[Q] Custom ROM for Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210R - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210R. I rooted my device through ODIN but it doesn't look like I have CWM or TWRP installed. How can I install it?
The tab also uses internal memory for all the apps/games I downloaded. I tried Links2SD and App Mgr III but none of them or any other option allowed me to move the app data to my SD card which makes my tab extremely slow.
Which ROM is the best for the tab while allowing the move apps 2 SD?

any kk rom

Root, now how is everything working? :D

Hi!
I'm gonna follow the tut on MoDaCo called "14/Jun r6 riskfreeroot - HTC Desire rooting guide - now with HBOOT 0.80 and OS to 1.21 support"
However, when I have done that, I end up with a generic rom.. right?
So how would I get a custom ROM on my phone? I'm really now on this area and I've only had my Desire for two weeks now, but root access is already itching Anyway, what would some must-be things to do, after root?
Regards
Jacob
The simplest way is to use ROM Manager from the Market and use option to flash ROM from SD card after you heve rooted your phone using Paul's method.

Oh, I thought it was harder to flash a custom ROM, isn't it impossible to do it while the phone is booted? I thought that /system access wasn't possible when the phone was booted...
Basically, once you are rooted you can download rom manager from the market. Find yourself a rom that you like from the dev section and download it then put it on your SD card,
Go into rom manager and select the option to install a rom from SD card. Scroll to it and select it. The rom manager app will then boot your phone into recovery mode and install the rom for you. It's all very very easy now! I'd just suggest that you use the rom backup feature in it as some roms don't always work or you may forget to wipe before install etc. The backup is a nice fallback
Made a root stock restore! anyway what else should I do with my phone now, when it's rooted?
EDIT: Also how do I make my MicroSD compatibly with Apps2SD?

You need to create an 'ext' partition on the card. Normally 512mb. You do this via rom manager or recovery.
You will also need to install the Apps2SD zip ONLY if the rom you have currently flashed comes without Apps2SD installed into the rom.

You cannot run any EXT partitions on FroYo.

I want to root my desire with riskfreeroot but I have some doubts. Do I still need a pc to root or can I put the updatef.zip with the test image and load them with the bootloader?

You can run the RUU from your PC while the phone is connected and then flash your chosen ROM without connecting to the PC via USB (safer) using ROM Manager.
Basically, once you are rooted you can download ROM Manager from the Marketplace. Find yourself a custom ROM that you like from the Android Development section and download it, then put it on the root of your SD card.
Open up ROM Manager and select the option to install a ROM from SD card. Scroll to it and select it. The ROM Manager app will then boot your phone into recovery mode and install the rom for you.
I'd just suggest that you use the ROM backup feature in it also incase something goes wrong, e.g. ROMs don't always work or you may forget to wipe before install, or forget to partition your SD Card (if necessary) for example.

[Q] Team Win Recovery Project

Any idea when well be receiving this recovery? The Sprint Note II has already made it onto their supported device list.

I thought this is already available for the Note 2. http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/115. Is there a version specific for different carrier models? I was under the impression that the CWM recovery we used for rooting was from N7100, so I'm assuming that the TWRP recovery will also work on the Note 2. I'm still using CWM recovery though and haven't tried installing TWRP.

Good to know Yo_MaMa, thanks for reporting back. I thought i read somewhere that the backups are not restoring successfully with TWRP.

Ya I tried it on mine and it would not mount the sdcard properly so I could not even see files on the sd card nor could I make a nandroid... It's just not working properly for some reason?
EDIT: New version out and it installs through GooManager and it's working 100%!

Thanks shojus, I'll install it now. I've always preferred TWRP than CWM because of the file manager advance option and the ease of use selecting internal or external storage. :good: Good News!!!

You mean 4.4.2? Install the latest philz touch recovery or Twrp 2.6.3.1 and higher wipe all partitions including internal , leave your external (SD card ) alone then install zip .if you are using philz touch recovery it will ask you to update binary after you choose to install zip like this "(x)update binary" uncheck that so (x) becomes ( ) and go ahead with install [no such update binary request is there when flashing via Twrp]. Also sometimes the screen is stuck on Samsung note 2 but people have successfully flashed it on the 2nd or 3rd attempt and it's a beta ROM so expect some bugs and you'll find most of your answers in the DN3 thread

Installation was giving problems to me also.
I Just Installed TWRP 2.6.3.2 , wiped and installed the rom.
It started working now.
Link for TWRP

1. Download Rom and place it on External SD card
2. Install latest latest TWRP 2.6.3.2 using ODIN
3. Boot into TWRP and go to Wipe -> Advanced Wipe (wipe everything except extr_sdcard, do it twice)
4. Flash the Rom
5. Reboot System
6. Let it settle for 10 mins and then Enjoy

Once you goto "Install Zip" in philz, uncheck "Update old binary" and then flash the zip, everything will be fine. I never had any problems with philz..:good:

when I made my 1st rom on the 1st firmware, it worked with cwm, but when I switched to twrp, and wiped system, I kept getting the NO OS, but then for the 2nd firmware update to 4.2.2 twrp was fixed, worked fine after wiping system,
and for the 3rd firmware update to 4.4.2 cwm didn't work correctly, needs to be updated, and when I use twrp all is good, except my wifi is not working with my rom,
so my recommendation is Odin back and if you are using TWRP don't wipe system, that is probably your problem, I think twrp needs to be fixed for your tab... I have the T217S and it is good for me, I just need to fix the rom for the wifi part. so im using the firmware and just rooting it, can't use my rom for know...
