings Messages And Apps Back Without Any Modifications. Or loosing it.
The Reason : Every Time You Flash A New Rom
You Always ,
1 Whip Cache Partition
2 Cache /data /sysytem
3 Dalvik Cache
This Removes All The Apps.

have you checked if there is any fix/workaround in the rom thread, or even if anyone reports tehe issue? it's not an hardware problem for sure, as you can access it via recovery...
Try another aosp kernel. That seems to fix it.

yeah, just like you did with the rom one...
boot.img = kernel
kernel_name.zip = kernel modules
you can avoid flashing the boot.img only if your hox is s-off and the developer put the instruction to flash the boot.img in the updater script inside the zip file... so flash it via fastboot

Kernel is boot.img. You can push the img with fastboot (fastboot flash boot boot.img), or get Flashify from the play store.
If you plan on trying different kernels, it is recommended to flash the stock kernel, reboot, then flash the new custom kernel. It has something to do with some custom kernels using a custom ram disk. Not sure on the specifics, exactly.

Hi everyone!
So after unlocking my bootloader following Sony's guide, I restarted the phone but it got stuck in the bootanimation. The good news is that I had flashed CWM, the bad news is that the phone still gets stuck on the boot animation even With the Official CyanogenMod 11...
I really don't know what I must do and I can't find something concrete about my problem.
The bootloader can be unlocked, I've tested (with the code) before attempting anything. I have also the 4.3 update and followed a guide. I did flash the boot.img via fastboot. That's it. And the Xperia M I'm owning is a C1905.
I hope you people can help me, thanks in advance !
This happened to me the other day. Just reflash the 4.3 with flashtool, it will fix the bootloop. After that you can do whatever you want. Here is a link to download the stuff you need:
http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/40-sony-xperia-m-c1905
Cheers
First of all use questions and troubleshooting section... I have to report the thread to be moved.

Second of all you do not have any problem.
The point is that you unlocked the bootloader while you have a rooted modified rom, right?
So after unlocking it do a factory reset, and due to modified system partition you are stuck on boot screen.
The solution is very simple, use flash tool and flash android 4.3 tft.
Then start your phone and make sure it boot up at least one time on stock firmware before starting with cm11 flash procedures.
Good-luck.

Hey guys,
So, I have an M8_DUGL, S-ON, with hboot: 3.19.0
It is unlocked, but not S-OFF.
I can get to stock recovery; however, whenever I flash a custom recovery, it gets flashed successfully but doesn't work. It always takes me back to the bootloader page again when I press on REOCVERY. Anyone know why this happens?
I also do not have any OS installed at the moment, mistakes have been made and I wiped it out. So, I need to relfash it. However, it's been a real pain for me to find an RUU that works. I have a CID of J__15, and OS (supposedly): 3.33.401.6
Any help would bee really appreciated. Thanks

Well, haha, I have nothing to make a nandroid back up with. I do not have a recovery and no ROM either. I was too tired, and messed up real bad.
So, my current standing is that I only have my sacred bootloader. I can access fasboot, but can't do anything more. Stock recovery works, but when I flash different custom recoveries, they just don't work. I've done many mods in previous HTC phones, so this is kinda weird to me why it's not working. Do you have any idea to why this is happening?
Did you use the same tool with the other htc phones? Or did you use a different one maybe you didn't root it properly.. If you can still access the stock rom. Try to root it again that's my best advice because it should work on the m8 I rooted one of my m8 must unlock the bootloader before anything tho and must root the phone properly this time.. Let me know if any other questions need to be answered
