I forgot to launch XMBC before freezing the KFTV launcher, and now my system's just stuck on the amazon logo. Luckily I've installed the CM and launcher so can get an IP address and the recovery boot menu. Anyone know the command to re-enable the KFTV launch? I know the updates are: pm enable com.amazon.dcp - but I imagine there's a similar command for the KFTV launcher.
edit: I can't get into the root of the Android system, only "~ #" - so I can't run the command to view disabled services/apps. I've already tried to install the bueller custom ROM again but that didnt help. Do I need to factory reset?
In the end I factory reset the box, disabled the update sites in my router, and rebooted. back to normal operation. FYI - re-installing a bueller ROM didn't work.

Hi,
I recently installed SPMC launcher version on my FireTV. When I rebooted, it launches straight into SPMC, but never makes it to the menu. Just a black grey screen. I can't get back to the Amazon menu in any way. I can't uninstall SPMC to restore the launcher. I've tried via adbFire, but it says it's not installed.
Any recommendations on how to restore my launcher to kftv?
I can access the FireTV via adb or SSH. I just don't know what I need to do from there.
Thanks!
Sorry... I just figured it out. I downloaded the newest version of adbFire, and it allowed me to delete it. Thanks anyway.
I have kodi 14.1 set to boot up first instead of the aftv home screen menu. Its a rooted aftv and I use xposed launcher to have kodi boot up first. The problem is that the aftv runs fine until kodi tries to launch but all o get is a black/gray screen. Im trying to get back into the aftv home menu but can't find a way to do so. Any suggestions or solutions?
Try turning off the launcher in xposed. They try launching Kodi from the applications settings. If this does not work, uninstall/reinstall Kodi and try it with a clean install. Back up your settings first but do not restore them until you confirm it works with a clean install. Then you can try to restore your settings.
If it doesn't work again, delete any advanced or user settings. Something is not configured correctly. Viewing the xmbc.log in the temp directory will get you to the source of the issue quickly too.
Sometimes the gray screen is on as long as 20 seconds for me. So be sure you are waiting long enough.
Hi,
i've rooted my Fire TV 1st gen and disabled the stock launcher, then it updated itself to the newest unrootable firmware. Without root I can't reactivate / unfreeze the launcher, but I read somewhere that it will automatically be reactivated by a factory reset. The problem is that I can't access settings menu with the disabled launcher, so is there any way to perform a factory reset through adb? Thanks in advance for your help!

I didnĀ“t try this but for some Android devices and depending on the installed recovery this adb command may work:
Code:
adb shell recovery --wipe_data
how about the setting app?
hope it helps
I think I messed it up, it won't boot now so I'm returning it to amazon, but maybe someone else has the same problem...
Hello, I am about ready to give up on my Fire TV 1. Currently, I am on Software 51.1.6.3_user_516012020, and I apparently have root, bootloader, etc. However, due to low memory space, I ended up deleting (through ADB) the Amazon Home screen. Now nothing works. I did a factory reset (probably a bad idea), and still can't get anything to work. I have tried installing Kodi 17.4 with the Downloader app, and get a "parse error." Installation fails when I tried to install through ADBFire. Finally, install fails on App2Fire as well, with the message: "Upload successful, ERROR listing packages: Broken pipe."
I'm at a loss here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would even ship the device to you, if you could fix it! Should I just upgrade to a Fire TV 2 at this point?
Don't know if this will make any difference, but try sideloading the firestarter / appstarter app ( name was changed over time). In the app settings is the option to directly install the latest version of kodi. I've had a few issues in the past where I couldn't get it to install using adbfire, but it worked when using the appstarter / firestarter gui interface. I believe firestarter or appstarter still boots directly into its gui interface if you've got root. If you can sideload the appstarter or firestarter apk, reboot the fire tv and see if it boots into the app's gui interface. Go to settings and you'll see a kodi option allowing you to download kodi 17.4. No guarantees, but worth a shot.
Come to think of it, you've probably bricked it. See if there's anything that's useful in this article

Netflix on my jailbroken firestick freezes as soon as the login page loads up. I cleared the data & cache and reinstalled it but still the same problem.
I tried to download APK and install the previous version via Adblink but it was not really compatible with a firestick. I don't want to factory reset the firestick because it would un-jailbreak the firestick and I don't know how to jailbreak it since I bought it. Does anyone else having the same problem or know anyways to fix it? Thanks!

Its "Android" not "iOS", so we don't jailbreak here, all you have to do is go to Settings and then "My Fire TV" then go to "Developer Options" and enable "Unknown Sources", Enabling this option allows you to install any app.
But in your case you have a rooted stick, then you will have to update your system via TWRP.
