I'm a use fan of AOSP but the one thing that keeps dragged me back to the stock ROMs is how fully featured and perfect the camera app is. Just wondering if there are any suitable replacements on the Play Store (Paid or free)?

I think if you want the full potential of the LG camera in something else, stay with stock. The stock camera has dependencies on LG framework. I don't think any if the AOSP Roms cameras can use this as they are stripping the stock firmware away.

Which Rom are you using? If its an AOSP Rom can't do it. If its Sense the aol should beHtcCamera.apk

The implication here is that a Sense apk will not work on an AOSP ROM
Since its AOSP you should buy or use a camera app from the market, i have Vignette as well as FxCamera
so i always wondered does our camera quality BETTER on STOCK TOUCHWIZ roms than on CM roms?
on me personally
when on TOUCHWIZ i can FOCUS this that are really up close.
but when i was on a CM roms i was not able to FOCUS this that were really up close.
(when i say up close i mean like 3 mm guessing lmao. )
As i see it, TW roms will almost always provide a better camera with more features. They built their firmware specifically for this camera, while cm is more generic and built to cover many devices.

I love gpe rom on my m919, only thing I miss about stock rom is the camera app..any third party apps that are better than gpe 4.4.2 camera app??

There is nothing at the Playstore which even comes close to the stock Jellybean Touchwiz camera.
Trying to compare any camera/camcorder apps at the playstore to the stock JB/TW camera is like
trying to compare apples to oranges, it cannot be done.
All the cameras/camcorders at the playstore are very much inferior to the stock JB/TW camera.
Good luck finding one.

I have to agree with Misterjunky on this. For a stock camera, it's one of the best around. I don't think a camera app on the Play store can beat it. Even Google Edition S4 camera can't touch this one.:good:

CameraZoomFX is a decent alternative.
Go in the Playstore and search up ''Focal'' It is a camera app that Cyanogen mod created. Its better than the other camera apps in the Playstore.

it has been a while since I last flashed my S4, I tried several Roms before settling into one (I believe I have dandroid) but now an issue has come up. I really miss the old regular stock camera apk, the one with the slow motion and panoramic features. I have been taking lots of pictures lately and the Google edition app just doesn't cut it for me, it has some lag to it, and I need some of the old features. I have also noticed that the battery has been dying extremely quickly.
is there a ROM out there that can offer me that camera apk and a better battery life? I checked out the development forum and there are so many options, it's hard to know which one would be the one for me (I also didn't see anything about the stock camera app, just google edition )

Bottom line, only TW ROM's will have stock camera. Google edition and AOSP ROM'S cannot run the stock camera.

I just installed cyanogen's latest version and the phone is finally usable after getting rid of touchwizz. I won't miss any of the gimmicks like air gestures and stuff like that, but I do want the camera app back. I asume it's just an .apk, but I can't find it anywhere. The stock camera app is not as good, not as fast and certainly doesn't shoot 4k.
Is there any way I can put the Samsung camera app back? That's the only thing I really need to have back. I can't find it anywhere.
