i wanna change ma device and i wanna choose between x10 and htc desire which is the best between them plz any one answer me , cus i heard some prob wz x10 about slow and prob wz desire in video recordin plz give me final decision and thank u sooo much ,,,,
Well i have never owned an x10 ,just flicked through it at the store ... so really can't comment on it's software capabilities,as for the Vid.Rec on the desire,it's really good, smooth and 720p [but depends on the ROM,on Sense roms u can record in 720p and on AOSP rom u can recond in 480p)
But from a technical point of view, the Desire has more memory,(a smaller but) better screen i'm and really pleased with it i have no regrets about buying it ...
But my recommendation would be buy a HTC Desire Hd ,cost a bit more then the Desire but it's totally worth it if not,go for the Desire
Have you thought that posting this question in a Desire thread may skew the responses somewhat . . .
+1 Desire
+1 for desire. HTC produces really nice phones, imho.
Swyped from Oxygen
If u want to hack your phone go with the desire, read through the x10 forums and you'll see a multitude of problems with hacking it..
Also I have to agree with Matdroid, HTC make very nice handsets

Hello which 1 is better? And whats the difference I wana buy 1 tmr cant decide which 1. So please help me out guys picking 1.
I am going to say the desire. It's a great phone. And HTC sense is great. It also think the desire gets updates so much faster.
I did try the x10 but it feels like a girl version of the desire

definetely the desire. Much faster than the xperia, xperia only has android 1.6, and is sceduled to get 2.1 sometime this year, while the desire already has 2.2. Better build quality on desire. Only buy xperia if you want a good camera. (Although Camera 360 on my desire i find is absolutely great, and makes my phone camera seem pro!)
Desire!!!
x10 have **** battery and old android
i've had a quick go on a mates x10. it's laggy. seriously laggy. i thought it was the old 1.6 droidy, but the dell streak has 1.6 as well and that responds just fine.
must be sonys addons since (at least afaik) all 3 have the same 1ghz snappie cpu
barr the camera, the desire is the better phone IMO.
Lol I lied guys sorry to just wanted to get some.info I do have.x10 but dont like the 1.6 seems like it will take forever for sony to.get 2.1 and desire u guys said have 2.2 can u store apps on sd card? And I heard desire u cant see if it sunny out? But indoor and at night its gorgeois and does the camera have flash
I use mine outdoors all the time, can see the screen fine. The only thing that annoys me at all about my Desire is the camera..
I imagine the X10 has a good camera. Always had SE phones before my Desire and I miss the camera big time.

Yes i can install apps to SD on my Desire running 2.2. It can only be done if the software developer has enabled it for their apps though. I think there's a workaround somewhere on here though.
I have had an HTC Desire since two months now and loving its feel of Android , vibrant led colours in display and the smooth 720p video recording .
But I was offered an even exchange of my Desire with the Nexus or the HD2 .
Im confused on choice , I really like HD2 huge screen, but its drawbacks to desire are numerous , like no amoled , no 16 million colors, no 720p .
Whereas Nexus , is pure beauty . It has a v slick rounded contour body with the multicolor led trackball , but less RAM than the Desire .
So I wan't some first hand experience from users , and comments like if I should stay with the lovely Desire or switch, and which would have the brightest future for upcoming future Android releases .

If you want the size of the HD2 but Android then get the Desire HD!! Best of both worlds!!
The extra ram on the desire is mainly for htc sense, and it's about the same with the nexus. HD2 has great community support and thats a huge plus. In my opinion the desire has the best looks, i love htc sense and i love android. A it's the newest from the three. I would'nt trade

Hey XDA
Im thinking about getting a new phone but i don't know what one really
Parallel imported Desire Z
Ebay T-mobile G2
Parallel imported Desire HD
Parallel imported HD2
And i dont know what one pro's and cons if possible will be planning to root
hey matey,
if your in the us and dont mind going with tmobile.. id go with the g2.
the difference between desire z and g2 is that the g2 has 4gb of rom for apps but it doesnt have as many signal bands so it can only be used in the us. the desire z only has 1gb rom for apps but has almost all the bands for abroad use.
the HD2 seems to have better battery life but android doesnt run 100% yet.. ive just come from the hd2 to the desire z and personally there's not much difference but the desire Z and HD and G2 have updated tech in them over the HD2 which is understandable.
the Desire HD is much like the hd2 only it has the worst battery life out of all the handsets listed. but it has an extra 256mb of ram over the Desire z and g2 which have 512 mb
the desire z and g2 have second gen snap dragon processors running at 800mhz but they can be overclocked safely to 1.43
the desire hd and hd2 both share the first gen snap dragon processor running at 1ghz i *think*
it all depends on these:
do you want good battery life
do you want to use it out of the US
do you want to have a qwerty keyboard
i have the UK desire z and love it.. ive had no problems with it, the hinge is a tiny bit loose but its meant to be, its very strong though. ive got 50apps installed and still have 900mb out of the 1gb. battery life is around 30hours dependant on usage and ive got the benifit of the qwerty keyboard.
my vote is go for the G2 if your in the US
hope this helps matey

both have 2gig storage pal. T-mobile lied.
The Missing 2GB
fair enough then i never knew that (Y) cheers
well i would go with the desire z then, as it has the advantage of all bands
however if u want to mod the phone as much as possible the hd2 has the most development currently with wm6.5 android and windows phone 7
but i preffer android with a qwerty

Not true. Coming from the HD2 myself, I can say that the HD2 can run Android 200%. There are SO many developers over there and they even got a very stable port of CM7 (with some customizing) way before RC1 was even released. Battery life is amazing on the HD2, seemingly unbrickable and you couldn't go wrong choosing it.

I second that. I'd get a HD 2 myself if I wasn't so dependent on the kb. Dz all the way for me.

I live in new zealand so does it matter if its parallel imported?
oh im not knocking the HD2 i had one for over a year, its an amazing phone... but if you want the qwerty board then the desire z or g2 is the android phone for you
hd2 is the best if you want to mod it the most... as i said, it has the most development focus at the moment.
the one thing i didnt like about it was the lack of rom memory, unless its the 1gb tmob edition, although you could use apps2sd to get around this !!
it all depends what you want out of a phone.. for the best phone that can run all the differend mobile os platforms.. HD2, for a mobile thats stable, has decent hardware and has a qwerty then the desire z or g2 if the phone for you... i dont see a slot for the desire hd really... i believe the hd2 is far better than the desire hd as it has more development around it
battery life with my desire z is around 30 hours... with my hd2 i easily got 48
choice is yours (Y)

how is the ginger villian? is it stable and whats the battery life like?
and skelly, how did you brick the hd2?!!!

Which one of the four Desires is best?
HTC Desire or HTC Desire S or HTC Desire HD or HTC Desire Z?
Comparison table drawn here: http://www.geekword.net/htc-desire-s-vs-htc-desire-hd-vs-htc-desire-z-vs-htc-desire/
Personal preferences except for the normal desire, that one is old.
If you want big screen HD.
If you want physical keyboard Z.
No keyboard and 4" to big S.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
both desire Z and desire S loose against desire HD. desire S is simply 'refreshed' desire for a lot of money, it is better to go for HD instead. desire Z compared to desire HD also looses. original desire... well if i was to buy a phone now i would not choose it because of it lacking true multitouch.
long story short - for me, the Desire HD is the winner here (and about its size... it is not that much bigger compared to other devices listed here, and it sports best specification at a reasonable price)
Desire S for me...i've had the Bravo since it was released and i still love it (i also had the Desire Z for a few weeks)
4.3" screens are too big for girl's hands, so if i were to upgrade it would be to the Desire S for the ff camera and more RAM
I really want a physical keyboard. So I guess than Desire Z is for me. My gf has HTC Evo Shift 4g (HTC Knight). Its the same screen size, but has a slide out keyboard. Perfect!
Unfortunately, although my carries has great service and price, it sucks at bringing new phones to customers. After all we did not get the Desire until late August 2010.

i found the Desire Z way too heavy
I just wish that the original Desire had more internal memory (and maybe a tad more ram)
the S's non-physical keys is a shame - but the S / Original for me.
front facing camera i can live without as I never used it on the Blackstone
Desire s i think

I would vote for Desire S. It's screen is smaller than HD's, but it has the same pixel count, so the images will look better. It also has front camera, which will be useful in near future. The hardware in both phones is the same, but since S is newer, it may be longer supported by HTC.
If there is a senseles phone, it is Incredible S, which is Desire HD with front camera and doesn't worth its money.
I actually bought the original Desire a month ago and I can honestly say its the best thing I have ever had. Even though its a year old now, its still awesome. I even flashed it with the latest RCMIX HD rom so it now has all the features of the desire hd, plus its literally twice as fast. I also repartitioned the sd card, so the internal storage is like 800MBs.
To be honest, I checked the other phones before I bought this one, and I found the HD too big and expensive, and didn't like the keyboard of the desire Z. As for the S model, it doesn't seem to be anything special with the fact that its expensive too.
So if you're looking for the right sized phone and don't want to spend big bux yet still have a beast in your hands, the original desire is the way to go. Remember, as long as you can flash it, you'll never miss all the fun of the new phones.

i have original desire.. what i miss the most is proper multitouch. .apart from that it is great.. perfect weight and size! htc desire hd is too big imo.. if you want keyboard get the desire z but heard it's a bit heavy... i would recommand desire s
Just buy the mobile what you think is the best for you.

I still have old desire. I`m thinking that i would be missing trackball in other desires
Yup I like the optical trackball too. Bear in mind that desire's multitouch is not good at all.
Desire is my choice, have one for alomost half a year now and I am super happy with it. Didn't test desire s and z, but I test HD one, and I don't like him at all, a little bit new software then desire but very clumsy made, and it's too big to put him in normal pockets, only if you are rapper and have that big pockets.
In my opinion the original Desire is the best if you consider the prices. If you already have the original Desire or an older phone and you want to make an investition, i think that the best choice is by far the Desire S.
The Desire Z is too big and heavy and has no big improvements and the HD is too big for what it is capable of.
My next step will be the Desire S for sure, in a few weeks :-D

The original desire wins for me . I'm due an upgrade , so i decided to be brave and try rooting it and flashing a new rom , now i don't need a new phone . It's opened a whole new fun world .
desire hd if you like the size

not holding out for the Sensation?
If my Desire/Bravo had proper multitouch support and an hdmi out I'd keep it for another 2-3 years..
Pleased as punch with the orignal desire, came to it from the blackstone.
Yes a faster processor would be nice, yes being able to play PSP quality games would be nice but ulitmatley its a phone and web browser which desire 1 does well.
I don't think I'll be getting the itch to change phones until battery life under load is measured in days not hours and OTA data network infrastructure improves and by that I mean High speed (3.5 and 4G) coverage and cost.
Google maps is a toy, it would be great to use when abroad in foreign cities but at £3-8 per MB its unusable.
One example I have is when I got lost in geneva, was in a rush and nobody was around to ask for directions so I fired up data roaming to quickly find out where I was - I had satelight view with a couple of layers as well still set from wehn I use it at home - £5! for about 1minutes usage!!!!
Hi people,
To start with, I did my research and haven't got answers to my question...so am posting one here.
Ok, so I plan to buy HTC Desire for my wife, but wanted to know if I now go to buy it, will it be an LCD or AMOLED? or something else??
There seems to some confusion about the screen?
Also, if you'll could help me in deciding between the Desire and the Desire S.
Wanted a front facing camera phone, but is the Desire S's FF camera any good? If it is hopeless, then I might as well buy a phone without it...
So, thanks so much for reading...
desire used to come in S-LCD and S-AMOLED...
now u will only get S-LCD
desire S is only available in S-LCD
Desire S is way better with more RAM and better camera...and hardware....worth it
dont buy desire..crappy camera...
so go for desire S....
also i'll highly recommend samsung Galaxy R which comes at the same price but is way more better
S-LCD
S-LCD is good too. Don't bother in picking one or the other.

But so far my wife likes the Desire...

Thanx, I will try to convince her, but if she likes the Desire, I am helpless. I wanted one with a FF camera, which is the Desire S. But let's see. It isn't in my budget yet. Waiting for the CES 2012 to work its charm...
front camera
Yes, a front camera is good for video calls (3g or skype).
It's also good for the new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) face unlock of the phone.
I will definitely recommend a phone with a front camera.
