Hey guys,
My HTC arrived just hours ago and Ive maybe bricked it already.....
Goal is: Bootloader unlock, s-off, root, custom rom
Ive got the toolkit from Hasoon2000 v2
i62.tinypic.c o m/2rmpnqr.jpg
I have done everything as it said in the instruction, bootloader was unlocked and the twrp version 2.7.0.2 got with success on the phone.
And then Ive tried to flash the MaximusHD Rom without S-off....Wlan didnt worked (I think its because of a wrong firmware) and by every restart there was the disclaimer in a red font in the lower bottom (as if I try to get in recovery) and a restart takes 3-4 minutes.
Then Ive tried to get S-ON via firewater but without successs... I stuck on the adb command "su"...at that point the phone should get a message from supersu..but It doesnt.
Then I flashed the Stock Nand-Backup "TWRP_VODAP001_M8_STOCK_2014-05-01_1.54.161.5_KOT49H.zip" and right after that I got in fastboot and installed the "stock recovery 1.54.61.5 recovery.img". Than Ive done a fullwipe.
Right after that the phone booted without the red disclaimer, but after the boot the display didnt worked...the computer realized it as my HTC, but i saw nothing.
Fastboot works. My phone has a vodafone branding
What should I do? I can spend more and more time downloading gigabytes of data, but that would take days...and I need a phone
fastboot getvar all:

Don't need S-OFF to flash custom ROMs
Wlan didnt worked (I think its because of a wrong firmware

Definitely wrong firmware. You're still on 1.54.xxx.x firmware, most of the ROMs out there already updated to 3.x. Unless you specifically downloaded an older ROM version you most likely downloaded the latest one that requires 3.x firmware on the device. Which is why Wlan didn't work. It requires the latest radio firmware in order for data, wifi, bluetooth etc to function properly on the device.
Then Ive tried to get S-ON via firewater but without successs... I stuck on the adb command "su"...at that point the phone should get a message from supersu..but It doesnt.

In adb shell? If you're rooted you should have seen the request. I don't see you mentioning that you actually rooted the device, only that you unlocked it and flashed a custom recovery. That being said, odds of Firewater working is pretty slim, you'd have a better chance with Sunshine S-OFF(Same developers) but it's $25. It'll tell you before hand whether it'll work or not, if it works it'll have you pay for it, if it doesn't work it'll tell you and you won't have to pay a thing.

Try to restore the nandroid backup again afterwards don't go and do a full wipe(Why you did that in the first place I don't know... )

Your typed English is excellent, please don't apologize.
First off, this phone is not bricked if the screen comes on. You just flashed a ROM that mismatches your firmware, resulting in extremely long boot times (10 minutes or more). Red text on the boot screen is normal once you have flashed custom recovery. So the red text in itself does not mean anything is wrong.
Just flash an older base ROM (HTC software 1.x based) and your phone should boot fine.
Stock ROM and stock kernel (possibly even stock recovery) are best when trying to s-off by firewater (and sunshine as well). Some folks have mentioned success with firewater on past Maximus builds, but I don't know about the latest (Maximus 21) and kind of doubt it. The firewater exploit was patched some time ago. But seeing as your device's bootloader number and radio number indicate a fairly old handset, I'd still hold out some hope that firewater will work. But as mentioned, sotck ROM and stock kernel give you the best chances. Failing that, sunshine is your only option to s-off, as mentioned by another.
I flashed the "TWRP_VODAP001_M8_STOCK_2014-05-01_1.54.161.5_KOT49H.zip" again with all checkboxes checked...and then it worked. After that I go through the instruction step by step and now it works perfectly with venom rom
Thanks for helping out.
Hello, I've been a long time xda lurker (Never thought I could really add much anyhow) since I had my Dell Streak and I think for the first time since I got my M8 I need a bit of help.
They rolled out the lollypop OTA update here in Ireland and figured It was time to update to a stock ROM from here or a slightly improved one but ever since then I have lost my WiFi completely.
Sorry If this makes no seance- at all I'm a little burnt out trying to solve this on my own but even going back to 4.4.3 ROMs I still have no WiFi at all and any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
This is all the info I took from fastboot and the bootloader I thought would be needed

First - remove the serial no. & imei no. as those are sensitive info.
The details that you have does not show that you did OTA. You are still two versions behind.
Restore your stock ROM, flash a matching stock recovery (no custom recovery) then do OTA ... multiple OTAs up to the latest 4.16.410.10
If you're willing to set the phone up from scratch you can just update straight to Lollipop using the RUU available on here. If you want to go that route then you can following this guide I wrote:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235
Basically, step 3 covers what you need to do as step 1 and 2 are already done and at least once that's done if you still have issues you know it's not the software on the phone

I will try that right away thank you for your help I'll post back here when I'm done
No luck, kept getting error 99 with the 'htc_fastboot" from the thread and with my normal fastboot it gives me the error 32 'header error' I only noticed the thread was for s-off phones, I don't care about my phone saying tampered, unlocked or anything but I'm assuming that's stopping the flash from happening.
You must relock your device first ... then try again with flash the ruu.zip

Haha yeah that worked now, ignoring the guide at the start and just leaving it with the relocked warning it's flashing now via the RUU
Thanks to the both of you for your help.
So I got all greedy and wanted Lollipop sooner than when my provider did an OTA.
I tried a bunch of roms and found that Cyanogen was able to work for my phone (a lot of others gave me that issue where the Wifi wouldn't work, I subsequently worked out this was a firmware issue).
In an effort to try and fix a number of bugs I've been attempting to get S-Off. I downloaded Sunshine but Sunshine told me my ROM wasn't close enough to stock for it. So I put another Rom on it, but then mysteriously I lost root access.
So I did a hard wipe.
And now I find myself unable to install any ROMs on it at all (I'm trying to find a stock Kitkat one that will hopefully run).
So I can't get S-Off. I'm not even sure if it's still rooted (though I do have Philz installed and that loads when I put it into recovery mode). And so I'm not even remotely sure what I should do.
Yay!
Bricked mine too!

I just joined this forum, so I don't know if I should be posting here or on a new thread, so let me know I can delete this, move it if I'm out of line.
I'm in the same boat. Just softbricked my girlfriend's Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900a)
Her phone was unlocked AT&T and it auto updated to 5.0 Lollipop update OTA about a week ago.
It's been running like **** so I thought I'd downgrade it to 4.2.2 via ODIN
ODIN (failed) trying to install
G900AUCU1ANCE_G900AATT1ANCE_G900AUCU1ANCE_HOME.tar.gz
I read in one of these forums that downgrading wouldn't work but they found a work around
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785363
Oh yeah and then my phone bricked so there is that, my GF is being really understanding but I'm hoping I can recover this!!!!
Edit: My problem was resolved here

your mistake is using CWM recovery, Sense custom roms require TWRP recovery, so you need to start by flashing the latest version of that.
once flashed, go in and do a full wipe. dont forget after wiping to reboot back into recovery for the changes to take effect, when you go to reboot it will say something like you have no OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot, just say yes, and select DO NOT INSTALL to SuperSU, the rom you falsh will be pre rooted.
TWRP latest version supports MTP, so when your in recovery main window, plug your phone into the computer and your sdcard and internal storage will open on your computer, just copy a rom to your sdcard, once copied, unplug your phone and install it.
use something like ARHD 41 or Maximus HD, they are close enough to stock for sunshine to work.
have a look here for a rom, dont download anything too modded or fancy as you'll be coming away from stock then http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development

your going to need s-off and convert your phone im sorry, doesnt seem to be anything about for your phone, firmware or RUU's.
You'll need to convert to get the latest firmware on your phone, unless you have it via an OTA or something like that ? convert to WWE 401 or Dev Edition 1540, currently your on 980 Austraillia Unbranded.
once you get s-off, convert is easy, all you need to do is change your CID number with a fastboot command, change your MID number, flash the firmware for Dev Ed or WWE, and then run the RUU.

What should my next step be after getting S-Off?

easiest thing for you to do is change your cid first, change it to WWE HTC__001 the command is fastboot oem write cid HTC__001 (thats 2 underscores, CID number is always 8 characters long)
so with your phone in the bootloader fastboot usb mode and plugged into the computer, run these3 commands
fastboot oem write cid HTC__001
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
next is to change you mid, so enter recovery and put this file on your SDcard http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2779524
install it like you would with a rom, and follow the instructions on screen, when given the options to select mid to change to, select the one for WWE international.
when you have finished those 2 things, post your fastboot getvar all again please, should be a new and updated one, again without imei and serial number

the 2 best cid's to go for in my books are HTC__001 WWE (world wide engish) or BS_US001 Dev edition, they get the fastest updates.

Hello.
Did your SIM just stop working, or did you flash something first?
It could be that you need a replacement SIM, or that it has a bad connection in the tray. Is there another phone available to you that you could insert your SIM into to see if it works? Also, is there another SIM that you could use to see if the problem is a bad connection in the tray? Maybe a friend can let you test with his/her phone and SIM.
If it happened after you flashed something, like a ROM, then try another ROM to see if the problem persist.
Also, your OS in bootloader and version-main in your getvar are blank because of a bug in some older versions of TWRP. Update to the newest version (2.8.7.0). It will remain blank until the next time you update firmware I believe, but that's what caused it.
EDIT:According to your DSP, it appears you are on Kit-Kat firmware still. You should update to Lollipop if you want to flash newer ROMs. I'm not sure about this, but it may possibly be causing the SIM read error.
Since you are S-On, you will need to return to stock to do update.
This thread has instructions and download links for you to return to stock. Then you can update via the OTA that will be offered in settings>about>software updates
Yes sim is working after change the rom make this issue ......
I try to update 3.32.771.0 stock rom and try to ota updation after ota updation it hang in htc boot screen somtimes it ends with red triangle .then i use 4.20.771.2 in this stock rom no problem for ota updation but i bave still that issue sim detection .........can soff and use different rom solve this issue
I don't understand. You have updated via OTA? Did you update TWRP? Your version main shouldn't be blank anymore.
Is this something you have tried before starting this thread, or what you have done since I gave you that link?
Also, what ROM are you using that is giving you this error?
If you got S-Off, you could change your CID and update your firmware manually.
And yes, you should try another ROM to see if the issue persist. You could also try an older version of the ROM if your firmware isn't up to date.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I've been very busy.
Have you tried with other ROMs? If the problem persists with other ROMs, it is because the SIM card isn't seated properly in the sim tray, or the SIM itself is fried. You could try to pop it out and reinsert it, clean the metal contact points with alcohol, and lastly try putting a thin layer of tape on the back to make it fit more snuggly.
I'm going to have this thread moved to the M8 Q&A forum, where there may be answers from people who have experienced this before. Try what I have suggested above, and hopefully you'll find a solution soon.
Good luck!

Your MID is fine. Change your CID to superCID (11111111).
You won't be able to flash all RUUs. Verizon and Sprint firmware won't work with GSM phones.
I would avoid AT&T and T-Mo RUUs as well (unless you are switching to their network).

You should be able to, yes.
If it doesn't work you will get an error message/code, and the flash will abort. You won't brick your phone. If it comes up MID mismatch, then you will have to change it, but I don't think you will have to.
For the record, I am on the Telus network in Canada (MID 0P6B16000), and I am using WWE/International firmware for a year and a half (MID 0P6B10000). I just ran an RUU three weeks ago to clear up some system issues I was having, and it installed with no problem.
If you didnt change phones Model ID, You find everything here ROMS, RUUs, Stock Nandroid Backups with respect to your Model ID.
You can S-Off and SuperCID to make things a lot easier.

Hello friends, I'm new here and I have a problem. I have a HTC One (M8) where it is with an OS Maximum Hd 12 (6.0) but the wi-fi is having problems informing that it is not possible to load the drive (it does not) tried. The problem is because I can not pass it to s-off and I can not find a ruu.exe for it. In the s-off in the last line of the error of <pie> are supported and would not be viable to pay 25 dollars for the sunshine already that due to the rate of change would leave for me in a $ 100.00. I need a ruu.exe or a way to switch to s-off or that the wi-fi problem is resolved.

Try MaximusHD 2.0.0 - http://llabtoofer.com/2014/11/15/htc-one-m8-dual-sim-maximushd-2-0-0/
If you want RUU, not easy to get one for free -
Some site will ask for USD20 for the file
(the bad thing is some of ckpv5's backups are there and need to pay to download where I provide them for free on XDA)
Or you can try your luck with some Chinese site - search for 1.32.1401.12 RUU
I have this maximus android 6.0 and also 5.0 zip but the wifi give (error loading drive) unknown error 1. Will the RUU 1401 work in this model even though it is cnn702? Sorry, I'm noob. About the s-off could you explain the error <PIE> are supported? From now on.
You get wifi error on 6.0 and 5.0 because your device is on kitkat firmware.
MaximusHD 2.0.0 is for KitKat firmware but hboot 3.19; yours is 3.18 so it may or may not work.
That's why I said try it.
That RUU version is specific for your CID/MID
No idea about S-Off error. Maybe after you installed RUU then root it you can try again.
S-Off usually work on rooted stock ROM.
I found the file ruu.exe on a Chinese site, but need to register in baidu to download. Phone number from china what I do not have, I tried extensions and Jdownloader but always give error or the speed is ridiculous and not low. Do you know of any other form or register that you can use to download the file? Thank you so much
Sorry .. no idea .. never download anything from Baidu.
Try copy the filename and google it .. maybe other site have it too.
Thank you, I can solve with your help. It downloaded an OTA but when I install it from the crash. Anyway, it helped me a lot.
Download baidu https://www.crsky.com/rom/75428.html
