Same thing just started happening to me tonight.
I turned my tab off last night, charged it, turned it on about 30 minutes ago, and started getting that message. Happens every 4.5 seconds. I cant get anything done. I cant get to messages via the App Manager to stop it, either. Lookout Premium says my tab is good to go. I've never used Messaging on this tab before so I have no idea what the deal is all of a sudden.
Device is a two month old unrooted SM-P607T running stock 4.4.2.

Mine has done 2 different times. The first time I rebooted and then went into app manager and cleared the cache and force closed it. The second time which was just the other day, I did the reverse of it. I went through the settings via the pull down and getting to it that way. Yes, my tablet is rooted so it happens on unrooted and rooted tablets. If you can't get into settings to clear the cache and force stop it, then I don't know how else to help but you can try it the ways I did it.

Figured it out, for me at least.
I opened messages and found an unread text from some random email address. It took me a few tries to click the message to be able to read it, what with Messaging stopping every 4.5 seconds exactly, but once the message was read, the error stopped happening.
Now that I can get into the App Manager, when I click on Messages, my only option is to stop it. No cache to be cleared, apparently.

Come to think of it, the last time mine did it, I had a text from some email address I didn't know. Looked like a spam text message. Probably some scam going around. I marked it as a spam message and deleted it. So beware of texts coming from email addresses instead of actual numbers.

Google Voice

I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with the google voice app using their galaxy nexus on verizon..I am unable to send texts from the app. It just hangs at Sending.. with the little circle going around and around. It will stay at that screen for a few minutes then will say the message was canceled. I tried rebooting, uninstalling the app and nothing has fixed it. I also have tried it on 4g, 3g and Wifi. same result.

oh okay. maybe they are fixing the problem, but one platform at a time? idk
I'm so glad you posted this. I had the same issue! Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Seems to be working better though now but had problems all afternoon and into this evening.
I'm on VZW as well.

I had the same issue tonight and I just tried texting myself from GV and the text took 6 minutes for me to receive it. Something is definitely wrong at the moment.
I was also having issues last night (~5-8pm Pacific) with the app. Uninstalled, re-installed, cleared data and cache of app, all sorts of stuff. Gave up and sent from the mobile voice website and it was fine. Hours later it was working a bit dodgy. I have found that the app is much more problematic than the website or a chrome extension.
it does not work for me at all. For example, to send a text message. When I say "send text message to.....Message...Hello" there is nothing in the "to" field, everything is in the "message" field. I've seen this problem mentioned on google forums, but no answers.

[Q] sending text messages Problem !!!!

I am having a issue that started today for some reason. When I try to send a text message or any kind of message for that matter from the messaging program that comes on the phone....the message just sits there and say sending..... underneath what you are trying to send. So that tells me its hanging and net getting out. I can receive message with no problems. Can anyone direct me of what to do to correct it ? I have made sure all my settings in Network settings are the way they are suppose to be like they have been all along. Any help or directions or ideas would be so great. Thanks for your time.

more details.. on stock?
silly question but you'll be surprised... have you tried rebooting?
wipe caches?
fix permissions?
3rd party messenger?
yeah I have went over all that. I have checked all the messaging settings/permissions. I have rebooted a number of times. I have cleaned out all cache that I can...even with deep cleaner apps from the market. I even tried to install and use the handcent messaging app from the market and I get the same results. I try to send a text and the message notifier just sits there and spins because it is not going through. Again though, I can receive messages. this is really beginning to upset me.

My phone is sickly much quicker and system storage and my main gig drive space increased because this new rom requires less space to install. Check it out. awesome !!!!! Look for the video on youtube..search these keywords.....Tuesday ROM for T-mobile Galaxy S2! [SGH-T989]

Where the hell did my messages go?

Ok so I had just received a text. Went to open from the notification bar and when I did it just took me to the message home screen saying "no conversations". I tried using Handcent to see if it was a glitch in default app but nothing there. Tried restarting and powering off phone. Nothing!
But what's weird is that there is no way in hell it could have actually deleted all those messages that fast (I had a 1500 message thread with one person alone). It's almost as if it just lost access to them.
Yes my phone is rooted and I believe I'm running one of the AOKP roms (been a while since I switched that's why I'm not completely positive)
Never had anything like this happen before, I know the messages have to be there somewhere, it's impossible for a phone this slow to just instantly delete over 2000-3000 messages.
Thanks for any help!

Dont quote me on it but i think text messages are stored in a database in the /data/data/com.android.messaging. I removed messaging from mine and use handcent so i cant really look. Just look for something in /data/data with messaging in the name.
I've had that happen on my original Droid a few times. I think it's caused by a low space thing, (which is extremely common on this device) and I've never found a way to get the texts back if they weren't backed up somewhere else. I agree with you that it's odd how quickly it can delete that many texts, though.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Cmlusco, Yea I checked /data/data and there was nothing there.
godsmacked, But shouldn't I have gotten a low space warning beforehand? My phone seemed fine at the time of doing this. But whatever, I had nothing important there that I needed.
But I still hate having lost all of them, maybe I'm just sentimental and liked having some of those convos. Especially since one was with a special girl (gay I know but whatever)
That happened to my friend who has an Inc as well. I don't see any way to get them back. SMS backup works I think or you can download go SMS to backup as well.

I can verify this happened to me several times using the stock OS. Never happened after I rooted/CM7'd it.

New SMS not showing as unread

Hi everyone,
I am running CM10 Alpha4 on my HTC One X and I have the following problem:
When I receive an SMS, a notification shows up which is fine, but the received message (and other new messages as well) shows as read instead of unread. :crying:
Can anybody help?
Thanks
SMS problem update
I have noticed another thing that might be related to the problem: today was Aug 14th and all threads of all messages that arrived today were showing as Aug 13! Then, one message came that was displayed as 4:30, which means today !?
Here are the things I have tried:
1. I checked Date/Time, it is ok.
2. I deleted all messages and tried to send myself just one message, same problem
3. I deleted all messages and restored them with Backup/Restore, same problem
I noticed another thing: when I receive one or more messages, the notification shows up, which is ok, but when I open messages app, besides the original problem, the fact that no messages are displayed as read, the notifications disappear instantly. It is as if the messaging app "reads" all messages, or this is just normal behavior, I don't know.
Does anyone else have this problem, please help!
Also, is this the right place to post this kind of problem? Can anyone direct me to some better place, because no one seems to have interest for this question here

Yes, I have tried both automatic and manual settings, both with same result
It's weird, all I can suggest is that perhaps your phone thinks it used to be in the future and you'll have to get past that date before it will stop thinking that everything has been seen (hopefully less than 24 hours).

YES!! I think you are right, the messages suddenly started appearing as unread!
This happened all by itself, I didn't change anything since the last time it didn't work.
Although, I don't recall doing anything "weird" with date and time settings.
Maybe Titanium restore screwed something up, I don't know.
Anyway, it works (for) now .
Thank you very much for showing interest in my problem and for your suggestions!
Cheers!
Awesome.

Moto 360 not sending texts

I'm not sure if this is from the last update or not but I cant send a text message using the watch. It comes up, says it sending, then it says "message sent" but when I look on my phone, I don't see massage that was sent. I'm using Google hangout out app for text.
I have reset the watch and still no luck.
Thoughts?
I think this is happening for me as well. I'm on att with nexus 5.
Hummm....Maybe it after this last update?
Yeah it definitely was after the last update.
Are you using google hangout?
Yes I'm.
Its weird, it freezes my phone when I send a text. I have hit the "home" button to unfreeze it. Does this happen to you? I tried to uninstall the update but it didnt help. I even tried a different launcher instead of NOVA and still happens.
i think my next step it rest the phone, but that is such a pain!
anyone else having these issues?
Me too here. Definitely after the update. It doesn't let me reply by voice. It sucks!

Moto 360 and S3, Me Too...
I have just spent the most frustrating 2 days trying to get my wife's Moto 360 to send text messages.....it wont. All I get is to be told to use the phone... which loses the point of getting her the watch in the first place. It will send e-mails, but wont reply to them, it recieves texts and emails OK... and everything else works fine... I've tried everything I could think of, uninstalling, reinstalling, wiping phone cache etc, tried Hangouts, but nothing seems to work. I'm left thinking that maybe it could be the S3 operating system that is somehow blocking this? ...or maybe the standard messaging app on the Galaxy? if that's the case, is there an alternative ......that works properly! ? or could it be the mobile provider (it's 3).....or is this a UK thing?
And finally....HELP, HELP !!!!
mine works even after latest update... reply whatsapp.. but currently im looking for some kind of keyboard.. any suggestion?
