Well i have never owned an x10 ,just flicked through it at the store ... so really can't comment on it's software capabilities,as for the Vid.Rec on the desire,it's really good,smooth and 720p [but depends on the ROM,on Sense roms u can record in 720p and on AOSP rom u can recond in 480p)
But from a technical point of view,the Desire has more memory,(a smaller but) better screen i'm and really pleased with it i have no regrets about buying it ...
But my recommendation would be buy a HTC Desire Hd ,cost a bit more then the Desire but it's totally worth it if not,go for the Desire
Have you thought that posting this question in a Desire thread may skew the responses somewhat . . .

If u want to hack your phone go with the desire, read through the x10 forums and you'll see a multitude of problems with hacking it..
Also I have to agree with Matdroid, HTC make very nice handsets

Hey guys so I'm getting a mid range phone and I think HTC Desire 816 is my best choice - dont you think ? - but do you think I should wait for the Desire 820 or not worth waiting ? how long it need to be released ? is there is so much difference between both of them ? and finally is my mid range phone choice good ? Overheats a little bit when viewing videos or video chatting. The only other two devices I'd recommend roughly in this price range are the Nexus 5 and the Oneplus one. The 816 is an exceptional device, though.
But the Nexus 5 costs more than 300€?
The Desire 816 is the best phone in it's price range undoubtedly in my opinion. Especially with the awesome HTC features like Boomsound and the amazing cameras.

816 is a good phone and I haven't ever experienced any heating problems with it, but the price is different in each region and for each vendor so you should specify your country and store. as an example, you should take a look at a newer model called Desire 820 which is more advanced than 816

I am having smartphone htc desire 616 and i am facing some issue with it.
In my smartphone the software get corrupted after 15 days of repair again and again
Now it is getting full charge and while i making it switch on it shows white screen display HTC powered by Android and not happens after that.
Please help me in repairing my smartphone.
