I tried to flash a custom 2.2 ROM yesterday onto my unlocked, unbranded and rooted Desire yesterday but it failed and the SDcard seem not to be receiving files downloaded, either images or applications. Then I flashed the original 2.1 ROM back to restore the Device but the SDcard still displays 3.66GB as total space and available space even when I download music, pictures and apps. What can I do to restore the SDcard to the way it used to respond to downloads?it seems to be installing onto Phone's memory instead
did you wipe before 2.2 ? and then before restoring 2.1 ?
yes,i think i must have done that.was that a big mistake?
OMG, do you have any idea what were you doing?
You opened like 10 same threads, but you don't tell us anything, which rom, A2SD or not, Froyo app2sd or not, ext partition or not, exact procedure that you used...
What's wrong with 3,66 GB on sd card, that's usual amount of space for 4 gig sd cards... Do you have some sort of error with sd (cannot be mounted, mounted as read only...)? YOU NEED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC.
flashing does not take up space on the SD Card. The only time this is different is when you are trying to update the phone manually by copying the update files to the SD. If you set the phone to be usable as a disk drive when connected and then copy a file to it I think you will find the free space of the SD Card alters. You can't copy directly to the phone memory from windows so I very much doubt you are doing anything wrong. I think you simply misunderstand the situation.

Yes,you're right.I got confused when the ROM flash went wrong,i thought the unfortunate action corrupted the sdcard but having restored the original 2.1 ROM,everything was back to the way it was though some files got erased.Luckily for me,i did a backup of the entire sdcard onto my PC before carrying out the custom 2.2 update. So,all i did was copy back the lost files and everything became ok.Thanks for everyone's assistance/explanations.BTW,got the official HTC froyo Over The Air update earlier, installed it and wholla!!!,it worked like a charm and it's still looks stable.
I am new here and I am scared I messed up my S3. I installed the CM 10.1 nightly build 12.18.12 yesterday and my file system is messed up. The original files that I had on my phone are hidden, I can't see them. I don't even get the option to look in the 0/ folder while browsing the internal memory, I don't see anything. In addition, I'm using a FAT32 formatted microSD but the phone won't store anything on it. When I plug the phone into my computer in MTP mode with the SD card installed, I can see the internal memory if I click on the SD card and nothing if I try to click on the internal memory. Without the card installed, nothing comes up. Most importantly, I have two clockworkmod recovery files on my internal memory that I can't access when I go into recovery, it says that it can't find them. I can see the folder, only with the micro SD installed even though everything in on the internal memory, if I go to install from zip and look for them. I don't know how to get clockworkmod recovery to see, access, and install the recovery to get my phone back to the way it was. PLEASE HELP!!!
Is it possible to just unroot and have my phone go back to "day 1" when I got the phone out of the box?
Same issues for me

I am having the same issues. I have tried to move files with the phone connected via USB to my computer and also though the file explorer on the phone and I can't. Not sure why CM 10.1 was set up to mess with the file formatting, etc, but it screwed stuff up. I have tried going back to CM 10 (which is awesome and very stable) but I don't have the right gapps and can't get the right ones installed...
Anyone have any ideas on how to return the files to the original locations?
There isn't a way for you to go back to day one unless you download the original ROM and flash it. Good luck get that installed at this point though...

To get back to day 1 just flash a stock rom from the stock rom thread in OG development using Odin. That will bring you back to either out of the box ics or newest jellybean update, depending on which one you choose.
I only just started having this issue after flashing 4.2.1. I am trying to put a new update on my phone, but when I have it connected to my PC and click Internal Storage, it's empty and there are no folders or anything, although it shows the space used and available. I tried putting the update in there, but when I booted my phone into recovery, I couldn't seem to find the zip I put in there.
This is always how I've done it previously.
What's going on here?! Am I just doing something wrong?
Thanks
i think i heard that some roms have trouble mounting the sd card not 100% sure though
Hello all,
Just updated my fiance's s3 to MK3. Didn't know about KNOX, but whatever. I don't think that is the issue. Whenever I updated it, the internal storage is no longer available to view. All of the pictures, music, etc, anything on the internal sd card, it is inaccessible. It's still there, when I view the storage in settings it shows that it has 9.02gb full. When I plug it up to my computer it shows the same. But all of the folders are empty.
This happened previously, before I updated to MK3, when I tried to flash MIUI and CM, but I just reverted back to stock to get access back. I can't revert back to that backup now bc of KNOX.
If anyone can help me get access back to the internal storage, without wiping the entire thing, that would be great.
Thanks!
I've tried installing a MOAR, through CWM and TWRP, but I still don't get access to internal storage. I still have my 4.1.2 recovery backup on the sd card, if I restore to that from 4.3, will it brick?

I recently updated my firmware to 4.16.401.10 and installed dragon ROM onto my m8. Since doing so I am unable to use any apps that try to access my internal storage, nor do I see any files in sdcard/0. It comes up with a message saying "cannot access the SD card". I'm not sure how to proceed here, any help would be appreciated.

hi,had the same problem and the fix that's been posted did'nt work for me,spent ages trying and various other fixes.only option was to format internal storage through twrp, but, you lose all content on your internal storage,i was unable to copy my internal to external sd card...
this only seemed to happen when flasing arhd 34,i've now switched to insert coin and have no problems, did read somwhere that twrp is at fault,so updated to the latest twrp, this made no difference when flasing arhd..
try insert coin..6.06
